I agree that more companies should sell bows direct to customers. The Bear Legend XR is a low-priced, super-adjustable, family-friendly bow, but is pro shop only. That is idiotic marketing.

It’s a deal the manufacturers make to support the mom and pop shops. They understand they need each other. If they only sold to consumers. The shops would eventually die off and those in the sport would diminish. So although the consumer would save a couple bucks. The sport as a whole would suffer. In the end increasing prices due to lower production numbers.
Everything is a give and take. The Chinese bows sold on Amazon care nothing of the sport or those that support it.

@Your_mom736. I agree. I am also an amateur astronomer, and Ive witnessed what has happened to that hobby. Twenty years ago, there were hundreds of astronomy shops that dotted the country. There cant be more than 50 still in business in the whole US. People think those shops are ripping them off, but they dont realize that unlike the 'Zon, they have to rent space, and personally assist customers. They also cant buy in bulk on a competitive scale. What we lose is a place that can provide guidance, and help up with the product if there is an issue. Try returning a broken bow to Amazon after 30 days for technical assistance. Low price, yeah, but we're all losing something huge...

@Your_mom736 if they cared the bows wouldn't be this out of hand...there is NO way a LIFT cost 1500 to make period the end...if it WAS only a few bucks then sure but it bet if they opened the books, it's more than double the cost to make including R&D which is where they would hide to cover the outrage if we knew.....
As prices rise to insane your pricing more people out the sport than you would lose with a direct to consumer model.....bet that...
Now the happy medium that doesn't push either party ( manufacturers vs Consumer ) to something drastic is probably around 800 ish like it was a long time, get more efficient at making the bows instead of squeezing every dollar out the Consumer...THEY create the environment where people end up seeking then demanding a different model....
Aka.......the tighter they squeeze the more slips thru their fingers, it's a universal truth...

@@ShawnGilbert1967 I’m a capitalist that believes in the free market determining price. As long as there are affordable options. People will either buy cheap and force the manufacturers hand in adjusting their pricing. Or people will continue to throw money at the sport keeping the prices high. You can buy a fully functional bow, arrows RTH for 150.00 bucks shipped to your door. It’s not them best bow by any means. But more than enough for someone entering the sport. Let the consumers decide where the prices should be. We all have options and speak with our wallets.

I've been buying the flagship bows from 5 or 6 years ago online. For my kids in 4H archery I send them to a pro shop about 50 miles away. If a kid can't afford one of their bows I will set them up with a budget bow that I keep around just for that purpose. I bought a $99 bow on ebay just to see hiw bad it was. It's in the hands of a 9 year old who did fantastic at our count fair this weekend. It works, but I won't buy another one. I would rate it at a 5.5 out of 10. I did have to press it to get the peep installed so it wouldn't twist.

My take away almost ALL these bows Brandon has been shooting with his 500 grain hunting arrow from the newest 3k out the door tech to this $285 RTH ALL seem to shoot that 500gr arrow in the 270 range +/- 10fps even "speed bows" on performance settings WOW....
2nd take away is Brandon been working out he is a lot larger on his newer videos haha and he muscled his way into .5 more draw length hehe.....
But seriously thanks for having the ball sack to say what needs to be said...as someone returning after so many years I want some new tech sure, a dead in the hand bow....smooth cycle both draw and shoot....looks like I won't really get any speed from what I shot...but more forgiving bows are welcome....speed stagnated 20 years ago that's depressing....
However what's clear is no damn flag ship bow is worth 3k shooting the same speeds in a similar fashion when Brandon hits 50yds with ALL of em.......
Bow shops that want to be around here in 5 years probably better get setup fees, instructional classes ect alternative means of revenue production because their stranglehold on the market will diminish greatly, once a couple big names take these routinely to woods and harvest big animals the flood gates will open...
As soon as ONE major manufacturer does it and undercuts the competition ( cough PRIME cough ) like say Mathews, it will be a race to the bottom and where THOSE prices end up is the true area it cost them to produce the bow....bet it doesn't cost 500 to make a LIFT...
    Change my mind Mathews....
