This video should be mandatory viewing for junior hockey players. Brady - awesome job. We never crossed paths but we have mutual friends that went to Riverside. You're a great role model for kids
As a hockey grampa, I say thank you. Thank God the 'good old days' when everyone covered up their struggles are gone. Keep putting one foot in front of the other.
😢 Thank You I needed this. I’m a black Hockey player . I wanna be the best me as possible every-time i go on the ice . 🥹 crying for real. I need the confidence. I’m 29 and just starting out .
I’m so proud to say I know you. There’s not a lot of people like you. You’re a pioneer. Raising awareness in several aspects is beyond amazing. Your story makes me emotional every time I watch it. Beautiful story. Beautiful future ahead for you!!! ❤
Brady is one of the only athletes out there helping people by telling his story of his addictions. esp being a recovering addict myself I can honestly say I love hearing ppl tell their stories cuz of the realness of it,athletes and celebrities are humans like us.
Brady's unwavering determination to overcome addiction and confront his mental health challenges is truly inspiring. His journey serves as a powerful reminder that with perseverance and courage, we can overcome any obstacle that comes our way. Brady, you are an inspiration to us all and we look forward to witnessing the great things that lie ahead for you.
Brady, thanks for sharing your story. Takes a strong adult to be vulnerable like that. Sam Gagner is a real homie too. You can tell yall care about each other. Friendship, love, and hockey. 🤙
All the best to you, Brady! Thank you for all you do for your fellow hockey players, to bring awareness and support for mental health in sport. Hang on tight and keep fighting!!
Courage and strength are traits often exhibited by those who have no other option. What an inspiring story Brady. You will face many more challenges, including the temptation of addiction again, but with hard work and a supportive family/community network, you can do this. You are worth it and so loved by many.
Never heard of this guy but what an incredible story. God bless this man and all who support him. All of you reading this comment; take care of yourself mentally and physically. Your special and deserve the best in life. Love one another. There's no greater gift.
Thank you for sharing your story Brady. Real (and difficult) stories like this are needed in order to grow today's game, coaches, players and parents. Powerful stuff.
Listening to your story was not only enlightening but also deeply moving. It takes immense strength and bravery to come forward and speak about personal challenges, and your sincerity and openness have left a lasting impression on me. Your message resonated loudly and clearly, and I want to you to know the impact it has had on my understanding and perspective of mental health.
This video of you just came up out of nowhere wen I was watching game highlights & I stopped & gave you my full attention. YOU ARE A BLESSING TO ALL! I cannot thank you enough for sharing your journey & I will definitely be supporting Puck Support. Thankyou for your courage & for being the best Dad, partner & support for hockey players everywhere. God Bless you & your family Brady Leavold.🙏❤️
I commend you, Brady! The generosity and bravery of sharing your experiences is immeasurable! Kudos to Sportsnet for producing this piece and hats off to the crew 👍
Hey Brady, this truly hit home with me. I never was close to being a professional athlete, but I was a product of a broken home(a lot of people have the same) I was between being out on the streets at 15, then was taken to go live with my father, but never wanted to be there. I came back to my hometown, was plunging golf balls when I got that same little angel on my shoulder, it led me to my wife and beautiful family. Just know this brady, you deserve everything u have and more.
Great inspiration and strength to share your story! Also great to see that you acknowledged that many of your choices were your own even if you had a rough start. Stay strong!
Keep doing what you’re doing. I’ve been through this. I had a great psychiatrist in Dauphin Manitoba who gave me some profound wisdom. He told me that I’d only be able to do three things in my life. Think, feel and act. Think rationally and honestly. Act upon the thoughts with all of your will and resolve. Feel the positive emotions that result
Watching from the rink and long overdue to see this. You are such an inspiration to young kids to speak up and be open about struggles. Well done. I'll continue to follow and cheer you on.
Thanks a lot for sharing your life story keep up the hard work man as an alcoholic I get how hard it is to stop. When u deal with the bs from the past an just face it you always feel better, thanks SN great work👍 🍁💯
3 minutes in, and I'm not entirely sure where this is going. But, for anyone who doesn't truly know hockey culture... it is without a doubt the most toxic sports culture in all of sports.
Kinda strange/concerning that therapy is not more of a central theme in this video. All respect to Leavold, the person, not necessarily the hockey player, but the message seems a little off in this video. For instance, Boogard absolutely lost his life becasue of fighting in the NHL. Brain trauma and then addiction to pain pills was ABSOLUTELY a direct result to fighting in the NHL.
Doesn’t seem like he’s in that mindset in the present. He was sharing the mindset of someone who is dealing with addiction. Fighting those thoughts is a lifelong battle. You clearly don’t know anyone who has truly been through that, so good for you, keep you opinion to yourself
Brady, proud to be included in your Hockey Day in Canada story. Keep up the great message pal!
Kyper
Thanks so much man means the world to me

Atta be Brady 🙌

Umm, it’s definitely bad, but I’d argue there are more toxic sports cultures out there like football and mma.
whys he leave his helmet on?
With no welfare payments all those people don’t stand a chance unfortunately 😢

;)
I thank you for your story and appreciate you! But I do think being the in a constant victim mentality is only a problem that you can correct. 🤷♂️

Not sure where you’re getting that opinion from. He seems pretty accountable for his decisions and lifestyle.
You couldn’t have lasted one minute in my life …. You think I’m weak? 😅 people like you are what’s wrong with this world
