Nice video. Alittle help when adding silicone to seal is I took a q-tip, break then cotton end off and it makes it a tad easier to get around/tuck the silicone into the tighter areas around the clips. When ever I install new head / tailights I go over them with silicone before the install because of the manufacturing process they seem to always have a default in sealing and will eventually leak. Nice color of a truck you picked out 👍
I had the same problem thank you. I wish I had those kinda lights. Mine had that weird lens in the head light. Then the hole at the buttons. It worked perfect with the hair dryer
Russell Devane ok awesome glad I could help and mine fogged up the next day then a day or 2 later it was all clear and fine but idk they do stupid stuff like this
Let's say I wanna open up the headlights later for halos or something...would using silicone make it harder for the baking process for opening them up later?
Not covered under the extended warranty I paid $3200 for and my Chrysler dealer said the only fix was to replace the headlamp assembly. $724 for the part! I declined and started researching. Thanks!
Thanks for the info! I went to get my 2015 Ram inspected and they will not inspect it if there is moister in the headlamps. This will save me around 600 bucks. Thanks again.
I have a 2016 and you really dont need to take the grille off...all you need is an extension on your ten mm socket. to put it back down in the well, put electrical tape on the head of the bolt. That way it stays on the socket as you lower the bolt down.
electrical tape on head of bolt? Just take a piece of a shop towel and lay it across the 10mm socket, JAM the bolt into the shop towel and into the socket. Good luck getting the bolt out of the socket, unless its threading into something! Your welcome fellow techs!
Nice video. I have something to add as I did this exact same thing to my left headlight 3 years ago on my 2014 Ram 2500. Only the left, strange. I am currently drying it again with the hairdryer. I cant find any gap in my silicone so i am drying it out and going to toss a dessicant pack in there like I did last time. I cant say how effective the Dessicant is but I don't think it hurts. Dropping pack next to turn signal bulb area keeps it away from wiring and bulb. My left tail light has same vapor problem also.
i just took my passenger side aftermarket one out for 3rd time, siliconed everything gaskets and all and put stock vent caps which have a membrane in them on, noticed the top vent really doesn’t go anywhere, so drilled a hole in housing close to the upper vent wish me luck 🤞
It’s the blocked vents on the rear of the headlight assembly! It’s not the perimeter seal. Adjust your vents and your problem will disappear. The silicone was not necessary.
As far as info the video was good. Next time you make a RUclips video and add music, lower your volume level when you insert it in your video. When your music kicks in, it is way to loud and very annoying. Blows you away when it comes on. It woke my uncle Gary up. He died 2 yeara ago....
@@HoldenPowell_ eh it's alright still looks pretty clean. It took me a long time because they had about half a cup of water inside, it would kill me to put water back in 😂
That’s cool but it only takes me like 3 minutes to pop the grill out and then I don’t have to worry about getting the headlight out around the grill or accidentally scratching the grill while taking the headlight out but good to know u can get it out without halfening to if u didn’t want to

Did you clean the vents on your headlight to stop it from happening again?
Did you check the vents? Make sure they're clean and clear
Holy buckets this saved me so much money!! Thank you very much!!
Awesome I’m so glad to hear that!!
Great work and video thank you. Mine is doing the same thing. Will fix up her this weekend.

@@HoldenPowell_ please tell us is it still good till now? Or do you have the same problem again?
Awesome fix! I’ll try that on mine. Thanks! 👍🏼
Let's say I wanna open up the headlights later for halos or something...would using silicone make it harder for the baking process for opening them up later?
Yes it would, but me atleast wouldn’t do that to the factory ones, I’d buy an aftermarket set and do that to.

Same here, called for the exact thing today, no extended coverage on headlights, as always parts that go wrong they don’t cover, garbage warranty

That sounds like a little bit of a pain but ok thanks
HP Custom Sparks Less of a pain than taking the entire grill off.

Thanks and the darn Ram headlights
I feel like we’re just better to get aftermarket ones, dont have to worry about leaving and it looks better lol
Agree. Honestly I would replace headlight with another Mopar headlight but afraid of ending up with exact same problem. Aftermarket probably better.
Check your vent caps, mine are brown and had one missing a gasket and full of water
When you removed the 4 screws that button down the 4 grill bolts did you have all the same bolts or were their 2 different ones
All the same
It seems to be working. Thanks for the video
Was there a reason you used a putty knife to apply the silicone rather than just using the nozzle form the RTV?
Just preference
What year is this truck? New Ram owner and I can’t tell them apart yet. I have a 2017 with water in my headlight

Yes they are!!

Yep
You never touched the vents on the back of the housing.
That's what I said

why the loud music?

Robert Kingsolver thanks for the feedback, someone else told me that so in my newer videos it’s all fixed!!
hahahahaha the ending of your comment
Better not to add music
Thank you
Fantastic
People act like 4 bolts to take the grill off is the end of the world😂😂 not that hard
Ya lol my biggest problem is where it snapped in at the bottom, I know it’s designed to do that but I’m always afraid I could or will break it lol
Now I have dirty water spots on the inside of the lense 😂
Oh 😂 just dump some clean water in their and wash it around and reset it out 😂😂
@@HoldenPowell_ eh it's alright still looks pretty clean. It took me a long time because they had about half a cup of water inside, it would kill me to put water back in 😂
Oh I see 😂
What’s the silicon name please need to do this to my headlights
I don’t remember off hand I’d just say any kind of silicone will work
Will leaving the car out in the sun do the trick? Lol
That will work for light moisture but when u start have some water in the bottom then that might not work anymore lol
.
I just removed mine without removing grill. Just need a 12" extension to get to the bottom bolt. No problem and quick.

😂@@HoldenPowell_
This is the same for all Rams this gen.
