I'm hoping you can help me with the problem I'm having with my bounding box. I get the bounding box but I don't get the blue knobs in the middle to curve the corners.

There are a few possible issues. Sometimes the corners can't be rounded (if the path has handles/curves). But to test it, just draw a regular rectangle, and see if they show up. If they don't, hit A (direct selection tool). What version of Illustrator do you have?
