Yeah But you can see after king Kong was holding his mouth and mecha g threw him, that he intended to kill king Kong with a fist so even tho fixated on Godzilla...he still sought to end king kong
You can read a lot out of Kong in this battle. He's been laid low by the king of the monsters, and now has to save the one person he hates. Kong this entire movie is trying to take all his angst out on Godzilla. The angst of being the last of his kind, the angst of having no home of his own, he chooses to direct all of that at Godzilla. Then in this final fight, he let's it all go, he directs all his animosity of Godzilla at Mechagodzilla, and is able to let go of his misplaced grudge against Godzilla. And Mecha ignoring Kong for the majority of the fight plays into that. Mecha probably saw that Kong was resuscitated, but he didn't care, Godzilla was his target, and Kong was nothing. Even when Kong joins the fight, Mecha only slaps him out of the way to get back to pummeling Godzilla. Narrativly speaking, Kong just lost his crown to Godzilla, He's not worth Mecha's time, and So Kong has to remind him that he's there, this time with his axe. The very weapon that ends up being Mecha's downfall. The axe that Kong throws away later, finally admitting defeat to Godzilla, and choosing to let go of his angst and anger at what he can't change. For at the end of the day, while Kong is a hero, Godzilla is a force of nature, and as all great tragedies tell us, a Hero can do great things, but even they can not fight a storm. And thus Kong breaks the self destructive cycle and is able to find happiness in a new home. At least that's what I think.
I love how Kong could have easily cut off Mecha-G's head with the powered up axe but instead decides to take his time twisting it off himself. Truly a savage.
I love how Mechagodzilla gradually took Kong more seriously as the fight progressed when he was mainly focusing on Godzilla. In Mechagodzilla’s eyes Kong went from being nothing more than an inconvenience to a primary threat when he brought out the axe. 💀💀
Well Mechagodzilla was specifically designed to kill godzilla, he was created with Ghidorah's remains and supposedly inherited some of his memories, and Godzilla is the far greater threat. The main reason he was getting his ass kicked prior to Kong jumping in is cause he was already bloodied, injured and worn out from his previous fight with Kong.

Notice how the reason you get really hyped when Kong starts dissembling MechaGodzilla is not just because...well, he's dissembling MechaGodzilla BUT the people in the movie start getting really hyped, which in turn hypes the audience and lets us know that this is an incredible moment *Psychology*
This really was a perfectly-balanced outcome that respects both characters. Godzilla defended his title against Kong, but Kong saved Godzilla and killed the big bad.
People is like I can’t believe how hard Godzilla got destroyed by mechagodzilla, Bruh it’s like fighting himself but with upgrades and with heavy armour LOLOL
Mechagodzilla has always been one of Godzilla's toughest opponents and nearly kills him in every movie they fight in, and GvK did not disappoint on that aspect.
I like how as a last ditch effort, MG attempted to send Kong to oblivion with his breath right before he got decapitated. Even at his lowest he went down a badass.
I'm so happy that they allowed Kong to be the one to turn the tide and how they allowed Kong to be the one who destroy Mecha! What an amazing movie! So underrated and a definite crowd-pleaser! Very well-made!
These versions of the characters are the best iterations in my opinion. Godzilla and Kong are suitably enormous and powerful in their own right, and this Mechagodzilla is terrifying in it's effectiveness.
This movie was amazing. I loved every part In it and although it’s not perfect I still loved it. When I watched it in the theaters, everybody was clapping and cheering throughout the entire final battle and when kong tore off mecha Godzilla’s head the entire theatre basically gave a standing ovation. Truly an amazing experience
@@mr.nobody7162 well Godzilla’s screen time wasn’t perfect, they never explained how a little girl could teach a giant ape sign language without anybody knowing, the final battle was apparently split up into 2 battles just so they could say “looks like round 2 goes to kong”, somehow, by jump starting Kong’s heart he is fine even though Godzilla broke his ribs, and the hollow earth is bright and beautiful and they never explain what the light Source is. Still a great movie but it’s not perfect. I personally think it’s impossible for any movie to be completely perfect without any flaws
I really like the details they put into this fight, especially when Mechagodzilla starts getting defeated. He is just a giant machine so instead of blood, they use motor oil or fuel to add the extra detail for the blood effect. Same when Kong rips his head off, the robotic neck parts act as the spinal cord, just like from the Predator movies. I just wish this movie would have came out a lot sooner because this feels like such a 2010’s banger.
The best thing about these films is how well they nailed the weight and spectacle of kaiju. Each attack feels like an earthquake and sounds like a bomb.
This version of Mechagodzilla was so badass that it took both Kong and Gozilla just to fight him to a near standstill. Even then he was tossing them both around quite a bit. If not for the interruption in the satellite link up he'd have finished them IMO.
I agree. The difference between past mechagodzilla and this mecha is that one was controlled by humans and the other by the brain of ghidorah. And like you said he was playing with them.
The real reason that it took both of them is that Godzilla was completely gassed from not only blowing a hole 1000 miles into the earth, but also beating up Kong. And Kong had literally just been revived from the dead or at least dying. Neither of them were much more than 50%
This reminds me of the first time I saw Jurassic World. That ending fight was so amazing, it left me speechless. Then came Godzilla King of the Monsters and I was blown away by the finale (It still remains my favorite of the MonsterVerse). However, the end fight to Godzilla vs Kong was nothing short of a spectacle. I knew Godzilla would win against Kong (it makes sense) but I made sure to avoid the trailers and tv spots so I was legitimately surprised when Mechagodzilla appeared. When Kong joined the fight, I kid you not, the audience cheered. Never have we seen the two kings battle together. As for that finisher, it is one of Kongs defining moments. Now he has something over Godzilla: defeating two robotic doppelgängers. Easily one of the best theater going experiences of my life and I saw it in IMAX. For my first theater film in a year, it was astounding!
I could mostly say the same thing for me and my cinema crew the movie bros this was our first film in cinema this year here in Ireland and definitely the biggest monster movie I've been excited for since I got into cinemasscare and its creator James Rolfe
What’s hilarious is my brain does uncanny valley for Jurassic world cgi but not this. I had to remind my self this was cgi. I know it’s obvious but getting into the Adrenaline of the action you do forget.
Here’s the thing, if Godzilla hadn’t charged up his axe, Kong would have eventually been defeated by him, There is no way Kong even in that situation could 100% evade Mechagodzilla’s proton scream and his homing missle attacks.
@@joecool4872 Off topic but do you think Destoroyah will be in the monsterverse as a final villain? I think its very possible that he could. But do you think that means Godzilla dies? I think Destoroyah should be in something like Destroy all monsters or Save the Earth or something like that. Shimo, and freezer guns vs Godzilla atomic breath, Rodan’s uranium heat beam, Mothra’s antenna beam could probably overwhelm Destoroyah as Destoroyah’s weakness is extreme temperatures.
@@beazrich2.017 I think that's pretty likely. @@joecool4872 Yup, and Kong did pass by what looks to be crustacean like creatures in Hollow Earth in Godzilla vs Kong movie. What if one of those was nearby when it happened? I Think its a high possibility that is what creates Destoroyah as they were purplish redish in color too. I just hope that the next Godzilla centered movie doesn’t make the same mistake they did in KOTM where they didn’t show enough of the fighting going on with Godzilla vs King Ghidorah etc. Who knows what the next villain will be. King Ghidorah being of an alien origin does open the door to Gigan, and Hollow Earth does open the doors to Baragon and Megalon so who knows if they will be on the big screen. But Legendary has to have rights to use them first and its not a given that Toho would let them have the rights. It could also be Biolante, or Hedorah too.

what's amazing is how powerful that axe was while powered up. from barely scrathing Mecha to straight up slicing its limbs
turns out all it needed was some juice to turn it back into a power axe
@@jeremybk54well his atomic breath is basically a highly charged concentrated proton beam that’s why it’s blue due to the radiation ionizing in the air. And we all know how hot nuclear energy can be when a reaction occurs.
If you learn about atomic energy and the science behind it makes sense why his beam is blue and why the axe would easily burn through mechagodzilla.
Science lol
Cause nuclear energy is hot and atomic materials can easily burn through metal and concrete. Idk I just understand a little enough about atomic energy.

Kong: Your head is going on my WALL!
my next target: the predator
I think the best shot in this scene is at 2:19, when Kong is like “What the hell are you… OHHHHH!”
It's pretty much the equivalent to Thor's lightning powering up Tony's suits.
And the look on kongs face, he probs thought he was trying to destroy it
2:18
the roar after was him saying OOHHHHH
Mechagodzilla: "You missed"
Godzilla: "I wasn't aiming for you"
Notice how the reason you get really hyped when Kong starts dissembling MechaGodzilla is not just because...well, he's dissembling MechaGodzilla
BUT the people in the movie start getting really hyped, which in turn hypes the audience and lets us know that this is an incredible moment
*Psychology*
True, I kinda like that they included that small scene even though I disliked the human characters in this movie
This really was a perfectly-balanced outcome that respects both characters. Godzilla defended his title against Kong, but Kong saved Godzilla and killed the big bad.
I was totally against the idea of them teaming up but this scene was so fun to watch
Why? just curious
I just didn’t like the idea of them teaming up. I thought it was to predictable

its like fighting a true godzilla specimen alpha which is bigger
Combined that with the fact it's King Ghidorah in control of the mech, pissed off and out for revenge.
Mechagodzilla has always been one of Godzilla's toughest opponents and nearly kills him in every movie they fight in, and GvK did not disappoint on that aspect.
Actually Godzilla was tired and injured
Also didn't help he wasn't at full power.

Kong should be in a Mortal Kombat game with that attitude

@@Penguinzero1Yes. The previous MechaGodzilla incarnations aren't as fast and well-equipped as this one
I agree. The difference between past mechagodzilla and this mecha is that one was controlled by humans and the other by the brain of ghidorah. And like you said he was playing with them.
@@Maelodas nope

Let’s remember that Ghidoras consciousness is inside the Mecha Godzilla. Thus being the reason why Godzilla got the most hands 😭😭💀
The mere fact that Kong held up his own against Mechagodzilla was amazing
Here’s the thing, if Godzilla hadn’t charged up his axe, Kong would have eventually been defeated by him, There is no way Kong even in that situation could 100% evade Mechagodzilla’s proton scream and his homing missle attacks.
@@beazrich2.017 The whole point was that Godzilla and Kong had to work together to beat Mechagodzilla
I mean the Monster Verse is doing really good right now so I can see them making a bunch of movies to continue the verse with all kinds of villains, old and new. So yeah I can def see something like Destoroyah appear, I mean they already used the oxygen destroyed so its very feasible.
