Congrats on your youtube milestone, Wade. That's a special bottle, used appropriately to mark your birthday. When I turned 50 I toasted with two 25 year olds, but they were low ABV with E150a. I should have gone with one very good CS 25 year old.
Thank you mate! I definitely couldn't afford a 40 year old bottle, but very happy with my celebration bottle that I got to share with my loved ones 😊
What were the 25's you chose to celebrate with?
@@McIntyresMalts They were: Glenfarclas 25 YO - good stuff, just a bit weak - and “Glen Marnoch” 25 YO Highland (Aldi brand; probably Fettercairn or maybe Dalmore; ex-Bourbon) - tasted OK, cost AUD$99.99].

I know you said it was more of an accompaniment , but I’m still surprised there was even that much peat present at 25 years. I wonder at what age statement a Laphroaig would taste completely unpeated

I don’t know of if I’d ever want a fully non peated Laphroaig tbh, but the ratio shift in this older bottling of less peat and more spirit character is lovely

Wade, did the peat smoke dissipate with an extra 15 years in the cask compared to the 10
Yes it really does quite a lot! It's lesser, but also different, shifting from a medicinal peatiness to more of a campfire smoke. It's really interesting.
