I have been watching the château films one after another and love them all. You Dan are so easy to look at. Your hair and teeth and your wit have me hooked. So I never knew about this house and the darling children. I’m sure you get many compliments from your growing audience. Loved reaching the fourth floor!! Who is that woman? Is she the nanny? Keep up the great work on the beautiful French Chateau!!
I think Annaliese's sweater has all the perfect colors for the kitchen. Look at the beige/peachy colors with the gray and off-white. They all go together.
Full length shelves along the top of the tiles on either side of the hearth would be great for large platters, etc would give you some colour you'd want.
I like just the plain white walls. In Scandinavian style, they use white walls to great effect, bringing in warmth with textures eg. woods, your existing stone walls etc. Keep it simple as it goes with the rest of the vibe in your kitchen.
What’s cool about the tiles is that they have the modern look, like the cabinets, but they also carry the irregular/ regular pattern of the wall stones. Actually it was a very inspired choice! Well done!
Other than dealing with family health problems, I can’t imagine too many things more stressful than renovating a house that you’re living in, especially with young children. Kudos to you. You’re very likeable people 😄
hate laptops! Unless you know exactly where the the timber studs are behind the tiles... we had measured before hand and used iron brackets, have a shelf each side of the range/cooker, so happy with them.
Definitely a wooden shelf that would be matching the colour of the beams.. Colour wise.. I would try and match the colour that's in between the stonework.. Or keep it a fresh white.. Its all personal preference.. But defo wooden shelving to keep it all rustic.. Looking forward to what colour you both choose 😊👍
loved spending time today with you Dan Analise and the boys...the kitchen is coming along beautifully....wishing you all much love in your new home..Dan I am so awaiting your next cooking video...Be well stay safe xoxo
Love the discussion of colors. At one time (still?) Dulux made a color called "Seashell'. The slightest hint of color that you would find inside a seashell. I used it in three South-facing rooms that opened on to each other. Nice warmth without adding heat Compliments the brick.
Love the idea of uneven paint finish (like venetian plaster or just apply the paint with a brush in overlapping x-patterns) the same color as the mortar between the stonework...warm and sunny and creates less chaos as there is a lot going on in that room, so it would let the paint stand back and let the rest of the bolder structural and kitchen elements be the focus instead of pulling the eye to the walls.
An emergency fix for a broken fan belt is a pair of nylon tights or stockings. It doesn’t last long but it will get you home with out overheating or damage to the car.
Greetings from South Africa, we love following your journey, watching your cooking and that kitchen is coming along so beautifully OMG! It's stunning. The exposed beam, the new tiles 😱😍 we had a debate in the family taking turns saying what color we would paint the walls, my partner and I settled on a soft sage green. Lol. We are so excited to keep following you on this journey Albert & Keagan .
I think some edging tile would finish the three tile look or wood shelving for display. Pearly pale pale pink beige would add a warm glow to walls. Happy paint hunting!
Urgh, I was so relieved for your sake that your car is okay. Decades back I had a very bad experience with my old car, and I know that feeling of worry. Sooooo glad it is okay! Also so glad that it is not only my husband uttering "naughty words" in frustration while struggling with a broken down car! LOL! Your kitchen is looking so beautiful everytime I watch your renovations! Congratulations on a job well done!
I think i with all the brick work you want a soft warm tone to blend the tie, the wood and the brickwork. Just a thought. Maybe a blush peachy sandy tone. Very soft. Do test patches and live with them in different lights for a day or so before you decide.
Dan. I think the paint effect your recalling is Venetian plaster. It would really look nice and reflect both the natural light and the light from the chandelier.
I think you might be right. I looked up a quick link to save some time (not saying this is the right link). Unlike “rag rolling” (popular in the 80’s), it has the shininess they mentioned. www.thespruce.com/apply-venetian-plaster-1398139
Pick a mid color out if the exposed brick and work with it. Experiment with lights and darks, add the chalkiness and shimmer you both like that will catch the lights from the awesome chandelier. You are both creative and talented! Have fun! 💗🥂🍾
Those tiles are lovely and will catch the light. I think as you have brick as well just paint the walls white but finish the tiles with a chrome trim. Great work.
Very palest blush would look amazing it would be warm and really bring out the stonework. Angel Strawbridge at Chateau de la Motte Huson has used a very subtle blush paint with a pearlescent/ glitter texture and it looks fabulous. The “ this way that way” technique is called Scumbling.
When it comes to cleaning splashes, you would never regret having that third tile, instead of paint. And for colour, what about a soft caramel tone to reference the stone and brick. You can have too much white (hard to accept, but true).
I love the modern and rustic together. The sleek appliances and baroque chandelier work so well and the geometric pattern in the tiles matches the facets in the chandelier crystals. Great choices!
Hi Dan , seen you at the Chateau and found your own RUclips channel. Absolutely love your vlogs , watching you create your amazing kitchen, studio you have a brilliant personality and character, absolutely beautiful wife in Anne-Marie and two lovely boys , wishing you all the very best
Annelise you are so dang sweet:) love watching you guys and those darling little dudes of yours💜 P.s. really dig those tiles, they bounce the light really well.👍🏼
It depends where the counter actually ends. If it goes beyond all those panels, then I would agree that it would look best to continue the tile, but I’m not sure the counter actually goes that far. If it doesn’t, then I would end the tile where the countertop ends.
The Venetian plaster look Dan was describing would look great on your kitchen walls if the color is light and subtle. Just plain white walls would be another fabulous option. Annalise's plants and your cool kitchen accessories both would look great against white walls.
I really love the tiles. They remind me of Spaceship Earth at Disney World. I mean that in a good way lol. You guys have great taste. Kitchen is really looking great.
Another nice effect is either a thin plaster with sand added then painted on. Or something I also once did was add sand to the paint. Both times looked great & hid any plaster imperfections.
Yesss love your idea for the paint, it’s called Venetian and it goes on kind of like plaster you go back-and-forth so that it has different tones to it and you can do that with a slight opal look.
How about silk white finish above the beams to reflect lovely light from the chandelier and mink colour below (pink tone of grey /beige to tone with brick and appliance colours). I love choosing colour palattes for rooms. Good luck Dan and Annaleise ❤👍
As you have stainless steel, the threw high is nice, maybe paint the rest in a slate grey a bit darker than the stainless steel. It would bring out all the woods, the rock, leaving the ceiling white with the chandelier cascading the light down.
Before Annalisa said pink I was thinking a really pale pink wash would look lovely. A wash where the colour is not solid but just a hint of the tone. Shimmery sound good too.
I love the idea of a Venetian plaster look in creams (slightly warm creams, Analise knows her color theory). It would warm the space but mostly give movement, cover all imperfections and give an older feel. No one had smooth perfect walls back in the day.
Luv those tiles never seen them before! Would have checked how "brick stacked" looked tho. My first time seeing your channel & I'm Subscribing Now! Great Content! & Thomas is Really Cute too! Added: Oops I didn't know their were 2 shorties, they r Both Cuties! C this is what happens when u comment BEFORE watching the whole video! Thanks!!!
Love the kitchen............
Hi Dan and Annalise love your beautiful family boys are so happy and cute love your blogs bless you all

Love your kitchen 😍 So spacious!
I really enjoyed seeing such a humble and down to earth couple building a home together. Much more relatable than most. Best of wishes to you all.
Me too. What a lovely pair
Annalise, don't apologize, you did nothing wrong! When belts snap, they are no ones fault.
I think Annaliese's sweater has all the perfect colors for the kitchen. Look at the beige/peachy colors with the gray and off-white. They all go together.

I like that idea!
Love that idea!
Brilliant idea, I may give you a shout when I do my kitchen,
that was my first thought when they were holding them up
Yes, with wrought iron brackets and reclaimed wood. I know where he can get a few trees... 😜
I really like Dan’s jumper! The tile looks really good. Jack’s evil laugh is too cute!
I like just the plain white walls. In Scandinavian style, they use white walls to great effect, bringing in warmth with textures eg. woods, your existing stone walls etc. Keep it simple as it goes with the rest of the vibe in your kitchen.
Dan can do everything! Amazing!
A mechanic cook and DYI. That’s talent. Like the tile looks clean
Very cool tiles!
What’s cool about the tiles is that they have the modern look, like the cabinets, but they also carry the irregular/ regular pattern of the wall stones.
Actually it was a very inspired choice! Well done!
Love the tile- 3 high with a plate rail 👍👍
Can’t tell you how many times my husband and I worked on our cars. I’d pray for patience and wisdom and yes there were a few naughty words.
I like the notion of matching the paint to the mortar between the stones. :)
For you folks, your boys were supervising. For the Pethericks, the dogs & cats were supervising...just an observation!
Other than dealing with family health problems, I can’t imagine too many things more stressful than renovating a house that you’re living in, especially with young children. Kudos to you. You’re very likeable people 😄
Perhaps a shelf over the sink, lovely place to show off white platters, and large bowls
Great idea!
This is what we did, it's a great idea but needs to be planned before you start, unless you know exactly
hate laptops! Unless you know exactly where the the timber studs are behind the tiles... we had measured before hand and used iron brackets, have a shelf each side of the range/cooker, so happy with them.
I love your wife's accent! Very English.
Your kitchen is beautiful! I love the mixture of brick, stone, and wood. Theres not much decor needs adding. Its a design creation in itself.
Hi, its Matt from California ! I believe the technique you are looking for is called GLAZING.🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌🖌
Kitchen is Dan's domain, you can tell he is the boss.
Love those tiles!!
Give that woman a hug, car trouble is so disturbing
🙋🏻♀️ I vote for 3 tiles capped with an open shelf from reclaimed wood.
What a fabulous renovation you are doing!
It looks great 👍
Seems like you're taking about Venetian plaster and it would look amazing!! 👌
This shows up in my feed quite a bit! Now I have finally watched it! Love the tiles!
Good job on fixing the van. Good idea having an older van you can fix yourself.
loved spending time today with you Dan Analise and the boys...the kitchen is coming along beautifully....wishing you all much love in your new home..Dan I am so awaiting your next cooking video...Be well stay safe xoxo

Thats good to know!
Oh Jack and Thomas they always steal the show in the most adorable way.
Looks very professional

Albert & Keagan .

Oh bless her. Annalise, I've had a belt snap and it's so scary. Glad you made it home safe. I love the new tiles.
Nice collection of cool books … a shelf to display them will look really nice. Thank you for sharing 💞
Urgh, I was so relieved for your sake that your car is okay. Decades back I had a very bad experience with my old car, and I know that feeling of worry. Sooooo glad it is okay!

Tiles are great. Texture instead of color is a good choice in that space!
I think i with all the brick work you want a soft warm tone to blend the tie, the wood and the brickwork. Just a thought. Maybe a blush peachy sandy tone. Very soft. Do test patches and live with them in different lights for a day or so before you decide.
3 high, cap off with rustic wood floating shelves for white China etc, etc
I agree, Sounds Good!
Agreed as well 3 high but I’m guessing they’ve got them up now as I’m watching these vlogs for the first time in July 😂 lol
😂😂😂I had to laugh at " After a few naughty words". You two are adorable. Loving the choice of texture like tiles. ✅✅✅✅✅✅✅
Personally I would have left it with 2 tiles as the kitchen is amazing such a beautiful room
Enjoyed the video! Those little boys are so cute! Thank you
Dan. I think the paint effect your recalling is Venetian plaster. It would really look nice and reflect both the natural light and the light from the chandelier.

I think you just need a small bullnose tile to cap it off.
A champagne color that has a slight rose gold shimmer undertone
When it comes to cleaning splashes, you would never regret having that third tile, instead of paint. And for colour, what about a soft caramel tone to reference the stone and brick. You can have too much white (hard to accept, but true).

I think a lovely teal blue would really show up the beautiful chandelier and also go with the stainless steel cabinets.
There is an off white paint with just a touch of pink that really looks like candlelight in the evening.
Annelise you are so dang sweet:) love watching you guys and those darling little dudes of yours💜 P.s. really dig those tiles, they bounce the light really well.👍🏼
You are such versatile and talented people, you can turn your hands to do anything. When did you learn it all - you're amazing!
Don't worry about the Von! Just replaced the belt. Let the van cool off first. Boys are looking good. God bless you all.
Love the tiles and the look. Great choice. You have such nice light in the kitchen! Once again, Dan to the rescue!!!
Don’t give up when you have done such a good job stopping it and not cutting around the plugs will look odd. Keep going you can do it!!👍🤞😁
Agreed
It depends where the counter actually ends. If it goes beyond all those panels, then I would agree that it would look best to continue the tile, but I’m not sure the counter actually goes that far. If it doesn’t, then I would end the tile where the countertop ends.
The tiles are really neat. They add nice texture!! I enjoy hearing you both brainstorm ideas. Love from Vermont
Your boys are adorable... glad the van is all fixed. Kitchen is looking wonderful
The Venetian plaster look Dan was describing would look great on your kitchen walls if the color is light and subtle. Just plain white walls would be another fabulous option. Annalise's plants and your cool kitchen accessories both would look great against white walls.
The boys are beautiful and so eager to help.
Paint it white, so the Chandelier and kitchen aren't competing with another colour. The shelving idea is a good one. Loving your work.
Venetian plaster is what I think Dan is talking about for the walls. A sky blue color would be cool like looking at the open sky thru the beems.
The tiles look great as they are with white grout ,it will look so sleek. X
Tiles look great.
Polished plaster would look fantastic. Please cut around the end plugs etc. Otherwise it will look bogged!
Your little chaps are gorgeous.
You are a Dan of all trades!
Yeah, blush pinky/brown with an old plastering. I see what she is saying. It would go really well with the brick
Love the ideas. Matching the paint color with the lime color between the rocks and bricks will make all look cohesive - merely a suggestion!
I love the rustic look of the brick in your kitchen! This is going to be beautiful 😍
Great stuff, love you all.
Yesss love your idea for the paint, it’s called Venetian and it goes on kind of like plaster you go back-and-forth so that it has different tones to it and you can do that with a slight opal look.
Yes Venetian!
Yes, the plaster goes on with a trowel and you burnish it with a trowel after it’s dried for the shading and a little gloss on the tip of each wave.
I did Venetian plaster many years in both my kitchen and bathroom and I LOVE IT STILL. You have many many talents! It looks great!
Beautiful tiles, Dan! Well done!
Pure and original paint would look nice!
How about silk white finish above the beams to reflect lovely light from the chandelier and mink colour below (pink tone of grey /beige to tone with brick and appliance colours). I love choosing colour palattes for rooms. Good luck Dan and Annaleise ❤👍
Two high with a similar colour border tile to finish it off would be really nice.
Duck egg blue would look nice in your kitchen.comming along beautifully.
Very smart well done guys
What a beauty! It brings back the wonderful glee in the house when it was installed. Your kitchen is so gleaming.
love the tile!
Why are you saying sorry for the car trouble...you were great to get it home without damaging the engine - yay 😃.
👍kitchen is starting to look really nice. 💖
To the toppppp... I lv the tile... top top top....lol . And paint up top should bright and white.. like an antique white... not off white..
I love the idea of a Venetian plaster look in creams (slightly warm creams, Analise knows her color theory). It would warm the space but mostly give movement, cover all imperfections and give an older feel. No one had smooth perfect walls back in the day.
