How to open the trunk from the inside for a MK7 - 7.5 Golf R - GTI

If you have problems opening the trunk of your VW Golf, here is a way to open it from the inside. This can work with other cars brand or other models. The car is a 2019 Volkswagen Golf R MK 7.5.

Thank you! I got my jacket stuck and now it’s open. Easy. I kept trying but didn’t realize I got it open the first time but didn’t push up hard enough on the tailgate to realize I had done it. Easier if someone is lifting the tailgate from the outside.

Just use the key, put it in the horizontal slot below the vertical one and slide it from right to left.

Check the owner manual pg 125. They suggest using the key

What if this doesn't work? Moving the white lever does not disengage the latch. What do I do? You can't take the large plastic panel off from inside, can you?

I tried taking it off but couldnt. The white lever didnt work

What if it doesnt open on the outside after? Could it be a breaker? 🤔

Maybe. in that case I will try to remove the plastic cover and see what was wrong.

I replaced the fuse and it still did not work i suspect a short circuit i will have to remove the plastic cover as you mentioned and inspect the wires. Thank you 🙏🏼

I know but in my case I have the strap of my military backpack in the locking device and was to hard to use the key. Also I don't like to play with the car key and have the chance to damage the key. I will use it as last resource.
