liam pitts try the ring dips. I used to do 15 dips with 25 lbs on me. I switched to rings and can only do 8 on a good day with just bodyweight. It challenges your body more and creates a stronger, healthier physique.
I saw this video about one month too late. Adam's advice is spot on. Be controlled and don't go any further than you need to get a good stretch. Notwithstanding that I've been doing dips for a couple of years, I managed to go too far about a month ago and tore my rotator cuff. Surgery next week - ugh!
I wasn't sure about the elbows and chest targeting, but this clear it up! I normally keep my feet straight so that I can hold a dumbell, might be time to invest in a weight belt so I can get that forward lean
Lovely. Thank you so much!! I love how you talk about depth and range of motion. So many people are obsessed with full depth and ignore what is good for their body.
I cant wait to try this, my lower chest is so neglected and flabby and its always pissed me off that there arent many exercises I can do to really work that lower head, thanks for the tips 🙂
Dips are #1 exercise for chest. Forget about bench press, pushups, barbell press, DIPS is the answer if your chest gains are slow. If you can do them on rings even better, forget the gym. Less is more, and always simplify your workouts. You don't want to isolate any muscle since the body is meant to work in harmony, all muscles contracted and working together. Try this, if it doesn't work then find what works for YOU not for anybody else. KEEP GOING PEOPLE KEEP GRINDING, ALWAYS DO SOMETHING EVERYDAY, BREAK A SWEAT.
Another great video! I never paid much attention to my feet when doing dips. I’ll make sure to have them placed correctly depending on what I want to focus on. Looking forward to more of these type of series 👌
Are legs straight down or in front fine as long as you maintain the forward bend all throughout the reps? I tend to swivel and have trouble staying still with legs behind.
Hey Adam. Love your vids man. Can you please tell me if it's advisable to do dips at start of chest workout or at the end? And should emphasis be on medium to high rep sets? Thanks
You shouldn't feel much soreness in your triceps if you're performing chest dips correctly. Once on the dip bar, pull your shoulders back, kick your feet back, lean forward and look down. Doing that should put emphasis on your chest. And just like in the video, you don't need to go too low because you can put too much pressure on your shoulders.
It might not be for you but if you can maintain strict form and force that rep to failure , you will get some growth. I rotate dips into my chest routine every other chest day.
Alright, so when I lean forward, I like to go as far as possible, as much as 35-45 degrees. Is this overkill? In my head the more I lean forward, the more I simulate a pushup, so that's where I am .
FelixBinderMusic locking out is completely ok if you know how to keep tension in the muscle . Locking out is only bad when you relax the muscle working and rest your weight on the joint .
I am 52 years old now and don't lift free weights anymore I actually use a total gym now and use the dip bar excessories and even though it doesn't allow me to kick my legs back I still feel it good in the chest by propping a pillow under my upper back to get the leaning forward effect and it works great and doing the reps slowly under control and keeping the elbow locked close to your sides and not going down to far has worked well and yielding results
I will tell you this, if you’re not careful dips can fuck you up and take you out. This really is an advanced exercise and you need to control your body weight and be careful how low you go. I’ve seen people rip pec muscles and tear shoulder cartledge by hopping all Willy Billy on a dip bar without ever having done them. Ease into it, and if you’re a novice use a band or some other assisted device until you get the hang of it (no pun intended)
Dips are amazing and my number 1 exercise for chest, I've seen crazy results from doing them. I use a weight belt now as I've advanced forward 💪😎

The elbow allignment made me sub immediately. Thanks mate!
Thanks, the last tip about stopping when you feel the stretch instead of at range of motion will do wonders for my shoulders.

Yessir! Compound exercises all day.
"There is no right way or wrong way to do a dip?" 🤔 Tips on ROM vs stretch and demo about tempo are helpful thank you.

Should the standard 3x10 set to rep work on these? Or should I be doing more?

How many reps and sets for beginner?
Good point!!Join the good show!!!(MR. pop voice)
What would help with wrist pain? When I do dips, I get stress on my wrist.
Wrist straps
Great video - can we have one for clean and jerk, snatch and any olympic lifts please
Stay tuned!
The link for the workout guide doesn’t work
Can you substitute a decline bench press for dips?
Yup even instead of bench when weighted
What about dips with your legs forward
Elbows flared wont it create more tension and pain on the shoulders?
Not necessarily.
Hey Adam. Love your vids man. Can you please tell me if it's advisable to do dips at start of chest workout or at the end? And should emphasis be on medium to high rep sets? Thanks
Always high reps in calisthenics, my guy
Forget the golden 12 reps, unless u put on additional weight
Since it's been 2 years, I'm curious to what you've come to learn, assuming u still train, lol
I thought flaring elbows out was not correct for dips but admittedly I do the same
tought you said dont lock your joints.. the last part of the vid. you major lock out your joints...
I'v done a million Dips. BBQ, Sour Cream and Chive, Low Salt, Sea Salt, Low Fat, Extra Salt.
The best dips 🤩😋
I did it and my triceps feel weak the next day. Is that normal?
Yes, your muscles are tired from the exercise, pretty common when you are just starting out or returning to the gym after some time off.

jeff the dad listen to the episode.
Thank you for these informations
Hell yeah
Must be cold in the mind pump studio 😂😂😂
Cool I didn't know that could be done with dips
How about banded? for those who need assistance first

I can only dip from my chair, pressing on the armrests
Is that a gyno my friend?
just shape of nipples, have the same...
500th like is mine 😉
Did you get a pump just for this video? Lmao
Michael Tucker not at all . Only Sal needs to do that 😂
2:19 don‘t lock out the joints!
3:44 locks out completely🤦🏼♂️
FelixBinderMusic locking out is completely ok if you know how to keep tension in the muscle . Locking out is only bad when you relax the muscle working and rest your weight on the joint .
Mind Pump TV thanks for making that clear to your audience ;)

My favorite touter loveslovesloves
