This old guy in front and his friend in the silver Ford decided to hold up hundreds of other road users because they missed the gantry signs changing from "lane closed" to lane open 40MPH .
No amount of pleading & reasoning with either of them would get them to move over until they finally saw the next gantry sign.

The merge in turn rule seems to have been replaced by an unwritten sheeple rule of dive into lane one and form one giant single lane queue at the earliest opportunity. I ALWAYS take the line of least resistance and in this instance apply merge in turn- as it says in the Highway Code. These blockers are ignorant idiots .

To all Johnny foreigner's, you drive in the left hand lane which was empty. NOT the right hand lane. Right hand lane is an overtaking lane.
Nobody takes any notice any more mate. I drove from Manchester to Sheffield the other week. I set off at 11pm. I was the only car to use lane 1. Everyone else just lingered in lanes 2,3 & 4 despite lane 1 being clear. I just undertake the wankers.
Pass the footage to the police and have them both done for causing an obstruction. 10 points and a hefty fine will sort them both out.

Some guy with out of state plates trying to play highway patrol and the dude behind him straight up rammed into the back of his car several times then sped off, didn’t even give a shit lmao I applaud this level of patience

When one lane is closed like this it actually lets more traffic through to queue using all available lanes and zipper merge at the point where the lane is closed. This is actually the enforced policy in some countries. Unfortunately, in the UK you’re considered an arsehole for using a lane that’s going to be closed in 3 miles.
It's the same in America. A lane was closed ahead and a semi started driving in the middle to block the two lanes so no one could pass. I got his registration number and called his company. Hopefully he lost his job.

Bingo. The end result for people who don't get over when the signs start saying in my area is simple. People who don't get over during the "zipper" zone, they end up sitting still some nice person lets them in. I've been in both situations. Mostly, it's the big trucks in the USA that do this but I normally pace the big rigs, hagging off it's rear corner. All they are trying to do is get people to merge and keep everything moving, but many don't and wait till they get to the end and try to FORCE their way into traffic. I leave enough room in front of me so when the big truck has to get over, he's got a spot. Oh, and on most days, I'm not in a nice mood so if you are one of those who wait to the last minute to cut over, good luck, I don't move. :-) Cheers.

It said it was open on the last overhead gantry. In any case, even when it says that the lane closes in 2 miles, people moving over straight away is their choice. There is no legal obligation to do so.
If everybody started moving over asap witgin those two miles traffic would flow better instead of causing a bottleneck whete the lane closes so ppl like this who block ppl like you are fantastic. Suck it up ya lil tart 😂

The law shits on people and calls it justice. Violence is the only solution in many things as it focuses the mind of offenders. Public lashings have a positive effect on people like that. It more effective, quick and cheap and reduces road rage in others as the offending individual gets a good smack that puts them back on track.

He is preventing the creation of a third lane AHEAD of him, if he allows people to ignore the signs and obvious line of traffic, having already merged politely and waiting their turn for traffic to move on smoothly. Those wanting to drive in that third lane will only complicate the traffic be repeating the merge process with the impatient ones cutting into line from behind. RUDE behavior begets rude behavior.

I hope you made a formal complaint to police, this is the most blatant case of inconsiderate driving I have ever seen and I could feel my blood boiling just watching the video. The AA actually advises motorists not to pull over too early when there is advance warning of lane closures ahead, as all it does is creates longer tailbacks. These two motorists should be named and shamed
We once saw the police pull over a truck driver for hogging two lanes to stop traffic passing him in a queue like this. Their view was that the road is open as far as the obstruction so use it then merge in turn at the obstruction.
Had this happen to me on me on the A303 about week ago. Some vigilantes can't stand that people know how to drive in traffic and they don't.

If you're not the police, don't try to be the fucking police. 3. If you can't handle the anxiety of waiting until the end and want to get into the left lane early, you are the selfish one, and also a coward. You should salute the bravery of those willing to take on the challenge.

Surely having a single line of traffic at the bottleneck will mean cars pass through there quicker. It also shares the waiting time equally amongst all the drivers rather than queue jumpers getting through quicker.

If the que is coming to a merge, then the guys slipping by on the right lane would be the guys rolling up to the front and diving in at the last minute, when there's a line of people neatly in order waiting patiently and FAIRLY for their turn. These are LINE CUTTERS and every one of them you see go past, is cutting into line in FRONT of you, because idiots give them room to do just that. These guys are doing the Lord's work.

@@bobbysolo5411 You're actually wrong on both counts. Firstly, that's not what is happening in this video. There's no merge further up. That's not the scenario here. Secondly, even if it was the scenario, you're actually supposed to use ALL available lanes RIGHT UP TO THE POINT OF MERGE. At that point, cars are supposed to take it in turn to merge (i.e. each car lets one car in). If you don't believe me look it up on youtube, theres a million videos from driving instructors, DVLA etc explaining this is what you're supposed to. It's the people who queue far too early instead of using all lanes who are doing the wrong thing, making traffic slower, and causing tailbacks to go back much further than they need to be (thus causing jams further up the motorway that needn't be there).

I've had this with someone. Whenever I overtook him, he couldn't take it for some reason and was speeding when he got around me again. I like to troll people so I followed him for a bit and saw there was police and he immitiatly let go of the gas. That's where I got to troll him by pretending im a police officer ( in an undercover car ) and kept on staying behind him. You could tell he was getting nervous. It was hilarious.

Because there's a junction which they're probably taking, which is probably busy hence the queue in those lanes. Using the two right hand lanes in front of the dickhead in the Kia would mean they're in the wrong lane for their junction. Whereas the cars he was blocking weren't using the junction. Hence why they weren't joining the queue.

He thought those people were all queue jumping and decided to act like a spoiled child and cut them off to force them to move over.
I admit line jumpers piss me off, but they weren’t line jumping and you should never act that way no matter how angry you are.

What a pair of plums. Even if an overhead gantry displays a lane closure, it is only an advance warning that the lane ahead is closed. The highway code says you should use the available lane space and perform a merge in turn at the point the number of lanes reduces. If a driver MUST change lanes due to a lane closure there will be a diagonal arrow pointing down to the left or right

From the subsequent video we saw there was no reason for any closure of that lane. It's not unusual for signage to be to be incorrect or out of date. Happens a lot.

Those two lanes were closed at one point, but when the guy filming went through you could see that all the lanes were now open! The two drivers blocking the lanes thought they were being do gooders! Even if the lanes are closed they still don't have the right to do that! Those using the lanes will just get done!

For those that have a hard time with the reading and understanding: The lane was closed, but due to traffic it was opened up. That guy went through when it was closed and is too stupid to realize that the lanes can open after he has passed through them, without neither his knowledge or consent.
