    it is a very useful tutorial, thanks a lot ❤I have a question. by using %00 it will display a number, for instance is 55. If i want to display 55% instead, if there any way i can solve it out? Not have to solved if you are busy, just an open question. Thanks for your effort, the tutorial is good enough. Thanks again

      I would hack it with 2 text objects. One with the number %00 and the other one with the % sign. The first one right aligned, the second one left aligned so that they fit.

    Hi! Thank you so much, this is amazing. Is there a way to write decimal numbers?

    • @Vektorgarten
      @Vektorgarten  Месяц назад +1

      Yes, you can write decimal numbers. The second integer after the % determines how many places you want after the decimal point. With 0 Illustrator should just use as many as necessary, but if you want only 2, you would write %02.

    This has been so useful, thank you. However, I don't know why, even though I follow this video step for step, the bar chart number still sits below where it should. Is this due to an update that's happened therefore it no longer works? I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

      I've had the same problem BUT! I kinda solved it. Having selected the group selection tool be sure you click 3 times, one for the columm, two for all the graph colummns and three for the legend square, if the last one isn't selected the number would not go on top for some reason. Hope this helps!

    very usuful but why doesnt'n work with decimals numbers ? 32,0 or 33.00.... tks

    • @Vektorgarten
      @Vektorgarten  Год назад +1

      If you want to have decimals, enter the text variable differently. %00 lets Illustrator determin the number of places for before and after the decimal comma. If you want to have 2 places after the comma, use %02 and accordingly for other numbers of decimal places.

    Question 1: Is there a way for the text values to display with a dollar sign, ie $32.5 M ? I noticed I can add a prefix and suffix to the tick bar, but using %02 only shows the number.
    Question 2: How would you do this with the text box below the bar chart?
    Thank you so much for this video!

    • @Vektorgarten
      @Vektorgarten  Год назад

      Hi Hilary, if you align the text to the right and then just put an additional text object to the right with the $ sign in it, that should work. I don't think I understand your question #2.

    Very cool indeed! A few simple questions, the above/right square is rotated, right? What does actually do the guide? Does it lock something in the object (the one created in the bottom, with the percentage signs)? I thought you were going to say that the new square, behind, should «fake» the height, like the other two at it's right, but should be invisible, with the number inside it, but just allowing the red or orange one to be seen...
    Thank you.

    • @Vektorgarten
      @Vektorgarten  2 года назад

      The guide tells Illustrator at which point to stretch the design. Its position is relevant when the design is more elaborate. The stretch happens exactly where the guide is. You cannot really control what the legend looks like. You get what you get. It can only be rotated, but it won't look a lot better. Turning it off and doing your own would be best. And yes, the invisible square is the reference for the height.

    • @mguerra79
      @mguerra79 2 года назад

      @@Vektorgarten But then, it is the lower part, up until the guide, that stretches, right?

    • @Vektorgarten

      @@mguerra79 The part below the guide and the part above the guide don't change. The guide is the breaking point where the thing gets stretched. shared-assets.adobe.com/link/31d655d2-e188-4994-72ab-dd33b79df230

    I tried this and it worked perfectly, however when I made a change on the Value Axis or the data it reseted itself. So does this mean I would have to apply the "design" every time I make a change? Cheers

      Illustrator is unfortunately acting erraticly when editing the values. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It cannot be predicted.

    Hello, Is there a way to set the colour of the bars to change automatically according to their height? Let's say if the bar is 19 or under, it is red; and if it is 20 or over it is green. Thanks :)

    • @Vektorgarten
      @Vektorgarten  Год назад +1

      Hello Josefina, this is not a built in function. Maybe it is scriptable and maybe it can be done in spreadsheet software outside of Illustrator and then imported via variables. You could try and read about the Variable Importer script by Vasily Hall, who has written articles around what can be achieved via variables. As an introduction: www.linkedin.com/pulse/variableimporterjsx-illustrator-script-version-8-vasily-hall/

    How do we apply this to bar graphs? I tried doing the same thing and just rotating the %00 when creating the new column design, but when I apply that to the data in my bar graphs it doesnt work. (I'm trying to get the %# to show inside the data bars in a bar graph, and I can get them to show up but the orientation is incorrect (numbers are on their sides) and rotating them doesn't seem to work unless I do it bar by bar manually.

      The process is basically the same. But in line charts you can only customize the data points.

    • @Vektorgarten
      @Vektorgarten  2 года назад

      Unfortunately you can only make visible the numbers entered in the data table. Illustrator won't make any calculations.
