- Episode 597. Càirdeas 2024 is a blend of the 2019 Triple Wood and the 2021 PX casks. Eary sip here, but if you enjoy the sweet malt with medicinal peat of Laphroaig with dark fruit and oak, this is a must buy. I am really enjoying this pour. As for the 10 year Cask Strength? Always a good idea. Cheers! #laphroaig #Càirdeas #whiskyneighbour

Cheers Jon, just doing some due diligence, nice review, I'll feel a bit easier handing over my hard earned housekeeping savings.😊
Lol! These were great!
Haven't gotten the chance to get the 2024 yet, and I'm definitely ready for it now. Great breakdown, Jon.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
Now this is what I call a war, wow! I actually really like the look of this release because I love the triple wood which I think is 48% so this is a slightly older, slightly higher proofed combination of the triple wood and PX so almost certainly a better bottling of the two beforehand and since the triple wood is discontinued it makes this even more special, cheers!
Early thoughts, but this is going to be one of the best whiskies in the nook this year!
@@WhiskyNeighbour I bet, enjoy it!
Nice one Jon, excited to try the 2024 Cairdeas soon!
Thanks, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
@@WhiskyNeighbour It's Laphroaig, it's almost certain I will!!
Thanks Jon. I have the 2022 and the 2023. Two very different pours, but I like both. Riding on your coat tails, the 2022 and 2023 are mood pours for me. I'm somewhat new to peat and I'm enjoying the journey. Slàinte Mhath!
It is wonderful to have good Scotch to match a mood. Cheers!
Team Cairdeas! Definitely next to buy, when we finally see it.
This is a great dram!
WOW, where do you even start? Cheers, to James! 🥃😊🥃
Only reach for Laphroaig rarely. Potent stuff. Still nursing an old bottle of the QC from about nine years ago.
Honestly, I keep forgetting that it's sitting about patiently waiting to be noticed.
I have heard good things about the Cairdeas, will definitely try it at some stage.
Okay, now you've got me thinking 🧐 Tonight's dram to be dusted off...
Here's to all those heavy smokers (so to speak).
Have a fantastic evening Jon!

Definately raise a glass to James and good friends! This one is exceptional. I wonder what you'll chose tonight!
@@WhiskyNeighbour It's entirely possible that the power of suggestion might hold some sway over that choice! 😜
Super jealous that you got a bottle of this already! It sounds like you really enjoyed this dram. Going to need to grab this bomb when the opportunity presents itself. Cheers Jon to another great review.
Ps...Happy Ardbeg Day lol.
I just heard that! It's on my calendar even. Oh well, this is good Scotch, and I'm happy to have some. Thanks for dropping in!
Hello Jon! I think this is a perfect review on Cairdeas 2024. I really like this year’s Cairdeas since it’s not too sweet and it is delivering well balanced flavor. I love the smell. I remember it was like Christmas ham with cloves. For me the first palate is gentle and the flavor grows bigger and bigger and end with the finish of sweet ginger spice. Very moreish indeed. Slàinte Mhaith sir 🥃.
It was a wonderful first dram, I look forward to trying it again tomorrow. Excellent to shoot with the CS 10 as well. Thank you!
Nice review! I was wondering how it compares to the 2021 PX edition. I missed that one and have heard great things about it.
Though, though call. I wish I still had some of that PX kicking around to do a direct comparison. This one is a little fuller and maybe a bit more dark or charred oak. There is the PX in here, but maybe the extra age brings some of that?
In moderation!
Always, if I implied otherwise, not what I meant!
No not at all! I always appreciate your view on moderation Jon!
@@christinecamley Thanks. Good to have friends to remind us though if we have said or done anything else.
I love this year’s Cairdeas! These are all terrific. I think it’s Ardbeg Day too which I prefer but all peated scotch is a delight! Cheers!
Nooo, is it really?! Agh. Oh well, sometimes it's OK to go against the flow. Cheers!
lol!! It’s all good! It’s hard to cover everything! Loved your video!
@@christinecamley Thanks. Usually I do an Ardbeg, but I guess I missed this year.
