      The irony of the sin's death is one of my fave.
      Lust got killed by a known womanizer, roy
      Gluttony gets eaten by pride
      Envy commits suicide when he realized that he is envious to humans
      Sloth overexhaust himself fighting the armstrongs.
      Wrath got defeated by someone who was once full of wrath but found peace, scar. And he also died smiling peacefully.
      Pride got defeated when kimblee managed to distract him cause he lost his pride. He also got turned into a fetus (a human) which he always think to be lower than him. And he also got defeated by someone who was once full of pride but became humble, ed.
      Greed dies thankful and satisfied with what he have, friends.
      Thanks for this journey ❤️

    Notice the difference between the Dwarf in the Flask's "Door" and Edward's "Door". Ed's has all the knowledge he has about alchemy and the world on it, whereas the Dwarf's is completely blank, showing he has truly learnt nothing.

      which is so odd because he knows so much. i get the metaphoric meaning...but the Dwarf is a portion of God. That's WHY he has the knowledge by default. Crazy because he only exists because a bunch of Xerxian assholes pulled him out and tethered him to reality with human blood. The secret villain - King of Xerxes and his primary alchemist

    • @tim_soup7099
      @tim_soup7099 Год назад +21

      @@no1guy825 The markings on the doors might reflect the Sefirot of the Kabbalah. In this school of thought, specifically the Cordoveran Kabbalah, it is explained that these are the unique emanations of God's essence (or in the show's case, 'Truth'). If these emanations, the markings on the characters' doors, reflect the same role they have in this school of thought then it can be assumed the markings don't reflect alchemical knowledge, but instead the conscious emotions and intellect (in a metaphorical sense) of the door's owners. We can assume this because you can gain alchemical knowledge without experience (through blood sacrifice).
      The Flask's (Father's) door might represent his connection towards the self-materialization of God (like the rest of the sacrifices' doors). Only, despite him having the deepest metaphysical connection, his door's surface is clean, devoid of any conscious realizations which reflects his shallow outlook on creation, humanity, and existence despite his seemingly enlightened connection to truth.
      This might also be the reason why Truth admits defeat to Edward in the end, because unlike most, Edward gave truth a bargain higher than the base emotions offered to him before. Which in the sefirot gematria shows a higher self-actualization than the ones offered to Truth in the show thus far, or since.

    • @Iqnacio.
      @Iqnacio. Год назад +7

      @@no1guy825 Other than what the previous answer said (which was honestly really interesting and probably a better answer that the one I'll give tbh), I've always interpreted it as the truth showing all what you've learned "from life" from experiencing life itself, this for humans includes alchemy, but also just truths of the world as it is. However, for the Dwarf, he already knew all those things before being "alive", he came into existence already knowing basically everything about alchemy, but he didn't "live" his life, he never gave himself that chance even after getting a body, cause then he started his plan and that became his sole purpose, even to the point of disposing of his own core emotions or "sins", ironically giving all of them a better chance at experiencing life, since they do have emotions and desires (although only one of them had the _greed_ to actually seek those life experiences instead of simply following orders), so in the end, the Dwarf never actually learned anything from life.
      Also, to me this explains why Ed doesn't seem to really change after giving his door, not his view on life nor his personality, cause he didn't really forget "how" to do alchemy, instead he gave up the means to put that knowledge into practice, like when you know something but you can't seem to express it well or you don't remember the word for it.

    It's the biggest fault of most anime out there is they don't know how to end it. That's what makes FMAB so damn good is it's a perfect story from beginning to end with amazing characters and a chef's kiss of an ending to wrap it all up. It's been a pleasure watching it again with you!

    • @viktormon

      I like brotherhood storywise. But emotional wise I prefer the 03 versión. They didn't ease up or make light of the dark themes and storylines. It had more filter, but give the brothers more adventure, and give us a more emotional connection to the side character. ( we knew Nina for more than one episode so it hurt more when she died and Tucker actually paid for her death more than a Quick death he receive in brotherhood) More grounded in reality in that there was no perfect happy ending, everyone paid a price for their sins. The ending upset and screwed up everyone that they had to make a movie to soften it up.

      completely agreed .FMAB has done a really great job on wrapping up the story .
      Various shows like GOT those were goated ended in a bad spot because of not knowing how to wrap up.
      Every character has a Arc that represents their growth . Every antagonist is understandable and makes sense from their point of view .
      Even psychopaths like Kimblee who just want see the world burn and just want to enjoy being alive are as much compelling as scar who wanted to destroy those who burned his hometown .

      Naw, a lot of manga authors know how they want to end their stories but pacing is determined by editorial. The problem is that if a story gets popular enough not to get canceled right away, editorial usually wants them to stretch the story and then when its not popular anymore editorial also wants the authors to end it right away usually within one chapter.

    - Lust died to a man;
    - Gluttony was eaten;
    - Wrate died calmly
    - Sloth fought
    - Envy died by humiliation after feeling too jealous
    - Pride not really died but was acting with no pride at all
    - Greed was finally satisfied in his own life
    Arakawa's a genious ❤
    PS: also, did you notice that since the beggining we could know the relation between Elric brother's and Xerxes? (but we still miss this because is such a good detail) Hohenheim was from Xerxes and those people had yellow eyes. In Amestris no one has eyes like this, just Hohenheim, Ed and Al.

      Yeah, there's the quote about standing on the shoulders of giants. If Father truly wanted anything other than power, he could have worked with people to attain it.
      And he didn't even rid himself of his sins. He just locked them into an unchanging state. He was still greedy, prideful, wrathful, slothful, etc. But he never grew, while each of the sins had experiences that shaped them, even if it only occurred right before they died.

    Father separated his 7 sins but he seems remain arrogant and greedy for knowledge, which means he did not completely get rid of these 'flaws'. Truth considering father as 'diffident in himself ' is probably because he had been constrained by something-- flask, the identity of human-born and those 7 basic sins-- father deep-down hates his identity, but he failed to acknowledge the fact that 'achieving perfection is to accept imperfection'. Compared to Ed, he made huge mistakes and has been redeeming himself, and eventually accepting himself as a 'flawed human'.

      Why do I feel some injustice for Father even though he deserves that punishment he received at the end? I mean, Father originated from Hohenheim. We can approach in this angle where his existence is just the embodiment of "desiring freedom". Father was extracted from Hohenheim is similar to what the 7 seven deadly sins were extracted from Father. No one wants to exist based on an extreme one idea like being hungry all the time or always jealous of humans to the point of insanity.
      I guess Truth knows that Father is complete enough to be judged by his own actions. It's still sad though.

    • @punholui7463
      @punholui7463 2 года назад +1

      @@jankyyard5610 That is actually a very good point of father being the extracted desire for freedom from Hohenheim, considering Hohenheim was a slave having a limited amount of freedom. But at the same time I am wondering why Father still possesses the 7 sins even he is the embodiment of 'freedom'.
      At the same time, the crave of freedom does not mean you have to harm all millions of people. There is a huge difference between an infant hater and an infant killer. So I IMO, I understand why father behaves this way, but not disagree his way to approach knowledge, or more precisely, freedom and confidence.

      @@jankyyard5610I mean the truth is, both Hohenheim and father were victims, and in the end, they both lived sad lives and got pretty sad endings. Hohenheim was born a slave and after being given immortality, was forced to live with all those souls within him and spent the rest of his life trying to stop father, he never got to spend much time with his wife and kids and came back to see the wife dead and kids in a broken state and spent the rest of the time he had left allowing his kids to hate him so he could focus on stopping father, he made things right though before his death, and father was born as a slave in a flask too, in the end, all he wanted was to know everything so he could no longer feel like he was still in a flask. They were blood brothers cursed from the beginning

      You are absolutely correct. Everything that the 7 Sins Homonculus feel according to their namesake are all desires being cut off from Father himself. The desire to have true friends that Greed feel throughout his entire existence, the enviousness that Envy feel towards human connection and human bonds which he don't have. These all came from Father. Being trapped in the Flask for decades (Hohenheim aging from teenager to middle age), Father longed for a true friend and to have human connections just like the rest of the people and he is jealous of the people who had all these, which he covered up by mocking the inefficiency and inconvenience of humans needing to form communities to survive as he is too proud to admit that he is just like the rest of the Humans. He is too proud, as he sees himself as above Humans due to the knowledge he was born with that came from the Gate of Truth.

    This show is without a doubt the best written and most entertaining show that has ever been made. It is pure and utter perfection in every single way from dialogue, music, voice acting, emotion, storytelling, plot, worldbuilding, plot twists, foreshadowing, characters. In every department it delivers and I'm happy to have rewatched this show with you. Like you said it truly is one of a kind.

    that closing lines from Ed are so wise and true, i read the manga back in 2008 and watched the anime in 2010 and to this day i still struggling with myself to commit some "sacrifices" to gain something. You want a better future? sacrifice some of your fun times and study/work hard. You want a fit and healthy body? sacrifice those soda and pizza, and so on. Keep moving forward, step by step, make those improvements, and don't worry if you fall because we humans helps each other. I hope you and anyone who watch this show can gain a fullmetal heart strong enough to overcome anything.

    I’d definitely watch a Q&A / blooper video. FMAB is one of those series you just don’t want to end, so I don’t blame you for wanting to keep it going for another video or two.
    Also I’m so excited for you to watch Arcane next!! It’s impossible to replace FMAB, but Arcane is still a very special show and I think you’ll end up loving it too.

    I always loved the details of the Homunculus deaths.
    Lust - Died by hatred fueled fire.
    Gluttony - Eaten.
    Sloth - Overexerted his energy.
    Envy - Kills himself.
    Wrath - Dies peacefully.
    Greed - Dies not wanting anything else.
    Pride - The pride of the homunculus goes on to live a regular human life.

      One scene you might want to revisit is the scene where Selim was reciting an essay he wrote in school about his "father" Bradley. While it sounded really innocent at that time, now that we know Selim is Pride, the essay had an underlying message to Bradley to remember his place and to obey Pride

    FMAB is easily in my top 5 stories of all time and my #1 anime of all time. It's the perfect length too. Long enough that it gets everything done, but not too long to not be able to binge in a few days.

    It’s just amazing how well this show holds up even as it’s starting to be a decently old show now. I’ve watched innumerable shows/played through a multitude of games/read a small mound of books since the time I first watched through FMA:B and not once has anything managed to supplant it for it’s title of “best ending”. Truly nothing has stuck the landing more perfectly.

  • @Madaoh
    @Madaoh 2 года назад +2

    This is seriously making me want to rewatch FMAB again even tho I rewatched it like 2 months ago. I would recommend Gin no Saji (Silver Spoon) by the same author. It's about a city boy who enrolls in an agriculture school in Hokkaido and now has to face the harsh reality of agriculture and farming. It's a unique anime, I honestly haven't found an anime that's quite like this. P.s animals in this anime are so cute, you might not want to eat them after watching this.
