This is a really good solo, in my opinion, because it sounds like a bass and not someone playing a guitar solo on a bass. It maintains the bottom and heaviness of the bass while still showing some flashy topend. Rock on, Mr. Glover!
@@KT-ut9zg The credits read Dave Glover, not Roger Glover. I know that Roger's first name is David, but I'm not sure that He played on that album. I wish he had, but it's not certain.
Roger Glover is my third favorite bass guitarist (right after John Entwistle and John Paul Jones) and this particular solo captures everything from technical bass playing to using distorted feedback to create different kinds of sound.
He is an amazing player . Gets the crowd into it, what a showman. Don't underestimate his ability. It's perfect for deep purple and rainbow. If you ever have any doubts about how good he is listen to his solo album Gillan and Glover you'll hear some funky bass on that. He plays all styles of music on that. By the way it is an excellent album from song to song they cover all different types of music that they love.
Roger Glover is an amazing talent that is amazingly underrated. Check out his 1983 solo album, The Mask. A pop album that holds up almost 40 years later.
Why why and why the bloody hell didn't Roger Glover play such fantastic solos on the early Purple albums??? They would've bumped off every other band to take the top spot. Jon Lord and Ritchie Blackmore had a lot of solos. If only Glover also had his share of such solos. I imagine a Deep Purple song similar to Child in time where the song takes off slowly with a Hammond solo by Lord, thn Gillian starts singing, the power of his voice progressively increases. Then Jon Lord plays a solo on his C3 after which Roger Glover plays a fantastic solo on his bass backed by Paicy's incredible drumming following which Blackmore starts off with his solo shredding his yellow Stratocaster. This idea isn't applicable today but it just crossed my mind that if they all worked as a team instead of the infighting, they probably would've taken top spot.
@@Martsapso21 when it comes to marketing, bands like Kiss, Guns and roses and My chemical romance are equal monsters. Yet the only members that get some showtime and recognition for the average fan are the singer or the guitarist (or both). That doesn't happen often with Zeppelin, partially because of marketing (yes) but also because all the members have their moment to shine in their songs. Even John Paul Jones.
This is the first time for me to see roger glover bass solo, i saw deep purple live twice but i don't remember that he played any bass solo, he knows to play bass, that's for sure, but he's not a modern bass player, i mean he's not playing any tapping tech like most of the bass players from the eighties, but his style is good enough for deep purple, so he's good enough, thanks.
sorry, are u deaf? i response this man as a mamber Deep Purple, but as a basist not so much,he dont play with fingers, try to find and hear some more expiriensed basist-Jaco Pastorius for example, anyway bless u with ure 70-years in such a good band
And what difference does it make if he plays with a pick? Plenty of talented players play with a pick. Hell, Tony Levin sometimes plays with a pair of drum sticks. The quality of the player and their parts is more important than is whether they play with a pick or fingers.
You know he some players in certain bands are not even mentioned and are thought to be less talented ? Well......he should be soloing childish shit like that....might as well avoid that all together. What a load of crap
Not only is Roger a truly superb massively underrated musician and producer, he’s a lovely man too.
Paice and Glover - what a perfect match!
Wow Roger pazzesco sei fantastico. Che bassista meraviglioso 💜💜💜💜💜💜🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
He's a monster, his right hand technique is something else.

Roger has always been under appreciated compared to other bass players.
wow the bass tone in this is simply P E R F E C T
What a tone, nothing complicated, just a grovin bass adventure to keep you movin like a pro should!
Glover and Paice like teens! superb, fantastic.
I would like people to stop with "Glover is not that good, he's just lucky" because he's just so good
Well, you do know your stuff. Here's Glover on the 70's album Tumbleweed Connection. His bass is sublime.

True that .
Roger Glover is beyond national treasureness
Kick ass bass player so underrated

Great Bass Master.
Cool tone. Very punchy without being too distorted.
Exciting.......Glover plays the bass like a normal guitar and is excellent on it......rare and exciting!
1:20 the way he switched into galloping

He seems to have a lot more fun on stage these days.
That tone! O.O

definitely not underrated. He is well regarded to be one of the best and most influential bassists in the world and rightly so...

That's why everyone remember Led Zeppelin instead of Deep Purple
@@joaquinlezcano2372 A lot of them out there remember Purple and Sabbath too.
@@joaquinlezcano2372 That's mostly down to marketing actually.

Roger Glover!!!
The most perfect band member I know.
FELIZ CUMPLEAÑOS ROGER GLOVER
Awesome bass player and a cool guy meet him in gothenburg

GENIOOOO!!!!!!
Rog is no virtuoso. He sounds amazing, however. Love his basslines and his tones. Funny and amazing solo.
Thumps up (from Roger to Roger...)!
SWEET !!!
from the song black night! )
1:21 Stargazer?
super star
O Ye eeeee !
Could Mccartney do this kind of bass solo?
Paul makes other good "meshes" but can't compare to Roger, they have different styles ...!
Chi vuol capire capisca😂

The Cello section just fell asleep
This isnt bass but a bass guitar.
How dare you. This is not epicc
All a bit dull really, as most bass solos are. Second only to a drum solo.
Secondo me erano entrambi bravissimissimi,ma in modo estremamente diverso. Stili diversi. Personalità diverse. Però wow

+Tomasz Sidorski You are the only one who deaf.
man,im musician among all,a play gitar, piano, bass so pleas...im not so deaf

Pick just produce different sound.
If someone used pick = they just want pick sound or get more comfort while playing bass.
let just see it in Dolina Charlotty
Fuckin dreadful solo
Yeah I guess you can do better.
In now way is this solo dreadful. He shows off his fantastic style here.

Seriously, this man played fantastically.
Roger Glover is not a very virtuoso bass guitar player.
He rocks. Something which doesn't need to be a "virtuoso", but which is very more fun than many "virtuoso".
Many fantastic musicians aren't "virtuosos" They are just good.
