- Can you drive a 2 Wheel Drive truck in San dunes? The Answer is yes, but it is not as easy as a driving a four-wheel-drive truck. You have to make sure that you lower your air pressure, and that you have enough ground clearance to get up and down the dunes. And you have to be much more careful when driving to Sand dunes in a 2 Wheel Dr. truck to make sure you have enough momentum going uphill so that you don’t get stuck. All that being said, it is definitely possible to drive a 2 Wheel drive truck on the Sandune’s. It helps if you have a friend in a four-wheel-drive truck to pull you out when you get stuck.
In my 4WD jeep going offroad I always lock the front hubs (don't like wading through mud unless I want to), but don't go to 4WD on the transfer unless I'm on the verge of being stuck. I've found that if you go "Full" 4WD and find yourself on the verge of getting stuck, you're ALREADY stuck. So, in practice I always go "Two-Wheeling" in the woods, expect when I need a bit more.

Probably not. Those have a lot more grip, but you can’t use them on the street.

What pressure should I use to be able to drive in to these dunes? It is possible?
Yes. You can do that. I’ve been out there with people in 2 Wheel Dr. mode. Try going down to 12 psi.
they do this a lot in saudi arabia actually they enjoy driving toyota pick ups with only two wheel drive types because its more fun for off roading drifting and when u get stuck put it in first and lift your foot from the clutch and floor the clutch and etc etc *let the car roll forward and backward* i my self tried this technique its much easier and yes it might burn down your clutch if u were deep down stuck in the sand and your clutch is bad

I've manage to do it on a mud puddle on a rainy day. Back and forth and tight your ass cheeks.

When stuck in a bowl with 2wd. Just go in circles until you’re carrying enough momentum
That does n’t help a lot, I have some that before and it didn’t work I nearly flipped it instead just spinning sideways

Idk why people make such a big issue about 2wheel drive. They're fun! i respect anyone that just has fun in the dirt or off road. Get what you can afford and have fun! i have a 99 3rd gen 4runner sr5 2WD and i have lots of fun off roading in sand and mud. Believe it or not, even doing a little bit of crawling. Cant go super all out with crawling. But enough to have fun.

Yeah! When you’re pushing a truck in the sand, you never want to be behind the back wheel.
You better keep your foot on the gas and have a good posi trac/locker rear end. I just got stuck in the sand in my 2WD F150. The trail went from straight dirt and rocks to deep sand and by the time I realized I had gone too far it was too late. My uncle had to pull me out with his '72 F100 and a wench. My 1 tire was completely buried.

It’s still as great as ever! We try to get up there once a year at least. You should do a paddle tire on your Honda 500 and get out there. I’m afraid to ride any of my dirt bikes out there because I don’t want to ruin them with all that sand.
I actually did take my 500 out there once, it was awful haha I rode out for like 5 minutes, fell, picked it up and rode straight back to camp and got on a 4-wheeler for the rest of the day.

@@hoohoohoblin I'm out on Cape Lookout Island, NC as I type this, the sand is super fine and deep. I've been driving in 2wd just because I wanted to see how this 04 Suburban with locking rear diff would do, cause that's what guys do... Lol. It does very well, on Cooper street tires aired down to 18 psi no real issues, however some places I don't even try, I know better and hit the 4wd button.
