My struggle is instant gratification for buying ‘things’ when I’m sad and stressed out. Instead of meditating, or working out to feel those emotions, I open up Amazon, or a cellphone game and start making purchases.
I think this will be the main area I focus on for the next month.

Aww. Well, maybe you can at least buy things once a week? You could try putting things in your cart without purchasing them until the evening or until friday rolls around. I find that sometimes the excitement of putting something in your cart is enough. Whenever a distraction creeps up on me when I'm doing deep work, I write it down instead of chasing it. More often than not I don't find whatever I wrote down to be as exciting later when I actually have distraction time to check it out. A similar system might work for you? Also decluttering helps. Once you see the types of things that you are regularly letting go of, you might feel less of a desire to look for them later. I hope that helps! 😊

@My_Butt I can't relate to your struggles too much, being a person who has had to be strict with myself for most of my life, but, remember no matter how sad you are, you deserve that money, not Amazon. Very especially if this is a "want" item and not a "need" one. I constantly ask myself the want vs need question, and it keeps me severely in line. I don't want corporations eating my money on feel good junk or impulse buys.
Good luck to you! Discipline with your money will keep you more in power and control.

Great advice. When I was buying my first renters insurance, they offered me Premium insurance which will replace broken TV when it drops from the stand etc. I said to have no TV and I do not drop anything. Everything I buy is cheap, but quality. The price was instantly less yearly when I dropped that offer. Then I dropped your own fee in insurance to €400 from €200 and it dropped again.
I use Penno budgeting software, and it's free. Just like you, I make reminders to make a new deal on phone and electricity (and few more with annual discount).
The most way to save is this: on payday make your money work for you, do not work for money. Save or invest 20-40% of your income on payday! You get naturally a budget. If one had poor dad, good chances are that person will have poor life. Rich dad on the other hand is the opposite. If you are rich person, you understand that you should work to live and this way make money work.
I am glad to hear your opinion on saving and I am waiting to hear more on budgeting which interests me as well.

Thank you for sharing your personal story, it's really nice to hear you had a similar experience! I need a software to recommend to people outside of Germany, so I will have a go with Penno this month and mention it when someone asks!
I started investing this year and I'm really excited to see how that goes. I see you are inspired by rich dad, poor dad too and I thought it was a very eye opening book. It turned out the guy made the story up, but it almost doesn't matter. It's very true! For now I am only investing in one ETF, but I am hoping to branch out as I feel more reassured and knowledgeable about it.

Oh! Not yet unfortunately, but we do budget everything we buy so I feel like at this point I'd be able to set it up much easier. It's good to gather data first!

The subscription sharing theme is especially lucrative for people like me who only want to watch some series or movie every now and then.
Furthermore, if I want something from Amazon (I buy there often supplies in larger quantities to save) I can ask a friend who can order me the things with his Prime account and I do not have to pay shipping costs.
In general, if possible, look that you buy storable things in larger quantities. That had saved me a lot~. But you should really compare because the prices and quality can vary greatly.
It was e.g. long time ago that RUclipsr have promoted a certain page that also offers something like that. And the quality is probably really great, but for someone like me it would be way too expensive there xx.

Hey there, please forgive me for replying so late, I really cherish your input and I was so happy to read what you shared! I hope you had a good new years' and Christmas holidays and you are ready for the next season of life. I wish you health, love and happiness for the future!
Your tips are really good and I really agree that having subscriptions for so many things that you barely use is as wasteful as having a car that sits in your garage 99% of the time, but you have to keep paying. Amazon too, so many people have it that surely someone you know does too. I haven't really bought anything in larger quantities at all, so that's one tip that I will look to apply more this year. Especially if something is on sale at the moment. I have no idea about the website you mentioned, but many of them have huge margins so it's better to find a solution elsewhere.
Take care, I hope you are doing well!

Hey Rachel, thank you so much, I'm also really glad you found me - you are so kind! 💕 I have a little background story written up in the description, but the essence of it is that I've been doing web-development and linux network administration ever since I was in university. I wouldn't say you need a degree to do everything that I do, however, I learned a lot of things online on coursera. I hope you have a lovely day and that this helps 😋

@@AntoniatheUniverse Thank you for the reply!! You're also really kind! I'm actually in college now and do web development! I haven't looked into everything yet but I didn't realize I could do web development part-time. I'm definitely going to look into that more, thank you! Did you work for a company part time or was is more freelance? Thank you again for your help, and keep up the amazing videos!!

Well sharing is definitely helpful, but I lived like this long before I knew my partner, it was just in a smaller home in the same city 😁 Definitely doable!
