Wow thank you so much, that's super kind of you!! I definitely spend an absurd amount of time working on the intros 😂 Spending hours figuring out how to take items out of boxes is pretty hilarious, but it's a lot of fun! Can't thank you enough for the kind comment! 😃
As a digital artist myself. i found the iPad mini to be very magical and fell in love with it when i went inside an apple store. I will wait for apple to upgrade that one
I totally know what you mean!! I've been waiting for an update to the iPad mini for ages - it's such a bummer that they haven't updated it in so long! I'm waiting as well to see when we'll get an update for the mini! I'm thinking perhaps in the fall when they usually do the iPhone updates? Thanks again for sharing your thoughts! 😃
Nice video, thanks! I'll take the iPad mini 7 with an Apple Pencil Pro. The size of a Moleskine, which is how I'll use it: a digital Moleskine for my sketches. 128 GB storage, 8GB RAM, ProCreate , faster processor and that's it. I'll take a look at you channel, seems interesting! Thanks!
Thanks so much for sharing! That would be great as I was really surprised that the new Pencil features weren't supported at launch - especially with Procreate and Dreams being featured during the Apple event. I've been checking regularly and it's still not updates, so definitely hoping maybe by WWDC/iOS 18. Thanks again for sharing! 😃
If you have the previous Pro which would be the M2 generation, you have great device. The only reason to consider upgrading would be if the new Pencil Pro features are super important to you, or the OLED screen, or any of the other items they updated - but, honestly, the iPad you already have is awesome so I'd have a hard time justifying an upgrade considering the prices. Unless any of those new features are game-changers for you, enjoy the one have - it's fantastic!
That's a great question - I honestly don't have any experience with the third party pencils so I can't' honestly speak to their quality and how well they work. Apologies I'm not more help on this one! Perhaps you could try one and see how well it works then return if there are any isues?
Excellent question, Freddy! If you specify your canvas size with pixel dimension then Procreate ignores the DPI specification (from what I can tell, it would probably be more informative if that field was just disabled in this case). If you specify the canvas size using the other measurements available (cm, inches, etc.) then increasing the DPI will reduce the number of layers available.
Thanks so much for your kind feedback! I can finally confirm that the rotate option does now work in Procreate. The new Apple Pencil Pro features are support as of version 5.3.10 😃
That's a perfectly great option, too!! I'm definitely an advocate of updating when it makes sense... I'm still happy with my m1 device and Pencil. I actually bought the iPad again after Procreate was finally updated and still didn't find it sufficiently different/better to justify the price when my device was still working fine.. Totally with you!
One thing I don’t see talk about a lot by reviewers is the fact that I can swap my iPad at Apple or resell it. I currently have the M1. I would end up having the 1TB for the exact same price I paid for my M1 two or three years ago.
Really appreciate you sharing this! I sometimes feel like their trade-in offers are low, but your right that you could resell or use the trade-in to get a better price on the new device. I'll definitely keep this in mind for the future, it's a great point! Thanks again for sharing 😃
I have not watched this video, but I am very confused as to why this video was even made as the BEST iPad for Procreate is the best iPad, the M4 iPad Pro 13". The 11" model is equally great for people on more of a budget or who find the 13" model too cumbersome, but for the best experience when using Procreate the better processor of the M4 iPad Pro means faster rendering and less lag and the real estate of the 13" is easier to work with needing less zooming in and out. Also I believe you need to have the iPad Pro in order to use the newer Pencil Pro with its upgraded features.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!! The intros are lots of fun to make, but I do sometimes laugh at myself and how long I spend just taking something out of a box 😂 Thanks again!
Yeah, I currently have an M2 iPad Pro 11.” However lost my gen 2 pencil. Now hearing pencil pro has “find my” feature on it, and the other new features….seems cool. However going to M2 air is like a downgrade. I love the OLED on M4 but hesitating……anyway, this is the best review I seen. No other reviewers mentioned, “what pencil fits your needs?” It totally changes the decision making process. 😂
Thanks so much for sharing your feedback, Briana! 😃 And so sorry that your pencil got lost - that definitely hurts! This really is where I wish they found a way to make the new one compatible with previous devices, then you could just get a new Pencil Pro and get the advantages and "find my" compatibility without having to get a whole new iPad. I totally understand where you're coming from and how going from the 11" M2 Pro to 11" M2 Air would feel like a downgrade, but those M4 Pros are also super expensive... I'm really happy that this approach was helpful and can't thank you enough for your kind feedback! 😃
The very capable M2 ipad pro is almost same specs as the new iPad M2 Air. Except the new drawing capabilities that the Air with the new Apple Pencil Pro, not going for it or the uber expensive m4 pro.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I totally, totally agree - the M2 Pro is an awesome device and I'm with you that it's really not worth the upgrade outside of some very specific use cases. The M2 Pros will be a bit harder to find new as they stop selling them and transition to the new models, but there should be refurbished options out there for a while. I think the M1 Pros are incredibly capable, too. The pricing on the Pro models really has become crazy!
I am thinking to upgrade for some reasons. First is the oled screen. I am working near a window with the iPad and it’s hard to see worth my iPad Air m1 even because my battery capacity doesn’t have energy für have 8 hours of working time. Also the sensitivity for the pencil with 5ms because quick notes are so difficult to take wenn you need so much time
@ appreciate it! I ended up putting a screen protector on it and giving it to a friend. I found a deal on 1tb iPad Pro m2 and bought it. It was like $700 off from 1700
I get people have different opinions but for me, if i wanted it to be like drawing on paper, i would just draw on paper... pressure sensitivity makes inking a lot easier for me. Gives a lot more expression to my line art and also helps when coloring as you can size up or down the brush for larger or smaller areas. You can just turn off that feature if you don't like it.
That intro was so dramatic I had to double check the channel name to see that it wasn’t actually an Apple commercial. I love it so much

Thankyou...this is a great overview and info...I will wait for procreate update to decide. Thanks
Hey Tamer.... Just giving thanks for the info!!!!
Totally my pleasure!! Thanks for the kind feedback! 😃
I occasionally beta test for Procreate and I’m pretty sure by iOS 18 that last feature you mentioned should be applicable. No promises.
Thanks so much for sharing! If I have the one just previous, Pro does the price worth to upgrade ???

@@BlackletterFoundry thanks you I really appreciate your opinion and the fact you took the time to answer me
what about a third party pencil like a targus would that work?

If I bump my dpi up to 300, from 72, Does that lower the number of max layers?
Excellent question, Freddy! what do you think about air 5 with m1? it is cheaper and have more storage and I don't care about the new pencil
If you don't care about the new Pencil Pro then any of the M1 models would still be fantastic! That's what I currently have and I find it works great!
Thanks this was really helpful.
Does anyone know if the rotate option works in procreate at the moment?
Thanks so much for your kind feedback! I can finally confirm that the rotate option does now work in Procreate. The new Apple Pencil Pro features are support as of version 5.3.10 😃
The most economical option for me is using my apple pencil 1 with ipad air m2 11, while waiting for discount or rebate for pencil pro.
That's a perfectly great option, too!! I'm definitely an advocate of updating when it makes sense... I'm still happy with my m1 device and Pencil. 60hz low refresh rate means a relative delay when using the pencil on the screen
@@silversflow4469not so noticeable in 60hz unless you draw a long line fast

actually, pressure sensitivity is only annoying to be honest.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! For art and drawing I'd find it super limiting to not have pressure sensitivity, but totally respect your opinion 😃
@@BlackletterFoundry as it's digital it's just doesn't feel the same as on paper at all.
