I’m one of those folks and have a lot of friends who feel the same way. We hate the rubber tips in our ears. I got my AirPod 4 with noise cancellation and quite happy with them. The smaller size fits better in my ear than the 3s. The 3s would regularly fall out.
I have a hearing disorder, and Pro 1 and 2 are good for reducing loud noises and background noises making it easier to hear people talking in crowded spaces. I like that Pro 2 is easier to charge and find.

i have airpods second generation and have pre ordered the airpods 4 with ANC. i’ve accustomed to no silicone tip and i’m excited to have new airpods that don’t have it and also come with more features!
I can tell you, these are almost as good as the gen 1/2. They're like 90% of the comfort which is good enough for me, because the anc is a huge upgrade over what I have now.
I’m glad you mentioned the “open ears” anatomy that is definitely a dealbreaker to hold the non-pro AirPods. The AirPods Pro, for the most part, solves this problem, especially if you use high quality original Comply foam tips which are a substantial improvement over the silicone tips in the box. Definitely getting AirPods 4, I have had my AirPod pros 2 since they came out and I hate them, yes the noise cancellation is good and yes the sound is good but I can’t wear them for more than 10 mins without them starting to fall off and forget trying to run or work out with them, impossible, and before anyone says, yes I’ve tried all three different types of tips and NONE of them work, so if the noise cancellation can be half as good as the pros than that’s all I need

I bought the first version of the pros, and I was so disappointed with them, none of the silicone tips could fit properly so my ears got sore after just a few minutes, and everything single crackling sound was just so disturbing. Never had that issue with version one two or three, so I might consider version 4 anc 😊

Wearing earbuds upside down is very common. I used to do it all the time with mine. Also it looks like his ear canal just slopes upwards, not that he’s wearing them upside down

So FYI, the pros are in-ear earphones, not earbuds or buds. I know a lot of people and companies get this wrong. Regular AirPods are earbuds because they sit outside the ear canal.

The pros and cons work is with different ears however, even when you smile, they’ll pop out or they tickle as they slip out. One problem I have noticed with every gen after 2 is no one can hear me well on phone calls but they can hear me well through apps. It’s weird. Gen 2 is more clear on both phone and apps.
One thing is that you can’t really compare them one is in war and one is ear pod style that hurt peoples ear.. well let me put it this way pros sit in the ear like normal earbuds so both give out totally different sound
Im really curious about the “Hearing Aid” tidbit. I’m not a doctor by any means but if there’s anyone in the medical field in the comments, how would this be used in the real world? I know hearing aids are expensive but could doctors prescribe people Air Pod Pros or something if enough data shows the patient suffers from hearing loss. Are these analytics from Apple even reliable? I just got a feeling that in 2-3 years, there’s going to be a blog about someone with hearing loss that has a negative experience with the Air Pod Pros so I’m just trying to understand lmao
They can already kind of be used as hearing aids. If you play around with the accessibility settings you can pretty much zoom in to far away conversations.
I actually enjoy the AirPods 3 for home use, but outside use AirPods Pro is the best but only with different ear tips. I'm interested in trying the AirPods 4 ANC. But some AirFoams Pro Ultra ear tips for APP is great. Can't wait for APP3!

AirPods Pro 2 reached an unreal low price of $168.99 during Amazon’s Prime Day. 🤯 Just wait until Thanksgiving time if you miss this one. So , I’m a little crazy about Apple products. I have the Pro 2’s, AirPods Max’s, and the new 4s. I’m completely switching my everyday carry AirPods to the new AirPods 4. They’re unbelievably light, they stay in my ears way better than the Pro 2’s (like no comparison), the noise canceling is good enough for me for everyday tasks, and the case footprint is wild- how small it is.
I don’t like the Pros if I am talking on the phone or if I just need to pop one in quickly. I have the pro 2 and the AirPods 4 anc. I think the pro 2 is more for the travel/airplane use. AirPods 4 anc are for calls and meetings on a day to day basis.

I would have loved to get the pros. But I bought the 4s with noise cancellations because my ears wont accept the silicone tipped earbuds. It spits them right back out. So glad the 4s came out because I wanted some of the features the pros were offering. Perfect product apple thank you. And the noise cancellation works great its like a magic trick its hard ti believe this technology exists now lol.
If you want to read my personal experience with both then give this a read and let me know your opinion if you’d like. I have just got the AirPod Pro 2s for my birthday last week and I was so unsure on them with the silicone tips at first, so I bought the AirPod 4s yesterday to compare them both. The Pro 2’s sound wise along with the noise cancellation is ten times better 100%. My only worry was that the first day I was wearing them they were hurting the inside of my ears which wasn’t pleasant. Yet the more I’ve worn them when comparing they are starting to feel okay. With exercise, they do not fall out of my ears personally and going on runs they are fine. Something I may do is buy the memory foam tips instead of the silicone as I believe this may help. The AirPod 4s sound is really good and probably may not hurt my ears as much however the Pro 2s sound and overall performance wins for me. As well as this, I can’t get out of my head how ugly the AirPod 4s look in your ear and remind me of some fake kind of AirPods which really puts me off them. I even compared the AirPod 4s with my mums AirPod 2nd gen’s and the sound again, isn’t a massive change.
Since Apple was iPods just received consideration for an over-the-counter hearing aid, I wonder if they’re going to be upgrading and making a version for pro with the new hearing aid feature. Have you heard anything?
AirPods 4 with ANC are great just got them the other day. They stay well in the air cause the new design love the case is lot smaller for sure and not bad price for airpods if don't want spend for the pros. and the conversation awarness is nice touch on the airpods 4 anc. side note never used airpods before lol😄

It honestly just depends. It’s similar to upgrading from an iPhone 14 to an iPhone 16 due to the type c charging. It will sound better too, but if you wanna wait for the 3s, that’s not a bad choice👍
