  • Become an amazing improviser in 2023 by following this simple method. I've been using this approach for a few years now and it's utterly transformed my playing. By focusing on transcribing the solos of a single musician we cna really get inside their music and learn directly from the source!

I just discovered a saxophonist named Bill Leslie who recorded on the old Argo label back in the late fifties/early sixties. He played a version of Ornette Coleman’s “Lonely Woman” in 1961 that’s just beautiful, in my opinion!

Oh I haven't heard of Bill Leslie, I'll have to check out that record!

The last time I heard you play Sticks was back in 2012. (Yep, I've been following your work for that long). I'd love to hear it again when you get to grips with it this year.

What is ‘Transcibe’? Is it an app for mobile or software for pc? Or both? Does it support Spotify? I was using the ASD but it no longer supports Spotify. Thanks. Your teaching videos are great!

Transcribe is PC & Mac software, there's no phone app as far as I know! It doesn't support spotify in the way that ASD used to, but you can record computer audio directly into transcribe, which would allow you to 'import' any spotify track into it. Glad you like the videos!!
