I'm 59 and skinny, any advice for older people. I'm trying to put muscle everywhere, but my chest, and arms need the most work. I've watched lots of your videos on this, but hoping you have specific advice to help me out. I'm already working hard, and have no problem with that. I do have pain in my lower Back, and right shoulder, but I can push through the pain. Thanks

Your chest contracts as one. There is no real upper and lower chest. Sure you can try to target the lower fibers but you won't get significant growth in that area over the rest. Look at some of the best bodybuilders in the world, most of them with great chests don't try to target their lower chest. Even though they may look great. Your chest contracts as one and builds as one.

@@Flexb123 ehhhhh , your "best body builders" uses roids to help their muscle growth. For people who are natural, its hard for them to have defined muscles if they dont target a specific muscle. Yeah sure you cant totally isolate a muscle because thats common sense but you can increase the intensity though.

Me being a science major, I can only watch your videos on fitness. Bringing in anatomy and the in depth explanations of muscle contractions along with how you say it while showing us the exercise is extremely relatable. I can’t watch other youtubers or content creators because they don’t explain what you’re hitting, mainly because they don’t know themselves, but they know what exercises hit what muscle group and to me, personally, that’s not enough to help me. Like yes I can follow their workouts and exercises and probably do fine and find myself slowly improving but with the energy you put out, and the informative guides and videos helps me further than anybody else. Thanks man and keep it up

Jeff's advice has led to the most effective exercises I have ever done (and most excruciating) but results speak for themselves, I do calisthenics and bodyweight exercises mostly, but I have found these extra tips of his for these types of exercises to be far more effective and satisfying to me personally than any painful amounts of time I have ever spent in a gym, and no special supplements needed either, my muscles just grow because of how hard I push them.

@@jasonscott9653 You should look into fasting. It's essentially a way to dip into the bodies natural fat using energy mode. If you find portion sizes increasing or resisting an urge to eat more you'll also find it reduces ghrelin which is the hunger hormone. Working out increases it - this is why most of the time you see someone trying to lose weight by dieting and intense working out alone end up relapsing to their old state and giving in, It's mostly chemical reactions and stuff that are possible to willpower through a few times but each time you do that use up dopamine resources and such so eventually you will deplete and not be able to resist without seriously affecting mood and such. in-fact on those shows that follow people doing just this most have a 100% failure rate. Fasting has an almost 100% success rate. You'll want to start easy and do a lot of research before diving in if you do, there are pro's and con's and things to look out for safety wise. It also helps with muscle gain due to growth hormone and BDNF spike and such so if combined with what you're doing already you'll have a great time.

Real talk, I have incorporated a lot of the suggestions from these videos into my workout routines. And they have all worked so far. I have even changed up my rep routine--don't count the reps, make the reps count. Because of that, I have a better understanding of working out until failure. My last weight training day for the week was this past Thursday. I did every exercise machine/non-machine alike until I could no longer do them properly. It felt good, better contractions, improved form, made working out fun.

Jeff your videos have helped me so much ... I first started watching the videos about lower back pain .I have been hocked ever since .
I had a accident at work 3 years ago and have a prolapsed Disc as the result .
Your advice and motivation pushed me to take 3 massive steps
1.get private medical help from a Chriopractor.
2.follow your videos and use exercises that help build and strengthen my lower back .
    3 .have a better diet .
    I started this 10th April 2022 ,I weighed 235 lbs 6ft 1 and 55 years old .
With your help iam now 219lbs ,I can cycle I can now run i do not have the pain I had
I look a lot better and I feel more confident.
To say a simple thank you does not give you the praise I think you deserve .

Thank you for making this video. I am 51 and have issues with my rotator cuffs. I've torn both 4 times each and have limited strength in my shoulders. I am in excellent physical shape because of my training with light weights. The only loose skin/body fat that has been an issue for me is in this targeted area. Other than that, I am at 17% body fat.
The exercises you show are going to be a great help to me. I am positive I'll be able to do 3 of them without issue with my shoulders.

I’m carbon copy of you by sounds of it, same age, same problems with shoulders , and even similar body fat%. Bought some dip bars and Been doing dips for a couple of months now and if you dont go to low and keep the elbows tucked in you’ll get a good workout, without to much strain. I’ve stopped doing shoulder workouts as i find you just dont need them, and keeps issues with training the chest a lot lower. Also had to learn to be more patient, real hard when the brain still thinks your 31😊

99% of the population has a bulging or extruding disk? Really, man? Where did you see that?
And even if that were the case, just because 99% of the population has it, it means it's serious? Makes no sense.
Anyway, scoliosis is complicated, but that's just my opinion. I might be wrong. Feel free to tell people to look up the cure on RUclips.

    • @stopthrm
      @stopthrm 6 лет назад

LOL. My understanding is that athleanx is all about helping the viewer do the exercises and get past some of the problems that you might have that inhibit you from doing so. I would imagine that scoliosis could be addressed as well in another video. Unless something has changed or you're in a lot of pain, I wouldn't go straight to a physiotherapist. I can only imagine what they would charge you just for a consultation.

    Just hope you read this!!!
Man you're awesome and the best ever. Before when I still didn't come across your channel, all I did was think and postpone my workouts. I had a fractured wrist, and it was and still is difficult for me to do pushups but I still didn't give up. Well after watching your videos, I feel so much more motivated and I have the urge of working out. It's something I don't wanna miss. You've simplified many things and that's the best part for ppl who are just getting started. Well thanks a ton for your motivation and once again you're the best😎

I get so motivated watching him. I wish my physical condition would allow me to do more but I’ll get there.
