If you live in a spot that doesn't get below 20-22F (-6C) give or take, there are lots of avocados that will grow. Many London residents can grow Brogdon, Bacon, Lila/Opal, Fantastic/Pryor, Mexicola, Zutano and several others. Looking at the fruit, I would guess that's probably a Bacon or Zutano. Since most of London is Zone 9, that should be fairly easy once you get the tree through the first few years. Protect the tree until it gets a trunk as thick as your ankle, and then it should be fairly self-sufficient. It will probably take 2 seasons for the avocados to reach maturity since London lacks warmth, but if you're patient, I'm sure it's doable.

Unfortunately the majority of people here have no idea that they could grow cold hardy avocados here, given the right micro climate.
Definitely a good idea to protect the tree until trunk gets as thick as your ankle. I’ve got a couple of Mexicola’s which hopefully at some point in the future will be planted outside 😃

I'm in Central London in a 7th floor flat. I have one three year old tree, one 2 year old tree, 2 trees from last year and about 20 new one popping up this year. While I doubt any of these will fruit they are very very easy to grow. The two tiny ones from last year survived outside in a small pot with no protection.

I think it's a matter of public concern to multiply this mother tree, via cuttings and pits, if there is the possibility to get few dozen of pits and cuttings to make a natural selection via acclimation, I would like to do that in a more continental weather, I'm working in Brussels with a school of horticulture.

Knock on the door and ask if you can claim the harvest each year. Thousands and thousands of trees are not harvested for some strange reason. Tup north, the wild fruit you can find is fantastic, and if you love walnuts, Newcastle has some great trees, and only yesterday, growing wild, I found cherry sized plumb trees, and they are the best I've had. You need to get into air layering and start getting branch's (clones) and spread them around, or sell them.

Hi @ballyhothi3830, Avocado grown from seed can take up to 9 or even more years to fruit. This particular tree had taken at least 20 years to fruit.
If you want an avocado tree to fruit a lot sooner, you would need to buy a grafted variety. Unfortunately they are pretty hard to come by in the Uk.
