@@reformer6666 In most cases adding new members to an established group messes up the chemistry. But in Johnny's case, his addition was a big reason New Editon was able to move from their teen bubblegum image to the adult market. His relationship with NE go back to the days of their first album. They knew his strengths well.
No matter how much drama this group goes through, you can always come back to this video and see what amazing chemistry these guys have. And I love how everyone got to showcase their individual talents in singing, dancing, rapping. It was such an exciting time in 90s to see these talents come together during a new age of music different from the one they had come from. Such a big deal in 1991 to catch this on MTV...
The way Bobby performed on You Dont Have To Worry Remix on New Edtion Home Again album showed he could've definitely transitioned his solo career into the mid-late 90s if he stayed focused on his music.
Jimmy Two-Times The golden age of hip hop was from the mid/late 80's to the mid/late 90's. It started with Run DMC and ended in 98 with Tribe's "The Love Movement". Biggie, Pac, EPMD, Tribe, De La, Black Moon, Wu Tang, etc. were all in the prime of the golden age. However, I wouldn't classify 50 cent as being part of the golden age. The golden age personifies what "true hip hop" is. 50 came out when shit started getting way too commercial. I'm not knocking him for it but it's true. Both the rhymes and beats were completely different than the shit you hear starting in the 2000's. That's not really even debatable. The quality of hip hop took a step down when producers wanted to make music for the masses with catchy beats and hooks. Can't blame them for wanting to make money, but the "golden age" died when that happened.
Jimmy Two-Times I guess we can both agree that hip hop today has changed considerably from the 90's and in your case, early 2000's and it's definitely not for the better.
The Grand Master was just thinking that. A Bobby/Ralph duet album (these days a mixtape) woulda been dope for the culture. good singers, good rap flows and vocals...but their chemistry was always off the charts.
This group probably has the best on screen chemistry ever. People always commenting about who was right or wrong for doing whatever they saw in the movie, but look at these guys. They having a good ass time like brothers. @3:58 Mike catches Ralph as Ralph pretends to faint. Look at Ricky, Bobby, Mike, & Ron @4:34 doing that caterpillar dance. And do you think Johnny cares that he can't dance very well? He having the time of his life with his bros. And to top it off, they're ALL getting a chance to sing/rap. You never see them having this much fun in videos when they're apart. #NE4life
Yep, that's true family right there. No matter where their careers took them they always returned to the NE base. They're a lot of groups who broke up and never want to be around each other again. New Edition has a true brotherhood though that's special. Salute.
Yeah if you look at some live performances of BBD circa 90-91 they definitely did that first along with heap of custom hats (new with tags) and sick art pieces, mixing pairs of shoes as well or different colourways on each foot of the same model shoe. They deserve more credit for their fashion influence at the time
People don't understand when Bobby comes back to the group we get happy and smile. Maybe because deep down inside we all know New Edition is actually COMPLETE now. New Edition with Bobby is the Real New Edition.
When Johnny asked in 1988 Ricky if he would ever be removed from New Edition once Bobby rejoined NE, Ricky replied "Hell No!Your N.E. for Life Man!You're our brother. And Bobby is still our Brother. We'll always be brothers". In 1990, Ralph said that "When it's 5 of us, We're Strong. When its all 6 of us, We're Invincible!"
New Edition changed the game. Singing, Rapping and Dancing equally well......there will never be another Bobby, Ronnie, Rickey, Mike, Ralph and Johnny.

In my opinion, this song/video is the TRUE New Edition reunion. They linked back up, collaborated, and went back to their hometown, Boston, where it all began. Johnny's falsetto riff at the beginning, Ronnie's rap at 2:24, Bobby's high range at 3:00, and Ralph's heartwarming riff at 3:50! Boy this video is New Edition Heaven!

+Rob Mac Likely, this classic song/video wasn't included because it's a true mashup of all of their individual styles with no defined choreography. In other words, it's hard to recapture the overall personal "just hanging"chaotic vibe that defined the video.
Rob Mac It was, especially with the direction music was going at the time. But club bangers don't always get major radio play. I was looking for it too cause the guys have enough chemistry to pull it off.
It honestly didn't fit the storyline. It wouldn't have helped highlight the tension and friction that forced everyone to break apart. If there had been some sort of behind the scenes scrap during the shooting of this then this probably makes the movie.
I would pay ANYTHING to see them all perform this one on stage again. Its the song that showcases their individual voices and styles perfectly. This is a New Edition showcase wrapped up in one video: Ronnie's raps, Mike's Boston street flavor, Ralph's lead lines, Bobby's strong "King of Stage" sound, Ricky's suave flow, and Johnny bringing that soul from the bottom up to the top. Brilliant!
2:23 "Its Poison, Dont Be Cruel, Its My Prerogative, to Do What I Gotta Do, have a little Sensitivity. Do Me Baby, I wanna give but The Right Way, so whatcha gotta say. Oh no she's a Candy Girl, living in a half crazy world, that's the Way I'm Living girl. Now Every Little Step I take is another N.E. Heartbreak, My My My"
Hell Ralph and Bob should've added another branch to the NE tree and called themselves R & B with vocal as well as rap tracks as individuals as well as a duo.....would've been EPIC for the culture and expedentionally beneficial financially!
The fact that Free from 106 and Park is in this video tonguing down Mike gets me everytime😩😂.. Every time this video would come on Video Soul I would stop everything to watch it😍 #Classic
Yooooooo! All these years Ive watched dis vid,,,,,EVEN when it first came out,,,,,and I NEVER knew,, dat was FREE gettin tongued down by Mike! I thought she was just some chick from their projects he knew,,,, and put her in dat scene! Woooooowwwww! I learned today! I learned who da fluck Free is today!
It was kool for them to shoot this video back in their old hood orchard Park before it was demolished years. Everybody except for Johnny grew up there cus he's from DC!
The artist of this song is Bell Biv DeVoe(Feat. Ralph Tresvant, Bobby Brown, and Johnny Gill) but it shoulda been New Edition. The first song with all 6 together.
New Edition will always be the Temptations of Generation X,,,,it is cool that they all squahed internal beef for the group...these dudes been in the game since they were 13 and 14 years old....I used to think they were Right On and Black Beat cover boys,,,,but their back story is real...Bobby saw his best friend stabbed to death, in a gang fight at the age of 12,,..they are from the Roxbury neighborhood and Orchard Park Housing Projects...except for Johnny Gill who grew in the Southeast area of Washington DC with his childhood friend Staci Lattisaw...who helped him get a record deal...Micheal Bivins is my favorite member...his wardrobe is sick....from the hats and glasses to shoes and boots....he was always fresh dressed like a million bucks....I never understood why he never released a solo rap album....he is friends with everybody from Rakim to Raekwon The Chef!
J Gill grew up performing during the Washington DC Rayful Alpo era too..Im sure he has some stories he could tell about things he saw lol...Mike Bivens was pretty darn fresh , along with Ronnie-they were my fav dressers out of the group..but my fav of all of them was always Ralph for some reason I thought he was too smooth Mike Biv was like Puffy with bad boy waaayy before Puffy had a label too #BIV10
the kid at beginning goes down the scale on the piano while the music goes up the scale lol..everybody else dressed hip; Johnny dressed like your uncle thats been head deacon at his church for the last 20 yrs lol
Well considering Bobby started New Edition with Ricky & Mike it makes sense. Ricky brought Ralph, Brooke brought Ronnie & Mike brought Johnny. Full circle.
I think it is so cool that they decided to let Johnny Gill be featured in the song because yes it has to do with New Edition but it’s more about the origins which is where it takes place in Roxbury, Boston MA which is where Bobby, Ronnie, Ricky, Michael, and Ralph are all from and where they started the original NE. Whereas Johnny Gill was born in Washington D.C. and to put him in the song even though it’s really about the five of them shows their sense of brotherhood and that regardless of where their from once a NE brother, always an NE brother
I was born when this drop & now 25 years later the new jack swing & golden era of hip hop is all I listen to. Let's not even get on the fashion from this era cause it flow all together. Even the dances were energetic that's why everyone was so fit cause they worked it off by dancing lol. I can't wait to throw my 25th birthday this December. Along with my art I want to have this era vibe at my party.
It was such a fun time! Even though wildness was happening in the streets, brothers & sisters were dancin' hard, sweatin,' smilin', and lovin' on each other. We're all still trying to relive it. Lol!
Through all their beef...they always understood their image to the public and came together to support each other and keep the image of NEW EDITION going. Groups don't do this anymore.
While this is clearly a BBD record, its also my fave record that features the entire NE family. Its probably the most cohesive record NE has ever participated in; I mean, every member plays an important role whether it be singing or rapping. Great video too. Well done.
I know they fought and argued. Because BROTHERS fight and argue sometimes. But you can Tell in this video that they REALLY loved each other man. And you can also tell there was NO jealousy from their separate success. I think they had creative differences and they clashed about ideas and things of that nature and who should do what but as far as JEALOUSY? Nah. You can tell they were all Genuinely happy for each other. Because they realized that each of them were just a Branch connected to the New Edition Tree. So One's Success was ALL There success. And they were proud of each other's accomplishments. You could tell When Ronnie rapped that Verse incorporating ALL of the titles of their HIT songs into it. 💯
I could be wrong, but I don't know if there's another group that had it's members who individually had hits like NE members did. I could be wrong, but personally I don't see any other group.
Man it's so many dynamics in this video! Bobby & BBD could have made a dope group. Ralph is the most happy here, because the whole group got parts. Seeing Johnny & Bobby on the same song was so huge! This is one of New Edition best videos and the first one Bobby was in since My Secret.

Rob Mac They only touched on their biggest hits. This one kind of flew under the radar unless you were a big fan.
ittybitty5609 This was jam. Played all the time in club.
Gear was fresher back then
You DAYUM right!!!!!!!! ;))))
All six of these guys together is what i call a team of brothers having love for each other
Everybody just being wild and having wild fun in the video
A real family
Geeez Nuutz93 lllllllllllllllll
Bobby and that SIGNATURE WAIST TWIST MOVE EPIC
I like how this is a B.B.D song but the whole new edition crew is in this
I would pay ANYTHING to see them all perform this one on stage again. Brilliant!
It’s on THE WAY🔥🔥
@Keisha GB March 6,2022 Little Ceasars Arena Detroit Michigan 🙌🏾
@@rockyayce6485 Thx!
@@keishagbwrites your welcome yes did you go yesterday 🤣🙌🏾
@@rockyayce6485 I SAW NEW EDITION! :-)
You can tell they genuinely love each other.
All 6 members. Fantastic.
The happiest moment of my life was when all six of them singing together!!
Oh c'mon that was not the happiest moment of your life.
(I know this was a exaggeration so don't attack me)
2:23 "Its Poison, Dont Be Cruel, Its My Prerogative, to Do What I Gotta Do, have a little Sensitivity. Do Me Baby, I wanna give but The Right Way, so whatcha gotta say. Oh no she's a Candy Girl, living in a half crazy world, that's the Way I'm Living girl. Now Every Little Step I take is another N.E. Heartbreak, My My My"
Awesome verse. Half Crazy be in JG album from 1985.
Bob and Ralph killed ThaT parT!!! Classic The besT r and b group of all Time NE!!!
I learned who da fluck Free is today!
good call
All of the years I’ve been watching this video...and I never noticed that lol good looks
TheRealTrene wait that was free I still can't believe I didn't pay attention
TheRealTrene #Free-dom
Why did johnny gill murda the beginning, then the dope bassline comes in. boy I miss the 90's!
I agree Hey dosent Mace sound like Mike?
+Uriah Smith omg lol
J Gill grew up performing during the Washington DC Rayful Alpo era too..Im sure he has some stories he could tell about things he saw lol...Mike Bivens was pretty darn fresh , along with Ronnie-they were my fav dressers out of the group..but my fav of all of them was always Ralph for some reason I thought he was too smooth Mike Biv was like Puffy with bad boy waaayy before Puffy had a label too #BIV10
+Luther© Johnny Gill was also manged by a Harlem OG Bill Underwood and the movie in to deep was based on events that went on in Orchard Park pj's them NE boys got deeper street connections then most of these so called gangsta rappers
BigDapPacino I
the kid at beginning goes down the scale on the piano while the music goes up the scale lol..everybody else dressed hip; Johnny dressed like your uncle thats been head deacon at his church for the last 20 yrs lol
HAHAHA HAHA!
he two and three years older than everyone else in the group
+King Z Yup.
I thought I was the only one who noticed the piano part lol.
jokes and jokes,lol.
Ever notice how tight Bobby was with BBD and Ralph? In the stone cold gentlemen song with Ralph, and Thought it was me with BBD
Word. its like Bobby knew it was his own doing that got himself removed from N.E. and just never held it against them guys. That's what up 👍
those are his boys they were best friends before they started this music thing

Something about 90s R&B that you cannot replicate.
True!
Along with my art I want to have this era vibe at my party.
aye make sure I get an invite yeah? Lol
I applaud your efforts, have a blast!
FreshArt23 invite daddy here, I was 15 at the time......91
It was such a fun time! Even though wildness was happening in the streets, brothers & sisters were dancin' hard, sweatin,' smilin', and lovin' on each other. We're all still trying to relive it. Lol!
I was born 2001(I'm 15) and I listen to 90s nd 80s music all the time. I wish I was born back then
This music is dope bruh. Wish I lived in this era!
I was there in my prime It's was a hell of an Era... !!!! Believe me my friend.
the clothes, the tunes, you would have loved it..it was diversity
+Tommy Robertson Yes sir....PREACH!!!
+Tommy Robertson The music, the clothes, just the whole vibe then.....
Iam glad you appreciate the pure soul & heart that was in the 90's. The last great decade...
Through all their beef...they always understood their image to the public and came together to support each other and keep the image of NEW EDITION going. Groups don't do this anymore.
That "say what" at 2:36 ...PERFECTION
Glad they all touring again..Get Along and Get the Bag❤❤❤❤❤❤
Rons verse was genius
Ronnie DeVoe with the bars!
While this is clearly a BBD record, its also my fave record that features the entire NE family. Its probably the most cohesive record NE has ever participated in; I mean, every member plays an important role whether it be singing or rapping. Great video too. Well done.
Brook was even in one scene.
Nunu Bel biv Devoe Smashed gangsters music living colour happy CASHES Shine DIMD.22k
Yep, and this was the better remake off the original song on the Poison album.
maybe the greatest reunion song of all time
Despite their ups and downs they got a brotherhood that cant be broken
I loved how they combined all their songs together to make a rap!!! :)
Rizz and B Brown has a lot of respect for each other they killed them bars in their rap verses gave that song a whole new twist wow!
#LivingLegends
@@7ETRNL , you're right, there is no other group
New edition still got it going on
2:06 "yo Rick Come Easy"
Love Rick's voice.
This would of been cool if this was added in the New Edition Movie, when they all came together and made a song.
Mickey Mouse yea. At least the ending credits bonus footage
All I see is brothers having fun together for a good cause as a real family!!! Amazing song
New Edition doing they thang. Love these fly brothers still! Over 30 years in the business and they still got mad skills and all the swag.
The love they still have for each other is a beautiful thing.
Classic but underrated song!❤🙂 NE is an iconic super group!🫡💐
Man it's so many dynamics in this video! Bobby & BBD could have made a dope group. Ralph is the most happy here, because the whole group got parts. Seeing Johnny & Bobby on the same song was so huge! This is one of New Edition best videos and the first one Bobby was in since My Secret.
Rizz is a damn trip, Mr. Smooth ballad man, mean muggin on his verse. lol
