Don’t forget the first 1,000 people to use this link will get a 1 month free trial of Skillshare: skl.sh/josephdebenedictis08211… Now who’s gonna win the 100-meter race??
I was volunteering in the athletes village during the 2010 olympics and we were all huddled together watching the men’s hockey team go into OT. When Crosby scored, you could hear the entire city roar to life as everyone came onto their balconies in the surrounding buildings and started screaming. It gives me shivers to this day! Thanks for the great video 🥰
Best Olimpic moment ever 🇨🇦 Vancouver 2010 was magic !!
Yes, I was one of them yelling when that goal went in! I believe there are videos on here about that specific moment.
For me I wasn't there but knowing Megan Agosta and seeing her play was amazing. I worked at Rona at the time and we had a tv set up in the entrance to the store to watch the Olympics and during the gold medal games I was working, it was almost completely dead in the store and when customers did come in we caught them up on the score since they left home and announced goals over the pa. They would wait by the front until it looked good to go and we'd run with them to get what they needed and run back in between goals. It was some of the best shifts in retail ever!
I too was a volunteer @ the 2010 & watched that amazing gold in men's hockey outside in the sunshine (because it was unseasonably warm that Feb) great memories.
@@debmcgerrigle3477 yes they had to truck in snow for some of the events because of not enough for the events. And over here In Ontario we had lots. It goes to show for all the Americans that actually believe that we have snow year round that it's not true
I am Canadian, a man and I can't believe you did not include women's hockey. In 2014 in Sochi the Canadian women were playing the States for Gold. I had a big meeting with a number of people in a place which had the game playing on the television. The meeting would not start because everyone was watching the game, Canada scored the winning goal the place erupted and we could get on with the meeting. No one was turning the television off until the game was over
I know one of the American players. They are very competitive with each other but have a tremendous amount of respect too. It’s a lovely rivalry and a must see. 👏👏
Its Ian Millar and he lives in Perth Ontario and there is a sculpture of his horse Big Ben who won gold in 1987 in the town park. Pronounced Miller lol
Bringing to mind another famous Canadian horse from Oshawa, Ontario is Northern Dancer a Triple Crown winner
Psh everyone knows the summer Olympics don’t count, it’s just something to tie us over until the Winter Olympics come back around.
Either way we beat them per capita so we still win 🤣🤣🤷♀️
Summer Olympics are dull, except the gymnastics, that's pretty cool. But rowing a boat? SNZZZZZZZZ. Winter games are fast, dangerous, exciting!
Glad to hear you got sponsored. Congrats guys!
Thank you!!
That’s was great!
Well done Olympic research too.
You both are funny..in sync with each other..even when finishing a race!
Well done and take care 🇨🇦 ❤️
It is true that the USA has a much bigger population to pull athletes from, so winning a medal is huge. When California alone has more citizens than Canada, we are True North Proud. Great job guys and good move skill share.
Great video. Thanks guys.
Hahaha! Jason, I watched this video after the olympics we’re over and Degrasse did Canada proud!!! And the Women’s soccer won gold as well!!! 🏅🏅🇨🇦😷
Many years ago, my uncle & aunt from Michigan were visiting us here in Ontario while the Olympics were on. They commented how interesting it was to watch on Canadian TV as more than just the USA players were shown. They went on to commented that, unless you knew otherwise, you'd think only USA was competing by the coverage at their home. But I guess with the difference in team sizes, it makes sense! 👍👍
I do not think it has anything to do with team size, it's just that the US is more country-centric. I never watch the Olympics on a US channel because they show a little bit of one event, just enough to see the US competitor then switch to another sport to show another US athlete, then to another sport to show a heat featuring a US athlete, etc. They almost never show an event from start to finish like we do in Canada.
In fairness at least the yanks have lots to follow
I believe bUy American TV standards the only metal in lady soccer was Megan’s “”””””BRONZE”””””””””
DONUT even know if she stood for Canadian song
I can’t believe you guys TIED! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I didn’t even think that was possible! Great video. You guys are great
i believe it happened today in high jump!!!
@@AllDayShorts247 no freaking way! Wow!!! 🤯😱
@@Meditateandmanifest11 look up "can we have two gold".
@@AllDayShorts247 woooooowww!!!! Amazing!!! Thank you for sharing!
Oleksiak and Manuel did that in the 100m freestyle race in Rio 2016, and then they almost did again in the 4x100m freestyle relay this year.
Love you guys! I have 1 Canadian parent, one American! TIED!
I remember during the 2014 Winter Olympics when Canada and the USA were in the hockey finals (I think it was mens’ finals, but I can’t remember), someone had posted online a sign or billboard from somewhere that said something like “whoever loses the finals gets to keep Justin Bieber.” Well, the USA lost, so they had the “honours” of keeping him 😝
That was 2010. Canada won in 2014 and faced Sweden in the finals
@@nicoletimko1285 I might have been mistaken with the match being the finals (my mistake), but it was definitely a match between Canada and the USA with that billboard up at the 2014 Olympics. I remember this because I was studying in St. John’s during those Olympics.
Thanks for bringing a smile to my face this morning. Exactly what I needed. Congratulations on the SkillShare sponsorship! Can’t wait for the in-person rematch hopefully very soon. We gotta get you two back together on the same soil soon!
I met Donovan Bailey in 1998, and it was one of the BEST DAYS OF MY LIFE! He was my hero 😀 He was so awesome and so nice! That race was against American sprinter Michael Johnson to see who was the fastest, and Donovan Bailey won the race.
That was fun, as usual. Keep inspiring.
Great video..brought back memories of olympics past especially those amazing hockey games.
Been a while good to see both of you again, and congrats on the tie.
Another great video... congratulations on your first of many sponsorships :)
Love watching these! Keep 'em coming. Love watching the respect you have for each other. Dave in Canada.
Thanks for a fun video with true Olympic spirit.
This was interesting and *so* fun! Love to watch the interaction between you guys! 😊
Thanks Colleen! Glad you enoyed!
Very nice to see you both again :-) Hello from Ottawa ON.
You asked if to people actually tied in the olympics, then I would recommend watching the high jump finals of the Tokyo Olympics
Omg yall made my day. I mean you both are national treasures to each country. Thank you for all the hard work 💪.
haha! No thank you!
Love this great topic
Lmao the edit on that car lift is *Gold* 🏅😂💯🙌
Jason sent me that clip like that. I died.
@@JosephD same lol
There was actually a split gold medal this year between Qatar's Mutaz Essa Barshim and Italy's Gianmarco Tamberi in high jump! Was super awesome to see 😁
can't wait till you two get back together.....what fun!
That was just an absolute joy to watch. How fitting for the tie. I think someone may have been sandbagging a little. Can't wait for the rematch. Good job guys.
I just love watching you guys.
This was awesome!
Your guys channel is officially the Tim Hortons coffee of the internet for me.
Loved this video, couldn't help but start trolling aloud when the NHL comment was made, glad you followed up with that meme lol! Thanks for the great content, as always.
Wow. Good job. I'd like to see an in-person reunion.
Another great one guys! Can not wait for the border to open to see you guys reunite! Used to live in Detroit and crossed to Windsor on a weekly basis.... Miss watching all the CBC 22 Minutes comedy with Mary Walsh. Also Jason, very cool glasses! What brand?
Great video.
So glad neither of you got an injury. And Joe, if your getting a hip replacement, no problem. I had both done. Now wait to have a knee done. Arrgggg. Thanks once again for the laughs. You both are to funny, Can’t wait to see you on ice! Be safe.
Finally a Canadian man got an Olympic medal. The ladies have been rocking though. Exercising in the heat is tough for Canadians.
Edit also two men's high jumpers shared the gold this games.
A score of 10 - the decathlon
I'm all for the 100 metre dash reunion! 🏃♂️🏃♂️👍
That was fun!
You guys are so funny lol. Good luck to you both.
You 2 guys are first class talking about Canada and USA and competing against each other kèp up the great work
Hilarious, guys! Another great video! Border opening soon too, yes!👍
Just as you crossed the finish line, RUclips hit me with a commercial for Voltaren. Hope you didn't need too much after that race.
😂
This has been my favorite event of the Olympics experience so far. Congratulations Jason and Joseph on your wins (at the Olympics, if there is a tie for first place, both win the gold).
You are both winner's in your own right Love you guys !! 💕
Damn that was a close race 🏅
I still have chills when I listen to Bruni Surin describe when he pass the stick to Donovan Bailey at the 4x100m relay at the 1996 Atlanta Games!
LoL nice tied race boyz! :)
Ryan Smyth also held the moniker “Captain Canada”
My English friend assumed that I considered America to be our biggest hockey rivalry and was surprised that I consider it to be Russia. Ya know, cold war commies and the Summit Series etc.
@@curmudgeonaf When Russia plays America who'd you rather win? I rest my case.
@@curmudgeonaf 1A and 1B.
For a future video you guys should try restaurants that are not in each others countries (Or very limited amount of that restaurant)
Yes to the rematch!
There was tie in Rio in swimming where Penny Olesiak and American swimmer both got Gold medals. Great vid.
Oh wow!
I so look forward to your videos! They're the epitome of showing the friendly rivalry between our great nations.
Plus they always make me smile! And I really needed that today!
:D
I'm so addicted to this channel!!! My mom will be too because she's always comparing us to the States!!! Lol
What a great sponsor!!
You guys didn’t sing the Anthems! Lol, that was fun though. Good job you guys 😊
Yes!!! Do a live rematch streamed.
Definitely want to see a real one. Congrats on the tie
I wanna see the 100 metre dash rematch.
LMAO … thanks for the laughs! Look at our Canadian women’s soccer team - we kick ass!
Women's hockey. How could you leave out Women's Olympic Hockey?
Joseph . . . great t-shirt. Where did you get that?
100th Grey cup train tour. When I worked for the CFL!
Track rarely awards a tie. Swimming it's very commonly
In 100 metre dash, you guys forgot about Carl Lewis and Ben Johnson.
Ben dishonoured us by doping. I recall.
A model of good sportsmanship!! As a proud Hoser, however, I feel compelled to point out that, as the U.S. has 10 times the population to draw from, and more than 12 times the financial resources for training (as of 2019), I think it says something for Canadian grit that the U.S. only has 5 times the medals! ;D Nevertheless, it's good that we have you 2 guys to help keep up good neighbourly relations across the 49th parallel.
The U.S. in the 2020 Olympics has 52 Medals: 19 Gold, 20 Silver, and 13 Bronze.
Canada in the 2020 Olympics has 13 medals: 3 Gold, 4 Silver, and 6 Bronze.
bet you two are happy the border is opened back up. love your channel, keep em coming. hugs
"Ughhh, it's so heavy with flavour" hahaha
I've heard A&W has different menu's in Canada and the US, and their root beer's use different formulas. they are also separate companies corporate wise.
You heard correctly, at least for the menu as I'm not sure about the root beer being different. A&W Canada kept the burger family motif that disappeared in the US for some reason. Plus Canadian A&W has my second-favourite burger of all time (close behind fellow the burgers from Canadian chain Harvey's), the Mozza Burger.
You two are a bunch of knuckle heads !! / luv this content & thanx
Don't forget a lot of those IS teams have Canadian and European hockey players!
You guys should live stream part of your reunion
😂That would be pretty great eh
Put a hockey stick and a net and we will win for sure Go Canada.
Joe, it's Penny Oleksiak-you said Olesiak, speaking from an Oleksiak in USA. Mary Jane Oleksiak Allen. Another great video guys but I think you both need to get your skates ready for the Winter Olympics,( keep your stick on the ice) Go,USA.
an 'in person' rematch.....PLEASE!! 🤗
Agreed.
there couldn't be a more fitting ending, ends in a tie.
Joseph FTW!
Rematch in person and as much as I love ya Joseph, I think Jason has a hair more speed. His foot was past the line, yours was on it
Hahahaha - you guys are so funny. Joe I hate to say but it almost looks like Jason may have beat you - by a 1/10th of a second. No matter as y'all are friends anyway and on the rematch it will be like what I have always said to my daughter when playing a team that seems to be superior - "on any given Sunday, you can be the winner". Cheers guys. Love the channel.
Joe: It looks like you have a great forehand in Table Tennis. Have you played that sport competitively? I coach TT. Nice video - love it.
I do! I’ve been in sanctioned tournaments. Haven’t played in over a year though club has been closed here. Miss it. Gotta get training my arms are weak 😂
@@JosephD We weren't quite shut down up here in Yukon, but we certainly had playing time reduced. Maybe a Butterfly robot is an answer. Thanks keep up the comparisons - you guys are great.
Is this the RUclips Olympics? Both are winners in my book.
Take care, and all the best.
RUclips Olympics...I like that!
Thanks for the giggles!!! Canada all the way! Proud Ontarian!! Hope to see you two "together" soon, as loing as everyone safe from the virus!!!
Hahaha Joseph!!
Tied!!
100 Meter dash! Hell, I use to get lapped when I ran that in high school!
Oh that's funny. I may have to steal that.
Looking for the site to order tshirts ,thank you.
Go to usvscanada.com
Oh the buuurn from the states of our roads in Quebec. 😅😬
Always love watching your videos!
Looking forward to seeing your reunion once the borders reopen!
Omg border openingggggg Jason can come
If you both win, do you share the medal like a pizza (half/half)?
They probably share the chocolate inside.
Add up Olympic medals according to percentage of the population.
I’ve never heard anyone pronounce the name Millar the way you did 😂
I’m getn roasted for this 😂. It’s cuz I called his farm and the woman corrected me. Unless I misheard or misunderstood, that’s why I started pronouncing it like that.
@@JosephD I did a little checking around to see if we all owed you a Big Apology but what I think happened is she perhaps wanted to point out that the final syllable is pronounced ar rather than er ( a small distinction) . Even the CBC pronounced it with an er ending.
The last syllable should be not be stressed. You would still put the emphasis on the first syllable but I can imagine her saying to you, “Its not Mill ER, it’s Mill AR” hence your understanding.
Let's not forget Big Ben, the true Olympic hero.
Lol that tie was tough. I was rooting so much, so ill definately watch that meet up race. Canada do your acrobatics and morning runs then a lunch run, before dinner run, yoga and stretching. Then well definately win hopefully. :P
America can sleep in...i mean preserve your energy for the race.
The population of the US is 7.8 times larger than the Canadian population. So you need to take whatever Medals you in and divide them by 7.8
Okay comparing 300 mil population compared to 30 mil ...
So not surprised about the hockey facts. The only reason the teams do well in the NHL is because they have so few Americans on those winning teams. 😂
Yep so true!
"you get to do a victory lap" lol. Better start training Joe. Our American friends will be able to visit us soon :)
Too funny
