Card game players rating cards from games they don't play has by far become my favorite genre of youtube video, I'd love to see you do more of these and have LDF back on your channel!
thanks for the new format content! my thoughts on how it could be better would be to have some sort of theme to introduce a new player to. be it whats a good mana value for creatures, what are good artifacts, what are good effects, etc. this one feels like a mix of every card type, hard for a newboe to grasp whats good for each card type. but you do explain things well though, taking time to explain the basics to a newbie.
As someone who has never played Magic and only plays Pokémon, this was a really solid video (and one that I learned a lot)! Definitely intrigued me to want to try Magic!
the thing about necropotence is it was a combo enabler allowing you to dig 15 deep in one turn to set up for the win and it was used for more "fair" strategies to get tons of value to fuel aggressive strategies. it created a time in old magic called combo winter and then they banned combo cards and it became black summer. they then banned necropotence.
CHAOS WAND! I love that card, I played it alongside Nexus of Fate and Paradox Engine in a mana rock deck (yes, I am one of the monsters who played Nexus in best of one... but at least I had fun), with Paradox Engine it could literally let me take a single infinite turn by using my opponent's deck to untap my mana and card draw if I ran out of spells. It was probably the worst card in the deck but I still loved it :D

Some of these were not really fair. Cauldron Familiar for instance is a very middle of the road card unless it is used in the combo it's named after. Bolt by contrast goes in literally almost any deck it's legal in.

Maybe next time throw in a Silver Bordered card, let him know that it's from a Joke Set, but seeing the reaction to something like "Hurloon Wrangler" would be fun, especially things like "you can always take off anything that's made of Denim as a reaction to it coming into play." Just to see the look on his face when he thinks about the fact that "There's no way they'd be okay with gamers taking off their jeans in the gaming shop."

It's not about fair, but fun. LDF never played magic anyways, so every card was a mystery itself ;)
