This is an amazing arrangement. Absolutely beautiful and so true to the original Rameau. I'm quite sure he would dance the gavotte to this with great joy. I LOVE THIS!!! I've known this piece for years, and have spent many an enjoyable (amateur) time playing through it on piano. I have savored many impression harpsichord renditions in recording. I listen to this at first just on impulse, because I was curious (and a little incredulous at the sight of the ensemble). Within 2 measures I was rapt! I have to say that I may not care much for the arrangement, but I am blown away by the skill, subtlety and beauty of the execution by all the players, making a potentiallly doubtful venture into extremely engaging art!

Five very engaged musicians at work. Bravo!!! This is just one reason top orchestras look to this wonderful music school for the finest players in the country. Beautiful rhythmic control, balance, intonation, sound, ensemble.... I only wish they had played that 5th variation a lot faster. But, alas, the solo is assigned to the oboe and it's really tough.
