Put a new fuel tank on my LT2000 a bit ago. Original had separated at the seam and yes the gaskets was in the bottom of the tank in pieces. Also put on a fuel shut off like you have here, filter and new gaskets in the Nikki using the Kohler kit. Runs perfect now. I also remove the Ethenol from the gas for all my lawn equipment and my classic car. It is nasty stuff when left to sit between uses.

Now that I've watched your video, I feel very confident in replacing the carb and cleaning out the tank. Plan on working on it tomorrow!!
Greetings again from the UK. To be honest I would be straight on the internet to find out how much a replacement tank was as this was far too much effort!!!! Great video again. Many thanks.
Hey T. I do small engine repair. I actually wash the tank with dawn, and hot water. The volume of water will wash the particles out. If its gunked up with old fuel residue use pinesol and hot water, let it sit for 24hrs. And force air into it to dry.

Hey, enjoyed the video. Ran into the same problem with the surging. Swapped with a new carb, same thing. I'll check the tank and fuel line tomorrow. However, I did notice you cleaned out the debris caused by the deteriorating gas cap, yet still used the same old gas cap after the cleaning.🤔 Did you clean out all the loose stuff off of the cap itself before putting it back on?? If so, sorry, I missed it. Sending a few bucks your way to show appreciation for your videos. Thanks.
A good video, when the fuel tank has that much built up crud the carburetor would have some crud in it as well, I would think. An interesting and enjoyable video sir.
Thanks for the tips and explaining the modification on changing out the different brands of carburetor. You are helping out lots of people who for whatever reasons need to be their own small engine mechanics, Professor T-Bone, you are AWSOME!

Great videos! My Murray 30 inch rear engine has been surging and stalling when blade is engaged and when not doing that it vibrates real rough as soon as you engage mower. I put on new blade and it still does the same thing. It has the original belt since 1990 - (Model TVXL220-157231A.) Could it be the belt or what? Thanks for your help!!!
Wow! You got your money out of that belt. Did you check for side to side and up and down play in your spindle when you changed the blade? Is the blade the same distance from the deck all the way around? Also, a new belt definitely couldn't hurt. Check all you pulleys for play when you replace it. You've got a worn out bearing somewhere. Those old murrays are some good mowers! Good luck!

Since you had the surging already, I'd probably take the carb off and clean it with some carb and choke cleaner. Or at the very least I'd run a can of berryman b12 thru the tank. Notice how He takes a very small first cut and then a Larger second cut to give him a good square surface. How do I know? Because a standard set of wire cutters are too shallow and will not cut all the way through the fuel line hose. And the numerous times I have cut fuel line hose, I always force it in the wire cutters. And then I never get a perfectly square cut. And I have simply accepted it over the years.
