Excellent. I have a question for you: if a customer compares your technical solution / product with a competitors and you don’t know much about what would be the best way of responding without sounding you don’t know your market.

If your product solves a problem, switch to value based selling by pressing on their pain, future pacing and do a ridiculous risk reversal. I hope this helps.

I would encourage you to ask them a lot of questions to understand why they're even comparing another solution to yours. First one should be something like "Tell me a little bit more about why you like [competitor] - what are some things they do that you really like?" Then you take their answer and say something like "Got it, so you like x, y, z about [competitor]. I can totally understand that! Here's how we're different..." and then explain how your product does the same things your competitor does, but in a different and better way.
You don't have to be an expert in your market. You just have to ask great questions and get to the root of why your prospect might be considering a competitor - they will tell you what you need to know to be able to come back with a solid response.

I love @PatrickRodo reply. Makes sense. Just don't try to "lie" to a client. If you don't know, and it is importantly, admit it and come back. But as Patrick Rodo says, you don't always have to know.

It seems like curiosity is the overall goal. If you get them curious enough, the sale is almost a done deal. Provided they actually need the product/service.

In my experience you do it by getting ahead of it. What I mean by that is you consistently check in with your customers to see how they're doing and you address any concerns right then and there. There's a point where they are too far gone and will cancel regardless, so by checking in frequently you can assess their experience and sort out any problems when they happen versus trying to convince them things will be better after they've already made up their mind to cancel.

I am not Patrick, but i would try to look at the very same thing that salespeople do when they are dealing with a sales slump i.e. looking at low hanging fruit /easy wins. Hope this helps
