Damn! This is why I'm glad I did my Let's Play before the 1.25 patch, because at least back then I had the LP Toss glitch. I did the new version of the fight with a maxed-out party on New Game Plus, and I feel like I should probably upload my saves somewhere as a public service to anyone thinking of trying this themselves.
I like the idea that the golden alpaca is considered ridiculous in this reality, but in other dimensions could be seen as incredibly menacing. Too bad they weren't very tasteful with their approach
There was nothing wrong with the "approach" of this scene. There's a tonal whiplash because of who is telling the story, which is Alex, who doesn't actually care about anyone but himself.
I never had issues with this scene. It's like LISA the painful, a tragedy can occur but the world goes on and silly shit happens in juxtaposition of what just happened prior.
Why do all of your attacks fucking suck and deal like no damage while it's constantly spawning extra enemies that seem like you need a specific character's skill to remove, meaning she has no other use besides destroying these specific enemies???? Oh, right. The game is ass.
I actually already did it, the LP finished up a few months ago. The answer is that sometimes, when you're coming off a year-long LP of a mediocre JRPG, you need something where you can wake up in the morning and say "at least I'm not Alex".
I remember when the creator compared his game to a Chuck Palahniuk novel on the Dick Show. I mean, sure, I have no problem with him defending this game to some degree, but trying to compare to the likes of “Fight Club”? That is some weapons grade delusion right there.
The presentation of this scene looks better in the new one, but I still don't like how they tried to make the Golden Alpaca fight grittier in the new scene and how they basically dropped the subtlety of the story. I don't think it ever needed to be stated WHY the Golden Alpaca was going after the party, for one. Most of the update is an improvement but this is one change that I find it hard to get over.
See guys if you complain about this stuff, you get to suck the fun right out of it. You cannot argue this is any worse than the current version. Nothing about it, the music, the pacing, the very obviously meant tonal shift, it's charm, it's all just lost and objectively so much worse than the original.

The problem with this one is the bizzare shift in tone. It was intentional but not very good. The new version keeps the tone but makes it too serious.
