This guy has georeferenced a topographical/Contour map of that area and has overlayed it on Google earth.Hence,you are able to see both maps I.e. A satellite map and a contour map.
@@jeffreythompson5780 Take scanned copy of a survey map/Contour map in any image format. Note down coordinates of all four corners of the scanned map and create place marks of all four corners. Use overlay option in Google Earth and upload scanned image.You will now need to place/adjust the scanned image between these four place marks/coordinate values. Once all four corners are set /adjusted accurately, you'll see a georeferenced and overlayed map like this.
In your video, Visualizing Contour..., you start with an overlay of a contour map. You then do several things. However you do not show how to get the contour map to begin with as other have also asked. about. Can you supply a simple method for obtaining this overlay of contour lines? Some of the methods presented in other RUclips videos are pretty complicated and involve using several other software programs. If we have other questions how can we email you directly?
All I did was google images of contours for different areas around the country. They're just jpegs. I then used the overlay tool in google earth to overlay the jpg's on the corresponding areas. The purpose of the video is to show intro geology students what 2D contours look like in 3D.

I do not see Contur VIS option on my version of GEP...of course a sep search shows this must be for a plugin for GE? Perhaps an 30 secon intro to help with context here. Novice user looking for better topo!~

I see that those contours lines are like equipotential lines. I was wondering if I can use the same tool to plot potential surfaces that I generate mathematically to describe underground electrodes influence in the surface of the ground in google earth.

Your video title and content do not match. How and where did you get the contour map? How did you import it? Your video missed the mark.

Need to see this from scratch...how did you get to the little 'topo glyph' for Enchanted rock(under Contour Vis)...?
I just googled contour map of enchanted rock and saved a jpg of it. I then overlayed the jpg in google earth with the overlay tool in google earth.

where did you get the topographic maps?? This video is pointless unless you show where to find the data to overlay.
