I can curl 70lbs for reps with one arm (clip on channel), my bench is barely hitting 250lbs, and not for lack of effort lol. And I'm natty. people who take steroids with bad geneitcs often only look slightly more muscular than the average man. theyll never come close to arnold or ronnie coleman. people with good gentics look bigger than them without even training. and when they do train, they can get big, but they also need steroids to get massive.

People don't seem to understand the role of genetics in sports. Basically every athlete is on steroids, has similar training etc so they will all be about equal so the only difference is genetics. You can only get so far with steroids if you don't have the right training and genetics. Anyway, if you aren't planning on competing don't take steroids and save 40 years of your life.

There are genetic freaks out there. My dad had a friend named Dave Mayor. At age 17 he was a real beanpole, 6’2” tall and 155 lbs. He got sand kicked in face on the beach one day and, just like the Charles Atlas ads on the back cover of comic books back in the day, he started training with weights. 18 months later Dave was 265 lbs. and on the 1936 U.S. Olympic Weightlifting Team. He didn’t do well in the competition as he didn’t have the experience. But he did win the World Championship in 1938. He held the Guinness Record for largest muscular arm (21”) for many years. In his forties he worked for Bob Hoffman, selling Hi-Protein supplement & York bodybuilding equipment
We talked about steroids in the 1970s, when it was getting to be a real problem in weightlifting, and how the Soviet bloc athletes were being attended by sports physicians who specialized in developing steroid regimens that were a step ahead of the detection science. Dave cheerfully admitted he was a genetic freak - steroids weren’t available in the mid 1939s when Dave main his gains. He and my dad were the same age and both were first generation Americans, struggling to put enough food in the table for 3 square meals a day, let alone 10,000 - 15,000 calories like Eddie and Brian ate I. Their Strongman training.
