On some tours he's great an awesome, and some of the tours his voice was shit. And that's from 23 years of touring. Michael Kiske didn't tour for almost 15 years, and his voice still sounds like he did from the late 80's & early 90's.
This might have some truth to it but I'm not sure it is totally true though. Look at James Hetfield, he has been touring practically nonstop with MetallicA since the early 80's and his voice still sounds good.
