      He was a great wrestler, but when he became the owner of the promotion he spent too much time doing "Business Lunches" and pretty much stopped hitting the gym, he really let his physique go. Probably the only reason he was allowed to be in the ring during that last match was because he owned the ring.

    Everytime I see a list on this topic, there is always one wrestlers that everyone keeps forgetting. Daniel “Spider” Quirk. In 2005, he had a match with Hi-Lite Kid. HLK went for a piscada or something, but accidentally caught his foot on the ropes. Spider tried to break his fall, but HKL landed too high. Ribs first into Spider's head, Hi- Lite Kid's full weight landed on Spider's skull, and with no time to brace his fall, Spider landed full force onto the ground. As I recall, Spider was unconcious and bleeding from his head so much that the match was stopped, and I think Spider died on his way to the hospital. He was only 22. RIP

    • @FromTheInternets
      @FromTheInternets 8 лет назад +2

      +Mark If you take in consideration that the deceased people in the video were ENTERTAINERS, I don't think they wouldn't want people to be so serious about the matter either. Like I said in a previous comment: people act like the only thing you can say about the matter is "rip" and cry a silent tear or you won't have any respect and you're a horrible human being.

    • @volrath__
      @volrath__ 8 лет назад +2

      FromTheInternets I'm not saying we all have to be ultra serious about every death ever. No, a well timed death joke can be hilarious. Laughing in the face of adversity and sadness is a very human thing to do, one of my favourite wrestling related jokes is "Andre the Giant was a friendly giant and had a big heart, which in the end is what killed him".
      Dark humour is good but, almost no one that my post is aimed at is making jokes, or being light hearted about the subject. Its just memes, the same memes that are on every other WhatCulture video it doesn't matter about the subject, all people seem to care about is who their favourite voiceover guy is. They aren't referencing the entertainers, or even being entertaining, they are just spamming what they spam on every other video.
      To me its like if you and a friend have a certain catchphase or way of talking, and one day during a conversation about something serious that has happened to him you break out the catchphase. It shows an inability to be tactful, to realise there is a time and a place for those kind of antics.

    Though matches are scripted, sometimes a fall or another kind of move goes wrong and disaster happens. I have watched rehearsals back in the fifties and some moves require many hours of practice. Perro's death was pretty much the most heartbreaking simply because it was a simple freak accident.

    Really sad all of these. On Janette Wolfe moolah and Mae Young were there. They wrestled both matches with her. They told her not to do the second match and they gonna get someone to take her to the hospital but she said no and wrestled.

    i feel stupider for all the "you missed eddie" and "pero jr died from a broken neck, not heart attack" comments eddie died of heart failure in a hotel room, and jr died from a heart attack triggered by a spinal injury in his match.

    Chick Garibaldi died Feb. 18, 1961 when he had a heart attack after taking a body slam from Bruno Sammartino. Bruno said he wasn’t so worried when Chick went limp, but that it did worry him when Chick’s eyes rolled back in his head and he made a gurgling sound. Bruno said it stayed with him for the longest time. Also, Daniel Quirk, aka “The Spider”, died May 28, 2005 after hitting his head during a match when catching his opponent who was executing a moonsault. Quirk was outside the ring, and when his opponent, Hi-Lite Kid, went for the moonsault, he caught his foot in the rope. Quirk tried to compensate by catching Hi-Lite unusually high, and the result saw Quirk crash into the floor, which had no mats according to an eyewitness, with Hi-Lite landing with pretty much all his weight on Quirk’s head.

    There's so many tools commenting on this video with their terrible jokes and off-topic comments that I don't think I can find a toolbox to contain them all....
    Bad joke aside, this is a serious matter about tragedies that happened from the sport that we all seem to love or have loved at some point in our lives, otherwise we wouldn't be watching this, so it's kind of sad seeing the disrespect. Thankfully over the 100+ years that this has been a sport, there haven't been many more than this, but it's still sad to know this many have.
