I still remember when I bought one plus 6 on it’s launch date back in 2018 and just after 3 days it was pick pocketed at Hauz khas metro station. That was my first and only experience of getting pickpocketed. It was 10:30 at night and I had no idea what to do next. For an hour I just stood at the station clueless. The next day I tried filing an official police complaint at the police station and this was more hurtful for me than getting my phone stolen. The cops didn’t entertain my complaint and just said “Ye sab toh hota reheta hai. Iski kya complaint likhein.” But if a VIP’s phone get stolen, it’ll take 2 hours for the cops to find it and bringit back to the person. A common man just have to take it like a good little boy.

Those are the strongest security as well as 2-factor authentication on as many of your accounts as possible, plus a one-password wallet application with a master password which nobody else but yourself should know. The other time in NYC. It was more a bump and run. I was waiting at a corner, trying to cross the street. One guy bumped me from one direction, and the other bumped me from another direction. Both of them took off at full speed, going different ways. The good news is this was so long ago that I lost mainly travelers' checks. I was able to get back most of that money once I reported them stolen.

While I can appreciate people trying to recycle things and keep things out of landfills I don't like at all people selling stolen phones, giving an easy way for criminals and pickpockets from keep doing what they are doing. It also is a shame because there are plenty of people who don't know any better and would be fooled into buying a phone they can't even use, doesn't work, is blocked, and so on. At same time I hate companies who try to stop you from selling or trade things you purchased, like things you buy these days aren't really yours and they only want you to sell it back to them at basically no value and pay full price for a new phone. I miss the days when we could buy games or other electronics and we fully owned them and could do anything we wanted with them.

Good job Karl! Another reason why you see only old phones is when a stolen/lost phone is reported to the police, they put the IMEI on watch list and monitor whenever one of these is turned on and used by a cellular network.. So these criminals, they put these phones/laptops in storage for many years till they become obsolete.. With hundreds of phones getting stolen in India every single day, the police cant maintain the list and eventually remove the older records from the watchlist...

i live in india for so many years and yet i didn't know where these phones go after they have been stolen, in december 2019 on christmas a kid stole our 2 phones and because of google i was able to see that for the last time my phone was turned on in kolkata then i wiped it remotely..... there have been news of stealing rackets that use kids and you won't actually suspect a kid. we only found out how our phones were stolen because of CCTV otherwise child was so slick that you wouldn't notice at all

Selling 'stolen' items is also a common sales strategy in markets that deal in grey market goods. It's a similar concept to 'garage sale' which creates an illusion that everything will be dirt cheap. Nice tour bro albeit the bored as f sales guys😄

After watching your videos for some time I've decided India is one of the last places I'd ever want to visit. It seems extremely dangerous. So much so that you sell a book on how to stay safe. Low food standards, countless scams, and rape culture. This country seems unsafe and better off viewed through RUclips videos like yours. Your videos are great and I'll continue to watch them but I can't fathom the concept that you believe everyone should visit India.

Good video ! It's always interesting seeing the underground black markets. I wouldn't shop there though, firstly I don't want to encourage theft, secondly I don't trust the vendors. What's the point of those phones that aren't charged ?! Who would buy that ?

    great video, and very interesting..!!
in barcelona's railway stations they have signs saying "beware of pick pockets.."- and your instinct is to check your pockets (by touching them) to make sure your valuable items are still there... and the pickpockets who hang around now know exactly what pockets to pinpoint..
i was in naples and in the back lanes where guys om mopeds asking if i wanted to buy a mobile phone...one assumes they just stole in minutes earlier..
