Feel your pain mate 48years on the spanner’s and counting been where you are countless times wanting to pack it all in. Like you say poor pay bloody Fortune in tools no appreciation it’s a skill in itself working on rusty neglected piles of Shite and most customers think it’s just a few nuts n bolts that wiz off with a impact gun Grrrr.
As a diy’ey since 88 i don’t know how do it, i only do basic jobs and less so now id rather pay someone. Had to do an alternator over Xmas, only cause needed car and no one could fit me in. What an utter pita it was cold wet then neighbours saying ‘what you doing’ jees I just wanted to drive the sodding thing into a canal throw the tools and tell everyone to F off.
i absolutely love listening to him swear using every word i have said over and over to a car it makes me feel like a normal guy LOL :)
Yeah yr right..he sez what I think when it's a chew😂
We all know how you feel mate. I've learned after many years of swearing when jobs go wrong, is to walk away have a cup of tea, then go back it. 9 times out of 10 you'll crack it straight away after a break. I sometimes will sleep a diagnostic problem with the answer in my head in the morning. 😂
My missus will often come out on the drive when I'm doing the car asking "what's a matter? why are you swearing?" 😂😂
& what thanks do we get…. 😂😂😂🤦♂️😂
put the cable on before you put the caliper on and release the handbrake, made that alot harder than it needed to be.
never had an issue doing it that way. just caused yourself alot of pain pal.
When I get stuck with a job not going right like that cable just walk away and go back to it in 10 minutes and 9/10 times it goes right.
😂😂😂😂 you sound like me when i fix cars, its the most frustrating piss ye off jobs and rewarding the same time! Love your videos matey
For a minute there I thought you'd broke the rigid to Flexi union lol!! Good tip about the drill bits tho mate!
No brake cleaner at 9 : 05 So no thumbs up
Great vid, those facom ratchets are something else. Thanks for the tips for getting the handbrake cable free I always struggled
I feel your pain with the special tools. Keep em coming Leon. Love your work.
Just had a deja vu with a few instances from the past...high emotional impact!!!😅
Didn't know you swore.. 😂😂😂 Pretty accurate representation though 😅👌👍
Great vid! You are exactly like me when i am working on cars! 😆
We need a bigger swear box 😂😂😂
😆😆I love your vids, its just so real
Made my day 👍Lion. What are people on about a air gap do they mean if you fit the cable before hanging the calip the piston could of adjusted itself out to much and need resetting. If I struggle getting the cable off the old one I'll wire the new lever back and reset the piston before I start fit it snip it boom job done
Leon, I feel your pain. I have to do all my spannering at the roadside. While it is good practaice to change both calipers it is not strictly necessary. I changed just the left rear caliper on my Volvo XC90 and the rear brakes are still fine to this day. I don't bother greasing the back of pads either (that's what the aint-squeal shims are for).
It might not help you but when us non professionals struggle we question ourselves or our tools, so when you see a professional slipping and struggling it just means that some jobs are a right pain compared to other repairs. Glad you got it sorted in the end though.
I'm crying with laughter🤣 - been there sooo many times
I do feel for you Leon, the older the car the worse things get, and you sound like me when things go tits !
Ha ha we all been there with them barstad jobs my neighbours prob think I got anger issues.Good that you keep the swearing in videos makes us feel your pain .Good video keep em coming.
Best video seen in years mate. Love this to go viral. You have the same growl as me & swearing 🤬… brilliant 👍
Thanks for posting 👌😂
Love the videos Leon the good the bad and the ugly. Long time follower 😊
Hello, mate! Just one question. I have just bought a 2011 mitsubishi asx, 1.8 diesel, 150 hp. To do the timing chain, do I need to remove the camshaft and cam sprocket from the engine? I have a drawing on my computer with the timing chain on that car and this is what I can understand from it. Thank you!
Hi , enjoyed watching this, did you put a new banjo crush washer on the Caliper
Cheers
Whenever I’ve fitted rear calipers, I just use a 13mm spanner on the handbrake arm nut and it moves easily.
Much easier than struggling trying to wedge it up and damaging the handbrake arm stop.
Bad day? I think we’ve all had days like this. Great sense of achievement when it’s sorted though
better you than me on the side of the road WOW! and is that a new tattoo , thanks for the video
You had me joining in shouting "come on to fu** " at the video lol I had stupid little things like that its simple, you know what to do, you can see how it should all happen... and nope x100 lol Then I guarantee you will do it one day and it will jump in itself as if by magic lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Glad to see you're no longer greasing the back of the pads. You save money by not wasting it there. I used to be in that band camp of grease on pads. Then when I tried without, there were no issues. I stick to quality brake pads and shoes. They cost more, but the job is done right first time every time.
Fair play to you for putting the real world on RUclips. It would of been great if the customer haggled with you about price the mood you were in 🤬 😂
Just fking lov it when this man cracks up 😂fking lov it he's so fking funny 😆
Yir best video to date 👍 I get you 100%
The bit where you came back all chilled…
Did you go for a smoke and a brew
I use visa grips and put them on the lever push up and slide cable in
I use a pair ofpoint nose mole grips clamped along the the brake lever for taking cable off and putting on. You have control ans need only 1 operation ofthe park brake
Ahh, theres nothing like the " patina" you get on the underside of an Irish car ! all suitably enhanced by the obligatory knackered sill by the ( actual ) jacking point.
It was worth all the swearing, pumping and feeling hard for those four "money shots".
Jesus christ good job you don't have a swear box,you would be fucked oops 😂😅
I’m the same fixing/messing with me car curse the living daylights out of it then go to work as a hgv fitter
swears more than gordon ramsey ha ha
Did you not have to bleed the whole system
sounds like me im always effing n jeffing cars we love them really
Was the piston seized in the caliper too or was it just the two pins that slide in the carrier that was seized? Or was the caliper leaking? Bastard of a job
Nothing wrong with caliper. Pin seized and pads jammed is enough to cause that unevenness.
Daddy chill…
Lol dude you need a holiday mate, somewhere sunny..
I would love to get a mechanic job trained 3 years In college couldn’t get a apprenticeship so I am buggered.
You need m10 bolt holding the disc because fords rust like shit. And if it was any smaller or thinner then it will rust itself on. The bigger the better easily opens without messing it up or snapping it off.
you doing everything the wrong way ,I dont think you are a mechanic ,,,you get to annoyed so easy ,,have the right tools and no need to swear
A total bodgit.....slide pin holes can be cleaned by filling with petrol/kerosene/diesel and pumping with the pin....refresh, refill until clear.....then re-grease clean components.....not too time consuming.
Seized caliper piston....cheap kit and patience to return to safe service in most cases.
When you have little experience and knowledge....fit new bits every time....the bullshit solution
The bullshit solution garages don’t have time to wait on calliper rebuild kits
nice amount of swearing. not as much as mine. 3 hrs to replace a headlight and try straightening bumper bonnet and wing. after a motorbike hit it
Hi love the video but have to stop watching the pictures that keep flashing up are affecting my grandsons epilepsy , shame we both like watching
