- Remember the man who told us the chateau had cellars in the 1940s? This week we take the drastic step to break the floor indoors to look for them!
We are Marc, Amy, Clement and Juliette, a French-English family restoring a 33 room medieval chateau and huge estate in southern France. Follow our award-winning, historically-sensitive restorations and our journey towards self-sufficiency and sustainability, with plenty of laughter along the way.

This new intro is fire! Super cool!
Loved seeing the little man helping. Thank you. ❤🎉❤🎉😊
When Marc was poking the hole in the wall to check the void, I couldn't help but notice that the wall to his right looks like an arched doorway that's been rocked in. Has that been investigated?
I was thinking the same thing!
Me too!
Yep we know from tapping on walls that it led directly into what is now the grand salon. Sadly no mysteries behind that one!
Awesome, intrepid explorers! Yes, we will stay tuned. 😘❤
Most fascinating chateau on the planet ❤❤❤
Why thank you!
Well done! Great intro… so happy to see another post from you.
The music intro was brilliant, had my feet and fingers tapping all the way through it. Sue Laban.
So intriguing and exciting. Have a lovely family visit. I have faith in Marc. If there’s an entrance he will find it. Clement is so very cute. ❤️❤️❤️
It was a joy seeing Clement helping out. He is just like his dad. ❤
You guys are really upping your games!! I can't wait! Like you have already worked miracles there! 🎉❤😊
Exciting. Like an archeological dig right under your own home. Clement was really enjoying being part of the dig. Happy to start seeing this part of exploring the chateau. Good luck.
But why dig it up when you could drill a hole and shove a camera down?
Oooooo, a lovely treat, down the cellars!😊❤
Ave every confidence that Marc will find the cellars.
Barb is right. You are really upping your game - and doing it well! I liked your “old game” but this is even more interesting.
Everyone likes a good mystery, hopefully you'll find long lost gold!!! Kathy USA 🇺🇸
Well another beautiful day in the dirt… what your finding is really interesting. Putting back together another project that’s been hidden for years! So cool…
Oh, Amy! You must have been really ill to miss this archeological dig. 😢I can't wait to see what else is discovered. It's just odd that there are so many unexplained voids, and that the level you're working on only goes under 1/4 of the chateau. 🤔
Hope you’ll find something in the end! Meanwhile it’s fun to watch. What a help Clement will be as he gets older. He’s so willing to take part ❤
So intriguing ❤❤❤Hope you find the cellar someday 💪🙏😍😘
Hi all! We are visiting with relatives at our annual family gathering. Will miss the live chat but will catch up soon! 🥰🥰
How cute is Clement being one of the helpers. ❤
So good to see a Kiwi (Dave) working on what could be an exciting ancient discovery.
I'm sure you guys have already thought of this but the wall that's to the right of where Mark has his arm in the wall saying there's a draft you can tell that there is an archway that they filled up with Stones up to the archway. That could have been an opening at one point I bet. This is so exciting looking for history in the walls and under ground.
Jason and Dave should have had ear protection and a mask. Too late now😊I love the comedy duo of Jason and Dave! Love that Clement got to work with the rest of the men.❤
They had ear protection - ear plugs inside their ears.
Always interesting, no matter what you find. You always know more than you did before! 🙂♥️
Very exciting. Great soundtrack too!
Ohhh, the suspense!!! 😊
😊 very interesting! And Clement is going to have so many awesome memories of working with his daddy!!❤
Ay up it must be summer, the sandals are back out 😁
#sandalwatch
You guys never cease to amaze me. That's why I love this channel and adore you all.
Looking forward to the next episode!! ⛏⚒
Being so close to a Roman era road, I have often wondered if there ar any Roman artifact at the Castle
Exciting and worth the continued exploration.
Hello from Oshawa, Canada. Love your journey of renovating chateau alongside taking good care of your sweet family
Great vlog, Amy + Marc! I'm confident you will find the cellars you seek! 😊
I wish I had your confidence! (And Marc's!)
How amazing if you found artifacts 😊, I'm sure you sometimes do. But the whole place is treasure ❤.
Good fun lap at it. By the way, sending an important package tomorrow. Have fun!
Darling that Clement wants to help.
Clermont is very helpful 🤗👍 Intresting video hope you find something soon 🤔🍀🤗👍 🌹💐🌹
Love Sue ❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤🇬🇧
Howard Carter in 1922.... came to my mind. Love your chanel! ❤
Thank you!
Keep digging and researching 🎉🎉🎉
Lovely new into xx
Well, it was fun anyway! We still can anticipate more adventures in the future. 😂
Love the music!🎶
Here’s a question for Marc: I have watched 5 or 6 RUclipsrs digging up 20th century concrete. Why doesn’t anyone dig up rebar?
You can see a blocked up doorway right by where you were removing the plaster of the wall to the right. The shape is obvious on camera.
Sure is! It leads right to another room sadly, not down or up anywhere!
Very interesting looking forward to the next video on this project
Hello from Oshawa ,Canada. Really enjoying your family's journey renovating your
chateau while raising your adorable family. Wishing you much success.
How exciting!
Sooo exciting!
Great music thank you ☺️
Are you sure it’s not an oubliette? 😱
clement is working for his college fund i think?
Or biscuits...
Disappointed, like everyone... We want a cellar full of treasures!
Love the Music
Can't wait❤
It looks. Exciting 🇬🇧🇬🇧🍷🍷
Intro all looks very professional well done whoever thought through this professional presentation.🇬🇧🇬🇧🍷🍷
Blasting power with move rock quicker and is a lot more fun! 😂
Там, где Вы снимали штукатурку со стены, справа явно заложенны камнями арочный проход.
Interesting !
use LIDAR to map area.
❤❤❤
If it was there and they sealed it up or elsewhere I wonder if you will have to bring in beams to make it safe as this is sometimes why some would seal them up if they aren't structurally safe to use anymore.
Definitely something we've been thinking about. The key will be to take a lot of care if we ever find them!
Maybe some type of coloured smoke can show where it goes
German hidden gold!😊
👏👏👏👏
Better luck next time!
vous auriez dû louer un détecteur de cavité :)))
Those two are nutters. They may have watched too much Time Team. 😊
It's quite possible...
🤩🤩🤩🤩
✨🌞✨
Like the video but just a quick question, is EERR a word in French? and if so what the translation?
Please wear ear protection....exciting excavations😮
They had proper ear plugs, don't worry!
At 20:24 you can very plainly see an old arch, with various stones filling the area below it. Thaose "fill stones" appear to have been tampered with previously - note the partial void in the middle of the fill. What do you know of what is beyond that large stone fill? Maybe that is where you should be investigating??
Unfortunately that bit’s not mysterious. It passes straight into the living room!
Is jason single?
Married to the lovely Michaela who was also staying with us!
Amy when you look at the wall that is opposite the door frame it looks like that arch has been filled in. It is always great to be able to uncover hidden things in your Chateau. Thank you for sharing your adventures.
No hidden cellar here but it's clean & usable 👏👏🫶
