Making me feel old Steve. In 1996, that was the first pickup I bought new. It was a two tone brown / goldish XLT 4 x 4 with the 7.3 turbo diesel. I was soooo proud that day. I had 14 other Ford trucks since then, but its the onlyone I'd like back.

I daily drive a 1996 F-250 XLT Crewcab. As a West Texas truck, mine is a great rust free 174k mile truck.
On the F-250 and F-350 trucks, there weren't airbags. The F-150s and Broncos did have them. Also, the F-250s and F-350s ran this body through 1997.
I pray you're doing better and thank you for all the great content à

Those are going to be very sought after soon. My father had a 1992 F250 red, single cab, 4x4 with the 5.8l v8. Almost makes me want to find one in good condition.

the best looking ford truck IMO. i had a 94 150 XLT with extended cab and loved it. but northern winters killed it after 17 years. mine still had the original exhaust as well. i know a guy who had one exactly like this video. his was used just for pulling a camper and was in top condition.

Beautiful truck, the 2 tone paint looks awesome. Only thing I’d change is those hideous mirrors & adding a tachometer.

No, technically, the F-250 is a 3/4 ton and the F-350 is a 1-ton rated truck. Even with a HD suspension an F-250 is still nominally rated at 3/4 ton. No, that's not correct. The F-150 went to the 10th generation for 1997, but the F-250 and F-350 stayed in the 9th generation in the 1997 model year. The heavier model trucks were "phased in" back then and this is still done today.
From the HOC website, the VIN gets the win: 1FT for US made Ford Truck, H for 8,001 for 9,000 # Gross Vehicle Weight Rating, X26 for F-250 4x4 Super Cab, G for 7.5L V8 with MFI, 8 is a check digit, T for 1996 model year, E for Kentucky Truck Assembly (Louisville, KY) and the rest is the production sequence. The Kentucky Truck plant opened in 1969 and still operates today.
Exterior paint should be code "RD" Teal and code "WT" Performance White two-tone.

Steve, we all hope you are doing better and stronger each and every day and will soon be back on the job! Thanks for another fantastic review. I have a 1995 F-250 XLT regular cab 4X4 with the 351 5.8 V8 with 141K miles. Love the OBS trucks. So much character and clean styling.

Im on my 3rd . 87 300 and OD 4 speed , 91 XLT Lariat 300 with OD 5 speed and now 96 XLT 5.0 HO with auto OD . 91 was my favorite but 96 gets better mileage . Almost wish the 96 had the ZF 5 speed the 91 did just so i could wind out the 5.0 as the FIOD shifts to protect the driveline . My 91 only went 226,000 miles before a spider gear broke in the 8.8 and it was quite a skid when the broken piece tried to go between the ring and pinion . managed to reverse and drive home - LOUD KRUNCHING with every turn of the driveshaft . Took me 3 years to find another truck as nice .

While it has proven to be a very good engine, I'd gladly take the 300 inline 6 over the naturally aspirated 3.7 litre V6 in my 2014 F150 XL.

Beautiful truck! Just curious though, why is the body line misaligned between the back of the cab and the front of the box? I noticed that on the driver side.

I have an 88 F350 XLT Lariat, fully loaded and sadly, the passenger seat does NOT slide, it only tilts and it's a PITA to get into the back.
Also, those dual tanks are known to have problems. The selector valve goes bad and one tank pumps into the other tank. Otherwise, great truck.

My theory about the low mileage on this truck: 460 got about 10 MPG. 55,000 miles = 5,500 gallons of gas @ say average of about $2.50 gal = $13,750!!!

Having a camper shell painted to match the truck is nothing special. I have owned two trucks and bought a Snug-Top for the Ram 2500 custom painted and a Leer custom painted to match my Ford. I just gave them my vehicle information off the door side sill and that has the color code. Wait a few weeks and it came in and had it installed with a Bed-Rug liner.

I'm not a big fan of Fords. But I wouldn't mind driving around with that big block under the hood. Although it would be a lot better with a standard cab 2WD short bed

    8’ bed.

    • @alanazon1
      @alanazon1 6 месяцев назад

No, actually you're both wrong. The bed is neither 8' nor 6'. This is a 1996 short bed, which is 6 3/4' long. You can tell by looking carefully at the distance from back of the cab to the rear wheel.

Super nice truck drooling over it
But it is a three-quarter ton so no air bag in that wheel
Air bags were a few years down the road for 3/4 ton and up
94 F-150 got driver's side air bag and high mount stop light
    94 all got the light

9:32 it gets even worse for old chevys. You fill one tank with your debit/credit card, hang up the pump, turn the truck around and try to re run your card and it declines. and declines again. you have to tell your bank to let you buy gas 3 or 4 times in a day. if you dont they'll shut off your card because they think its been stolen and the thief is filling up their car and their buddys car on your card... big PITA. ford def had the better idea here...
