Love to see that in 1440p some games even have +15fps difference, but some ofc doesn't have almost any. It shows that processor still doing it works in 1440p which slowly becomes new standard.
Even in 1440p, with a upper mid tier GPU, 9800x3d still have power to extract some extra fps in half of the new demanding games. Very realistic scenario for testing imo. 5800x3d still a strong recommendation for AM4 owners. Myself I have 5700x3d with a 7800XT in 1440p.
At 4K the stress comes completely off of the CPU on to the GPU.. it's not even worth doing a test of 4K for a cpu unless you got a 5090 as an early Christmas present from Nvidia lol. If you're looking for higher resolution gaming, your GPU is going to be the limiting factor, so that's where you're going to want to spend your money in. There are games where the CPU are more in demands no matter what though.

This video answered a question for me. I've been on the AM4 platform for quite a while. I recently upgraded my GPU to the 4070 ti super and typically play at 1440p. This video shows that I could get a significant benefit by upgrading to the AM5 platform with a 3d cache processor. For this, you earned a sub.
The problem with this test is that the details are on Low. Because no one buys a new computer to play on Low. If you set the details to High, you would see that at 1440p all processors would have the same results. Because then the graphics card is the bottleneck. If you are running RX 7900 XTX or RTX 4080 at 1440p High Details, processors like 7700, 7700X, 7800X3D, 9700X, 9800X3D will give you the same results. In the sense that you will have the same FPS, because the graphics card is the bottleneck.

It really shows how the games are GPU limited and the CPU doesn't make that much of a difference until the GPUs are powerful enough to really need more CPU power in 4k. Can someone tell me if the fps increases on 1440p will reflect on DLSS Quality with 4k (which scales down the resolution to ~1440p) ? Or the increases will be the same as 4k no DLSS (far lower)? Oh, I just saw that e.g. Senua is using the DLSS quality and low graphics presets. OK so the fps increase won't be that much after all. Around ~10%. Do I understand correctly that in higher graphics presets, the increases will be even lower?
So, noticable at 1080p, at 4k no one cares, and 1200p, 1440p, and 1600p, in between. It'd be interesting to know how this scales on a high end graphic card vs a low end one. Does processor matter more depending on the gpu?
Processor matters more depending on the resolution, notice when he plays in 1080p the differences are huge, but in 4k not so much. But to hit those really high FPS at a low resolution you will still need a beefy GPU anyway usually. With a low end GPU it won't be amazing but can get high fps still if you turn down settings.

5800X3D changed the game. Until the 7800X3D came out and did it again the jump in performance was SUBSTANTIAL .
I honestly cannot see any reason to upgrade from my 7800X3D. Gaming in 4K
Please take the same test 5900x 7900x 9900x
mano, de fato percebemos que esses processadores sao muito bons.
How the hell is Hogwarts not even getting 60 on average with 9800X3D?!
strange numbers at 14:33, 1440 God of War - comparing to 1080 and 4K
So, noticable at 1080p, at 4k no one cares, and 1200p, 1440p, and 1600p, in between. It'd be interesting to know how this scales on a high end graphic card vs a low end one. Does processor matter more depending on the gpu?
Processor matters more depending on the resolution, notice when he plays in 1080p the differences are huge, but in 4k not so much.
But to hit those really high FPS at a low resolution you will still need a beefy GPU anyway usually.
With a low end GPU it won't be amazing but can get high fps still if you turn down settings.
I don't understand at all, I watched a lot of reviews everywhere, ryzen 7 7800x3d is better than all even top processors, why? Can you explain?
Por que no haces estas pruebas con los gráficos en ultra o alto,? No creo que alguien compre una 4070ti super para jugar en bajo.
Por que las pruebas se hacen para ver el poder del cpu no del gpu. A mas frames mas cpu, a mas graficas mas gpu
like to see this benchmark with a XFX Speedster Merc 310 Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24GB gpu =)
Looks like my 5800X3D paired with my 4070 TI Super is going to last me another year.
I will upgrade my entire system if I want to buy a RX 8000 or RTX 5000 GPU which will be PCIE 5.0.
i have R7 5700X3D and RTX 4070TI SUPER i aint upgrading atleast 5 years
Mistake in GoW 1440p can raise doubts
For the first time in my life I can say that I have the fastest gaming CPU,nice
look the temp difference. 9800X3d is like 15 to 25C lower than 5800 and 7800. That's huge
5800x3D + 7800xt = combo of champions.
That’s a great combo! 😊
we have to say, the 5800x3d would have more fps if it wouldnt be 4x 8gb. and with a well tuned b die 2x 16gb 3600mhz u can gain a lot of fps on am4. on am5 ram speed doesnt matter in games
7800 x3d the best
Hogwarts legacy with 9800x3d 600 € cpu on 55fps😂
Bought a ryzen 5800x3D end 2023...not bad idea. Now is ryzen 5800x3d not avaible or expensive...for 4k its a great cpu. wait for am6
Great video 👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it
5800x3d single channel? .. on my pc it say dual ranks .. yours say single 9:20
He is using really slow CL19 3600MT/s single channel kits.
Fastest is CL14 - 3600MT/s dual rank.
@@SMGJohn шанс увидеть единорога больше чем эти 3600 cl14 комплекты в продаже
9800x3d seems to run alot cooler, maybe because the cache is below now.
in cyberpunk 1080p medium, low crow density ,dlss quality i do 194 avg 136 1%low with my 5800x3d (same place without recording and overlay). here 154 avg is 25,97% less
Some of the data shown here don't make sense. The performance on some games is much closer according to hardware unboxed with 4090!
the 9800x3d is completely unnecessary CPU at 2K/4K, it's better to use the 7800x3d
Im using the ryzen 7 5700x3d with a 4080. I have similar fps.

If you have tweaked memory on the AM4 side, you will match a lot of the Ryzen 7 9800x3D frame rates on 1% lows avg refresh rates. I have a 21% ram overclock on mine and at 4k with a 4070ti super OC I see no reason to upgrade to AM5 getting the same frame rates someone shoe me the Ryzen 7 9800x3d at 6MHZ stable with OC ram that leads to even more Fram rates and them it's a win. otherwise save your money
Im bagging a 5700x3d if its $150 or less
My a320m is ready to move
Still dont see buying a 9800x3d when my 5800x3d is still.withinh a few fps of it.
Is it worth the premium price to upgrade to a ryzen 9800x3d ? because the ryzen 7800x3d, I bought it for 375 euros, currently it is 550 euros ! worse the 9800x3d is at least 600 euros ! The Ryzen 9800x3d should not cost more than 350 euros. Probably, I will change when it is much cheaper :).
some games were set to low presets on graphics
if you have a 7800X3d wait 11800X3D :)
Why is your 5800x3D/7800x3D running so hot ??
Keeping my 5800x3D and wait for am6 to come
Even Zen 6 Processors are coming for Am5 💪💪💪
5800x3D the GOAT!
Will it bottleneck neck at 4K with a 4080?
its crazy that minions actually bought 7 9800x3d
its a worse Ryzen 9 7950X3D for a ridiculous price
5800x3d the best buy
7800x3d was the best buy until it became ultra expensive because of intel drama lmao.
no , no its not
LMAO you mean for low budget then yes you can said that !! rich people will take 7800X3D or 9800X3D
@@Berkelllagree the 7800x3d best buy out of stock everywhere then lucky currys got them back in stock and managed to grab one for normal price now the 7800x3d is more than 9800x3d 😂
@@cricks1841 That's why i said when it was in normal price because everything got f**ked up after that intel drama lmao. I bought new PC with 7800X3D in resonable prince in august.
upgrade from 5800X3D to 9800x3D is a diminishing return.,
If you use 4070Ti yes there is not much difference in performance because its gpu bottleneck.
if you play 1440p non cpu demanding games, no shit.
@@pira707 to get 18% improvement you need to change CPU 5800X3D to 9800x3D , motherboard am4 to am5 , ram ddr4 to ddr5.
if you know a basic math and the meaning of diminishing return then the conclusion must be stay using 5800X3D in the next 5 years is the best value.
@@Aarlod On some games it's more than "18%". On tarkov or rust it'd be the biggest night and day difference. I also play grand strategy games which justifies my purchase very easily. On tarkov you can go from 103fps on a 7800x3d to 137fps on a 9800x3d 1440p.
@@pira707
i suggest you use that money to join a online courses so your brain can a little bit smarter rather spend that money to boost small fps you call it night and day.
good luck.
I mean youre using a 4070 ti. Ofc youll be GPU locked at 4k.
