You know what, I’m not a doctor and I don’t have a high intensity job but I do have problems that make high intensity workouts nearly impossible. I don’t have the ability to do 30 minutes of HIIT or 45 minutes of weight training a day. It’s nice to finally hear somebody say that other kind of movement is acceptable. All you hear now is how lazy you must be for not doing your daily workout. Thank you :)
get your thyroid checked!!!!!!!!!!!!! my energy levels were horrible even doing everything like sleeping and eating well. turns out my thyroid hormones is soooo low
My takeaways: EXERCISE 1. Time thief: use time you're going to spend anyway and incorporate movement into it 2. Ants in your pants: squeeze in tiny amounts of movement, even fifteen minutes will make a difference 3. Anti-apple watch principle: exercise is not just about the calories! There's so many other benefits to it. The best movement that you can do, is the movement that you can stick to. FOOD Nothing good comes from feeling bad in your own body Balance not only for nutrients, but for satisfaction Don't think all or nothing, you can balance traditionally unhealthy foods with healthy foods WELLBEING 7. The Gold Star: reward yourself for good habits 9. The Gratitude GC: Daily gratitude is proven to improve your mental health, find a way to implement it into your life (even if journalling isn't your thing) Emotional awareness is key to understanding why you're not sticking to your habits.
Love fitness content from doctors!❤ Exercise and taking care of health/ well-being is the only thing that really changes A LOT. If I have a short workout before my shift (even 24h one) I have way better energy throughout the day. And of course - rational eating choices…😂 sometimes a cuppa and a biscuit is just food for soul🙏
I’ve never heard the term sensory satisfaction but it perfectly describes what I have. Thank you for this video, it’s one of the best ones I’ve ever seen and will hopefully help me as a very busy, overweight binger xx
'it will save you years in the long run because you will be adding years onto your life expectancy' haha i love you faye, keeping the humour in a very informative video as always
Busy RN here. I love how you implemented the magic stars into your yogurt and fruit! I've always told myself that if I eat what is good for me first, if I am still craving the bad stuff then I can have it. I love your method as it would curb my craving while adding protein or healthy aspects to provide satiety. Thank you! This is my 1st video from you that I have watched and now I have subscribed.
Also Netherlands is super flat, is really nice to be able to cycle anywhere 😊 in England not that easy, but now it is becoming more of a thing and some cycle lanes started appearing! But not the same as cycling in the Netherlands (talking from experience)
@@KrumperFiokasI live in Cambridge in the UK, it’s very flat in Cambridgeshire and there are SO many cyclists here! Still congested with cars though unfortunately.
American in TX here... cycling and walking are asking to get hit by a car. It sucks. As someone who grew up in Japan and would walk or bike everywhere and was super slender because of it... its been rough forcing myself to workout when I'm so used to it being just the norm every day going a to b
amazing video!! just realized that if you can work 14+ hours a day, i can definately study for 5+ hours no matter how much i tell myself it's not sustainable
omg faye this is so relatable. i'm a vet student and i am very busy and my mental health also isn't the best. this has lead to me gainig 10kg since the beginning of vet school and i am starting to escape the binge - restrict - cycle just now. thank you for this.
Thank you for this video. I’m a nurse and do 12 hour shifts. It is very exhausting. Before becoming a nurse I was going to the gym more often, and usually in there for 1.5 to 2 hours total, doing both heavy weights and cardio. After my workouts, I’d basically be too tired to do anything else for the day. But now with my career, it is SO hard to sustain that. My career is way too tiring for that. Now I’ve realized that you don’t have to do heavy weights or intense cardio to be healthy. I used to also be like “well if I can’t fully push myself, I might as well not work out at all”. Now I’ve realized that ANY movement is better than just sitting at home all day. Even if it is lower impact and less time. I’ve been enjoying going easier on myself. Instead of spending 2hrs at the gym, I do a 50min Lagree class. I like it because I still push myself, but it’s never too much. I also do jogging in my neighborhood, but if I’m too tired then I will walk instead. This has been more sustainable for me. Turns out you don’t HAVE to practically kill yourself in your workouts to be healthy!😅
Yes. This is very true! My dad has been a powerlifter since his late teens (now 51 years young), he’s won a ton of lifting competitions and he will tell you that you do not need to spend hours in gym. He actually advises against because it’s too hard on our bodies and will wear your body out early and cause injuries. He says one hour is more than enough but he usually is done around 40-45 minutes.
Thank you for typing out my exact same life struggles so I don’t have to lol. Sincerely, a Nurse that also works 12 hour shifts (often 4-5 shifts/wk) and used to kill it with exercise before my career started.
I live in a city and I will decide whether to walk to my errands or take the bus based on how much I’ve exercised that day, and it’s great! It always feels great to walk and listen to a podcast or music and know I’ve gotten my errands done *and* my exercise!
(I am first and foremost absolutely no expert or pro, as I’ve literally only journal consistently for three times now, but…) In regards to journaling, I could never really stick to it and also was always struggling with what to write etc. But I’ve recently started doing it once a week, as a way to reflect on the week etc. and I’ve created a template with prompts you could say and it’s been great so far. Really lowered the expectation bar for myself.

I needed this video! Always in the mind set that if I’m not sweating I’m not exercising. So when you say just moving like walking if good had literally made me think how many times I laid in bed and I could of went for a walk or done yoga and just moving yet I don’t because I think I need to do a HIIT work out which I hateeee.
I was watching my sister‘s big dog for a couple of weeks which meant walking three times a day for a total of 3h and for the first time I actually started craving exercise. I always thought that was just smth fit people say, but holy moly I was exercising every day and enjoying it too like ??? Yeah so just walking helped a tremendous amount

Best fitness/health advice I've seen online! As someone who majored in nutrition and aimed to become a personal nutritionist, this advice is the best anyone could take. Too many fad diets and conflicting information online, and the truth about healthy living is usually just using common sense and long term lifestyle changes! :D thanks for being honest and informative to your audience
I really can not fathom how someone could work 100 hours a week 😳 with 8 hours of sleep and even just 2 hours time a day for cooking, cleaning, showering, seeing friends and family, working out and doing things for fun or resting to stay mentally sane that would only leave 98 hours…
🚴♀ I love how Fay emphasizes integrating movement into daily life, like cycling to work. It's a brilliant reminder that every bit of activity counts and can fit seamlessly into a busy schedule!
I find having ADHD means I can sometimes go too long without eating and then I’ll crave maccies/other junk because I forgot to eat and then end up binging because the self control has gone by that point 🤣
love the video, could you touch on your fitness routine as a student in the past, i think it'll be a big help to students like me tryna balance school, exams and being healthy x
I really enjoyed this video. I am however in eating disorder recovery and I’d like to make a little nitpick. I think it would be better to move away from value judgements on food. Good food, bad food, healthy food, unhealthy food. Terms like nutritional density are less triggering for me and many people struggling with disordered eating.
Not nit picky at all - your experiences are a really important insight and consideration that I should’ve made. I really appreciate this feedback and thank you for letting me know for future 🤍

First of all if you work 100h a week (circa 13h a day) you should think of working less.... i am sorry for you if you spend these 3 hours except sleeping and working on working out
No offense, but you say you don't exercise every day well I'm guessing you must walk a minimum of , 20/30000+steps a day on the wards/A,E which is much more than 90% of the population. Also couldn't agree more on the veg chopper.Game Changer.
Doctors only walk in the morning for ward rounds . Most midday from Afternoon is infront of a computer screen in doctors office . Unfortunately we don’t get the steps we need . Maybe nurses do .
@@pgee-1969 Yeah always really busy is Faye in A&E? She might get more steps in there but the wards usually you wouldn’t get as many steps despite feeling like you were running around all day .
i would definitely get into cycling to uni if we had lockers and (clean) showers 🥲 it would be the most efficient, healthy and sustainable thing to do but i just cannot imagine staying in my sweaty workout clothes all day so i'll keep on relying on buses ig

Yess 100 hours a week is not sustainable in long term and to me as a finnish doctor that sounds crazy. I work about 40 h a week
No career is worth giving your whole life to😢
Hahaha talk to me if/when you have 2 kids. Otherwise, I think my "excuse" is pretty good.
Wait the photo you showed.. u think that is overweight!??😮😢😅
I guess there's a chance it actually wss considered as being overweight if you look e.g. at the BMI 🤷♀️
💪😊
that overweight pic was hottt
Did you say - you just 'resided myself to this'?
Cycling is sexy
🥰🥰🥰🥰
No offense, but you say you don't exercise every day well I'm guessing you must walk a minimum of , 20/30000+steps a day on the wards/A,E which is much more than 90% of the population.
Also couldn't agree more on the veg chopper.Game Changer.
Doctors only walk in the morning for ward rounds . Most midday from Afternoon is infront of a computer screen in doctors office . Unfortunately we don’t get the steps we need . Maybe nurses do .
Ok , obviously you no more about it than me , but wouldn't A/E be extremely busy though especially nowadays.
@@pgee-1969 Yeah always really busy is Faye in A&E? She might get more steps in there but the wards usually you wouldn’t get as many steps despite feeling like you were running around all day .
Ok👍 thanks for the reply
i would definitely get into cycling to uni if we had lockers and (clean) showers 🥲 it would be the most efficient, healthy and sustainable thing to do but i just cannot imagine staying in my sweaty workout clothes all day so i'll keep on relying on buses ig
