The way to beat RID is to refuse to comply. This is a major security risk to those that have to comply due to 107 or who have to register their drone, but lawsuits are already in place regarding this issue and this rule has also seen the largest amount of feedback on FAA history (50k+ comments), and they don’t care.

yup. Peaceful protests because if no one does it then they know it's a bad law. They want you to be afraid of the fact that you can lose your license. Could you fight it in court. Of course you can and take it all the way to the supreme court. Also was the law implemented through the US Congress? If it was then yes you can get in trouble. If not then it's not a Constitutional law. Certain things are common sense and should be law but remote ID is almost like a test drive of a Remote ID for future cars.

well you should tell that to people who do stupid things like putting drones into the flight paths of manned aircraft for tiktok videos. this guy just broke at least a couple of trespassing laws by flying his drown over some one else's property let alone if the home own wants to press invasion of privacy charges( imagine banging Ms.Peter Massee in your back yard and this thing flying over your house). A simple google search and you find 100s of cases of peeping toms now using drowns to spy on women in apartment buildings Remote ID makes it easier to find and prosecute these individuals. These laws suits are likely to go no where. because 1 you do not have a constitutional right to purchase or fly a drone and two the FAA has complete jurisdiction and often given broad latitude to police and insure safety in US air space. Much like how people of a certain amendment get punished harshly for the stupidity and criminality of a few. We RC pilots and drone pilots are going to get nailed too.

If you make doing something legally overcomplicated, they're just going to do it illegally (especially when there is essentially zero enforcement mechanism). You're right the government is 2 steps ahead of the public on this one. They fully intend to make drone ownership so difficult you give up and surender your drone. But....If you really don't like it you should challenge the FAA on the grounds they are violating your 2nd amendment right to keep and bear arms.
The wars in Syria and now Ukraine have shown beyond any doubt drones are arms. The government is well aware of this and the rules they are trying to place on drone owners reflect it. FAA has even went so far as to sight "national security issues" as a justification for remote ID....
As arms your right to own and operate drones free of government registries, fees and or having to inform the government where you are is protected by the 2nd amendment. Both registration and remote ID clearly run a foul of Supreme Court precedent regarding arms.

People have been flying fixed wings forever. You actually think "companies" are just going to up and try and kill the RC hobby? You think a company is actually going to help put themselves out of business? Because that's what would happen to DJI. Do you actually think the government will pick them to make drones for them? 😂
DJI has to conform with the new laws of the United States. Simple as that. They're not forcing remote ID on you, the government is.
Where DJI was deceitful in all of this is how they sold a million units (don't know the real number) and didn't say anything, and then after people's return period was up they do this remote ID update. Almost like a bait and switch. I know if I had purchased the Avata and they did this crap and I couldn't return it, I would be livid.
DJI knew the remote ID thing would change people's minds about buying the Avata and so they hid it until after 30 days, and that's where the deceit comes in.
This other conspiracy theory you guys have come up with is nonsense though. For one, that wouldn't kill the hobby, it would just push people to DIY, so your theory just doesn't make sense in any aspect.
      Edit:
My recommendation for a used drone is an Evo 2 pro. It was my first and will be my last consumer drone. I would buy one now though. The prices will go up once every other drone has remote ID and geofencing.

@@Thunderbyrd. yup, that is the "plan". The corporatists want corporate control of everything and if they get their way the only drones flying will belong to Amazon, Walmart, etc. The last thing these corporate entities want is an airspace crowded by civilian traffic because that would interfere with their revenue stream. Sure the FAA is looking out for air traffic issues, but in the end they are really just slowly clearing the airspace for corporations to get rid of human delivery of products and goods so they can maximize profit.....just think how many jobs would be eliminated with drone fleets performing delivery service, I know it sounds "conspiracy theory" but the legal obligation of a publicly traded company is to maximize shareholder profit, and the easiest and fastest way to do that is to eliminate human jobs.....and the easiest way to eliminate the millions of human delivery jobs is with automated drones, but drone delivery service would be hampered with civilian human air traffic clogging up the lower airspace.....the simplest fix there is to make drone flying difficult and cumbersome to the point that it's not fun and people would then stop doing it, freeing up the airspace for Amazon/etc to scale up their drone delivery service.

Interesting video. I am Part 107 certificated. I recently took the recurrent training. Why do you say that if I'm Part 107 certified I need to do this upgrade? In all my Part 107 courses I have never seen a requirement that I run the latest firmware. Now, as of September 2023 I understand that I must be RID compliant, but that has not happened yet. So, in the meantime, where is the requirement that I run the latest firmware and/or app?
For me the question is academic. I've become a 90% Autel guy because of DJI's intrusive regulation. Although I still own a couple of older DJI drones and sometimes use them when I'm sure I won't run into problems. I paid a lot of money for them and I'd like to get some use out of them while I can. Step 3) Put your phone/tablet in airplane mode before pairing it with the drone, so it flies on the old FW and doesn’t force an update. Step 4) Purchase a cheap add-on RID module. Love your videos. Whether they are more satire or serious. This RID we knew was coming. DJI just made the jump first. Us FPV guys are gonna have it a little tough later on this year. I get both sides of arguments. But unless its educational with a 107 pilot...us fpv guys don't usually above the trees. No reward for us there. All about proximity and tricks below 150agl.
Once again thanks for your content! 👍 👌

You make a solid point. If they programmed in altitude limits instead that could be unlocked by enabling RID that would make perfect sense. Under 200AGL in Class E presents literally no risk - frankly I'd argue the same for 400AGL since that's under the minimum flight deck for helis. My 107 should allow me to fly up to 1,200 AGL with the responsibility being on me to avoid heli collisions.

G i Ken, What's next, unable to fly, to many delivery drones in the area ? I had a DJI Mini, but it stopped working and will cost more than a new one. Thanks, DJI. I build my own quads, and 90% are under the 250gm weight regulation, so I'm not planning to go take a test for I can fly a toy safely,

    FCC Rule 15:
    A. This device must not produce interference.
    B. This device must accept any and all interference it receives.
IMO, this very much means that all FCC 15 Compliant devices can be remote hacked by the govt at their whim.
This is why I've never been part of the drone community.
