Japan: Authorities Use AI to Solve Increasing Bear Attack Problem
Authorities in Japan have now turned to artificial intelligence to solve their bear attack problems. The country has been witnessing a record number of bear attacks in the past few years. A pilot project has been rolled out in Toyama Prefecture, where an AI system will monitor the bears' movements and send notifications when they are spotted close to people. 30 AI surveillance cameras have also been set up in Hanamaki City, where their movements will be tracked near rivers. If this pilot system becomes successful, then they will launch it in other regions too. In 2023, over 200 people were injured by bears, and at least six died. Watch the video to know more.
