There's a reference to ReFantazio in SMT V. A minor character called Miyazu mentions that she had a dream in which the prince of a foreign land visited her in her dreams. Said prince traveled with a boat that flies This happens shortly before the sequence where Lahmu attacks the school.
Makes sense that some of the text posits anxiety as a good thing, considering when discussing the theme of fear Hashino mentioned how fear can be a catalyst for change and improvement as much as it can be debilitating.
Gallica is just the latin adjective that denotes "from Gaul". Gaul, of course, its the homeland of the celts who originated the core of the modern pixie/fairy myths.
Esperanto was a language the UN made to be our one world language, while aspirational it clearly failed to catch on so I think any hope of a utopian world in the game is being implied to be a failure. I also think this game will be more like DDS mixed with dressospheres, from ffx2. Akin to making a party in wizardry, classic western game the japanese really clicked with, you make your party and have fluidity by changing up classes on the fly, maybe like x2 you get abilities opened as you change so you’re incentivized to change and get new classes, or maybe the new classes are permanent options. Could even be more like ff5 and classes allow unlocks on characters but I think this game isn’t trying to be a total Persona clone and wants to screw around a bit.
Thanks for sharing your findings, Larrue. Super excited for this game -- based on all the info on it so far, it appears it will be a profound experience, to say the least.
Great vid as always Larrue, I’d been waiting for this one. The Esperanto stuff is super interesting, especially all the classes you talked about at the end. Also I live your endearingly corny sense of humor in this video, never change it 😂
The setting of Metaphor Re Fantazio is somewhat reminiscent of 1800's Europe in steampunk sauce, my hypothesis is that the setting pictures a world not yet globalised in search of globalisation, which would explain the lines in the trailers constantly referencing our world which is seen as 'ideal' by the game's protagonists and also the 'single tribe' line which is yet again another reference to globalisation resulting from the destruction of the 20th century concepts of the nation-state in favour of the new global community of which Tokyo represents the blueprint, at least in Japan. To this hypothesis we can also add the consideration that RE Fantazio's game world was indeed globalised before but following an unprecedented war a process of regression took place. The protagonist, coming into possession of a book from this old and defunct civilisation, realises that the tales of this globalising utopia are not mere stories, but rather historical testimonies, and thus makes his dream of 'returning' to this state of civilisation his own. The narrative topos of the book as a vestige of a bygone era that acts as a Trojan horse to disrupt the established order has already been seen, after all, in SMT IV with Isabeau and the manga The Roses of Versailles. The use of Esperanto (a conlang language created to facilitate communication between various languages) also underlines this 'globalisation theme'. On a gameplay stand points it is confirmed social links and social stats are a thing as well as character classes, my guess is this classes will work on the same basis of the Fire Emblem ones giving the player the ability to choose certain evolutionary paths (the 'Knight' class for example can be observed evolving into a 'Magic Knight' and a 'Paladin' thereafter.)
Good analysis! I had some observations on my own in the trailer, like I'm pretty sure the Royal Virtues are probably the social stats they show later on, Compassion and Imagination and such. Synthesis though I think will function more like Combo Skills from Digital Devil Saga, where you can use multiple press turns (or maybe even multiple half press turns) to do more powerful attacks, so the Archetype menu probably is your normal skills, while Synthesis would be the more complex ones. If that's the case then I think this battle system could be INSANE with the combinations of skills you'd be able to set up. This is definitely the most excited I've been for an Atlus game in a loooong time!
Some observations that i've made. Some of the buildings look like upside down pyramids or Ziggurats. I'm kinda thinking these five sillohettes could be a metaphor for the Nephilim, dunno I'm getting heavy Tower of Babel vibes. The Archetypes are clearly inspired by Carl Jung no surpise there. The Eyeball that appears reminds me of the all seeing eye, perhaps its gnosis or enlightenment. I'll add to the Archetypes are often patterns or personalties that pop up in stories, the Chosen one, The Mentor, the Anti Hero, The Messiah. it could fit into this story or writer thing you mentioned at the end too.
Also, look up Tarot de Marseilles tarot decks. The golden charm hanging from the cat’s neck looks like many Two of Pentacles from Tarot de Marseille decks, still widely used in Europe but not so much in the USA. On the infinity loop on those 2 of pentacles is often where the author of each unique Tarot de Marseille deck leaves his signature & the year the deck was printed, so it makes sense that it’s being worn on what resembles an animal’s collar, a tool of identification
I’ve a feeling that this game is going to be at worst a solid 8 out of 10. Too soon to say I don’t have it in my hand yet obviously, but it will be a day 1 purchase for me.
I actually deciphered the alphabet myself and was on the process of transcribing the text, i guess there's no point now? Anyway. The ie o thing in the first text... I actually think it's leo (law), the o was separated in text for some reason (that makes no sense in Esperanto) and you read l as i in caps. One thing I found on the Vitruvian man was "warlock", in plain English.
This video hyped me up more than the trailer did, fandom is a powerful thing

So you're telling me the game called Metaphor... is a METAPHOR ?? 😨
-Gulp- I guess s-so!!!

I partially blame a certain dictator for killing Esperanto
Calling it now this is my GOTY for 2024

The worst part about my humor is I make myself laugh when recording LOL
@@Larrue best part*
But seriously, feel free to laugh as much as you want on video, it only adds to the experience

I can see why so many persona youtubers quit, there's nothing to talk about
I haven't quit there's too much to talk about and I'm kinda busy lately
Followers tab in the menu are social links of this game imo.
I really like the menu but I wish Atlas would put a little more of a graphical touch on their games now. Just my opinion
I seen in another video they thought that those monsters you fight were actually the humans
Whats the song at 17:26
it's a cut song from Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne, usually people call it Sound Test
@@Larrue thanks larrue
The guy in the square platform with circles reminds me of the tarot card 4 of Disks from the Thoth Tarot deck, which represents a fortress

So, I'm guessing you've decided to cancel the SMT V Analysis video?
No

Jap games aimed at teens have had really cringe stories as of late. I hope this is the exception
