OMG 😲 this is amazing! I've been adding the numbers manually for years. Thanks so much for sharing this. 😊
You're welcome...and thank you so much!!
WOW!!!!! 🤓 Thanks Anne, I learned SO much, and this will save me a TON of time moving forward!
You're welcome! I'm so glad it was helpful!

Thank you for this tutorial! I was curious if this process works only for a column graph? I’m trying to do this using a bar graph (where the columns are horizontal) and it doesn’t seem to be working. Wasn’t sure if it was just me (I’m very new) or if it doesn’t apply to that type of graph. Thanks in advance!
Hmm, I'm not sure in that case, but you could do it as a vertical one, then rotate it (you'll have to rotate the numbers too).
I’ll give it a try! Thanks so much!
You're welcome!!
Hi! Thank you so much, this is amazing. Is there a way to write decimal numbers?
You're welcome - and yes! Instead of %00, if you want, say, 3 digits and 2 decimals, you would type %32
Thank you all. It worked!
Awesome!! I'm so happy to hear that!
I appreciate your RUclips channel, although I'm finding with Illustrator you cannot make complicated charts. I spent an hour or so trying to figure it out and had to use an outside plugin.
Thank you! Yes, I would agree that Illustrator needs a little extra help for things like that. 🙂
Hello, Thank you so much for wonderful video, i have one question, how can we add decimal value like 00.0%? actually i tried same way but its not work out.
Instead of adding %00 like in the video, put %01 - that should add one decimal place. Or %02 will add two.
This is so SO helpful, thank you! Is there a way for the data labels to include the % symbol? For example, if I'd like the label to read 83%. Thank you!
You can add a suffix in "Value Labels" - here's an article I found that explains it (but I haven't tested this method): graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/62464/how-to-use-percents-in-illustrator-graph-tool
@@GDHT That's so helpful, thank you! I will look into this!
You're welcome!!
Gosh darn it! I literally made a video and created these friggin graphs manually..
Can I send this to AE and rig it?
Oh no, what a pain! I've been there before too. About AE, I'm not 100% sure what you're wanting to do, but I have a 'how to get your file ready for AE' video: ruclips.net/video/Iczi4tKk_h0/видео.html
Thanks a lot for this tip! But now I have another question: it is possible to add decimal values on these labels? :0
It looks like it's possible, but you would need a script: community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/script-to-add-a-percent-symbol-to-all-numbers/m-p/12559537#M300593
Hi again! So, I've watched the Monica Gause tutorial and found that adding a number before the first zero (%01/%02) will add a comma and decimal numbers before it (4,5/4,52).
Do you know if its possible to make this work properly with line graphs? Every time I try to replace the dots and label styles, they're in a smaller size.
Oh ok! I should probably go back and watch hers again. :P I'm not sure about line graphs - I've always struggled with them myself - Sorry!!
I got a lot of values from this. Sadly I still can't get my number on top the bar quite right. I followed the instruction but still my bars are below the correct line and the text values are squeezed according to the bar height.
edit: I forgot to change the column type to sliding. But the bars are still below the line
Hmmm, I tested it, and it's working for me. I'm not sure why that's happening.
Same here. Tried testing with multiple things, Guide locked or unlocked, column set to sliding, every change saving as a new Graph design but still no luck.
do you know why when you apply it the bar disappear from the canva? And why the number are get heavily distorted?
Hmm, no I haven’t run into that before. Are you following the same steps exactly?
@@GDHTI have the same problem now.. did the same steps as you 😥
Hi anne you have shown a good technique but plz tell me how to add decimal, like with %00 its showing only numbers, i want decimals also
Thank you! It looks like a script might be necessary for that: community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/quick-solution-to-add-decimal-to-whole-number-in-chart-label/m-p/12529059
The digits after the % dictate the number of digits before and after the decimal. For example, if you want to show 123.45 you would type %32 (3 digits before the decimal, 2 after). Or if you want to show 9.87 you would type %12. Hope that helps!
@@loganlivers7253 wow, thank you! This is great to know!!
I didnt get that make is simple to understant! thank u!!!@@loganlivers7253
I have a stacked bar graph - i cant get the data labels to work - they are either rotated the wrong way - or they completely remove values from some graph parts. Does anyone know a really comprehensive learning resource about Illustrator graphs - they look so much nicer than ones in PowerPoint but Illustrator just doesnt do simple things like data labels
Illustrator's graph tools are honestly not the greatest - for something like that, I've always had to manually add the data labels (or at least manually rotate them, etc).
@@GDHT thanks. Good to know it’s not just me. I will add the labels manually. Adobe should get onto it as data visualisation is so popular. Do you know of a better graph tool by any chance?
Yeah, I don't think the graph functions have been updated in YEARS. So we're working with pre-CS6 tech, probably. :l Unfortunately, I don't know of better graph tools with vector output. I did see this, but haven't tried it out at all: www.rawgraphs.io/
Glad to see a woman teaching illustrator. Congrats
Aww thank you!!
