Have you sold enough so Pete can have his 64' back? That would be an awesome to see him get surprised on video.
Thanks for all the positive comments about this video - especially for the ones complimenting me on my playing. I really enjoyed the jams with Pete.
But I have to address all the “Relic Haters” & their constant knocking of anyone that likes these type of guitars. Firstly, everyone is entitled to an opinion about a guitar, but because every opinion about guitars is largely subjective, it’s kind of pointless (and often offensive) to bash someone who’s opinion is different to yours. Secondly, anyone who thinks a Fender Custom Shop Relic Guitar, is just a normal guitar with a bashed up paint finish is really showing a total lack of understanding about these guitars. These are accurate reproductions of vintage instruments, made by expert luthiers, that have that “lived in feel” - like your favourite old pair of slippers! It is not the same as buying a new car and adding dents!! By all means buy a modern poly finish guitar, play it relentlessly for 10 years & see if it starts to feel like a decent relic guitar. It won’t. It can’t. Poly finishes were designed to stay looking new. Poly is a hard wearing finish & it will not age like nitro. You can of course buy a new nitro finish guitar & play it non stop for 20 years & then you’d have your very own genuine “relic” but I can’t wait 20 years to get that guitar! Or you could just buy an original 50s or 60s guitar, but good luck finding 20-30 in your local guitar store, and get ready to remortgage your house to buy one!
Anyway - I’m not here to try & hate the haters!! I like a shiny new guitar as much as the next guy & if that’s your thing then all power to you! Just trying to throw some perspective on things & ask everyone to chill out a bit in the comments section. It’s just a bloody guitar after all! Cheers from Lee.
You tell 'em Lee!
There is also the sales point that Lee has made many times recently. The majority of people shopping for these high end fenders are buying the relics. The perfect looking NOS versions are the ones that don’t sell very well. So if you put your business hat on, what would you stock if you owned a guitar store. Also to be frank the negative comments are boring and not funny any more. We all want to read interesting and fresh perspectives in the comments section, otherwise what’s the point browsing comments. Just view a relic guitar in the same way you view different colours. It’s just a different finish...
If people knew what the actual process it takes to make guitars look like this they would look at it differently. Relic has come a long way with the style and process and I honestly consider it an art! Also, would these same people also hate on roasted woods? 🤔 because that’s technically aging. There’s functionality and practicality with relicing. The feel of the neck in your hands and the vintage look to inspire you. Some people find inspiration being alone in nature and with a beautiful scenery, and other people find inspiration with talking to people in a crowded area. Some people are inspired by a well loved guitar and others are inspired by a Dueseneberg, PRS beautiful mint condition guitar. Find what inspires you and make music!
Andertons Music Co
Hell yeah Lee, well written.
Andertons Music Co
...and one more thing don’t post something ‘sarcastic’ just to draw out people that like to go off on a rant on the topic. We might wind people up amongst friends in person, but it doesn’t work so well in print as it just hangs around like a bad smell.
Can we have a video where you both go through your own guitar collection?
I second that.
Great idea, even the first starter ones
Wow, ok, hands up who still has any of their first guitars? I still have #2, but #1 went as part of the trade to buy it! A beat-up old 1976 Ibanez Iceman, now fully restored, still loving it.
@@johnvcougar mine was a 1994 black Encore 3/4 from Argos. I still have it and it plays a lot better than it probably should!
@@joebryant8500 ha no way! I was very happy running it through a Trace Elliot bass amp with a metal zone. Weird combo but I guess it took some harsh top end off. Was years before I upgraded.
Lee has come home to where he's always belonged ... the major pentatonic.
Pete’s phrasing and tone choice is stellar as always. The real standout though was Captain’s playing. He’s gotten so much better under Pete’s guidance. Good on ya Lee!
isn´t it Justins guidance. Credit where it belongs.
Kim Hansen most definitely is. But he’s played with Pete and heard him play, a lot more though. That has definitely crept into Lee’s playing
I think it's more to do with him taking lessons with the FANTASTIC JustinGuitar. If you go to his channel you get to see their lessons together. It's actually quite amazing they are sharing it with the world.
He did do lessons with JustinGuitar, but did a few with Pete too. And you can just tell Pete’s influenced him. Pete’s influenced my cleaner playing, as well. Dude’s killer.
@@Barefoot67 They put some backing tracks on Band Camp that you can download and jam to ...
The captain’s playing has become phenomenal over the years!
Definitely improved a lot. However, when you listen to Pete play and how he gets melody and tonics you see the difference between a pro and a good home guitarist.
Lol I would say better, but not phenomenal. Anyone who plays guitar everyday play much better than that..
Katy Smith haha genius!!
God I love that Pete has his selfie with John Mayer printed on his mug
It might not be "classic" enough, but I think a relic'd British Racing Green on this would be crazy awesome.
Not relic'd. Leave the scratching to the dumb guys who would pay a thousand more to have their new car pre-vandalized and T-Cut 30 times.
i watched this with a dirty bad migraine and it was so relaxing that i almost forgot about the pain. Well done. Then i saw the price and the pain was back :-)
The Andertons gang are all so likeable and entertaining. Keep it up guys.
Except for the chapman
The guitar I can’t stop looking at is that candy apple red strat. She’s a beauty
Yeah, before im leaning to fiesta red. But now I'm totally fell in love in candy apple red!. Like a lady in red in the song Eric Clapton! 😍🤩😁
Nothing wrong with a relic.....it’s all down to personal taste. Each to their own.
Wife: Did you buy another new guitar?
Husband: No babe. Not at all... Just look at this old thing. I only paid a hundred bucks for it.
Just phony
Great intro and outro playing. MP3'ed the episode and cut out the middle to get a really nice and smooth instrumental to add to my listening tracks. Thanks!!! Also keep us posted on if you sell enough of this series to give Pete back his guitar.
Lee's playing has improved so much under Pete's tutelage. Well done! Edit: Justin's tutelage, apparently.
@@EugenernatorVideos I second this.
Justin.
He's always been good. It's just that now he's playing with someone who can keep time.
Now that I'm getting older, these relic guitars are starting to appeal to me a bit more, since I may not have enough years left to relic them by playing them :-)
Beautiful playing, both! That intro jam could be a new song on its own! Just shows really how much both of you love playing a strat!
I played my first relic Strat last week. Now it's all I can think about. The feel of that guitar was so incredible. Awesome video!
I love the videos with the two of you jamming...they bring me joy.
I believe D-Day, on June 6, 1944, is the historic reference Lee has in mind, associated with the opening of Andertons Music.
Such great and tasteful playing from both of you. That red Strat is a physical incarnation of a dream instrument! Thanks Lee and Pete.
Great playing Captain. Pete of course is beyond but you are getting there. Such a treat to observe and listen to. Relic guitars are cool🥰
The playing from both of you in that intro was delightful.
Captain, you have come a long way with your playing. It is a pleasure to watch. Please keep up the great work. Pete, I love your playing style. I love to watch you play. Thanks for all that you do.
These vids with Capt. and Pete are excellent. They really upped the game a couple years ago. Interesting and fun to watch.
Such awesome playing guys and great looking guitars as well
It might just be me, but these Pete & Cap'n jams are just about my favourite thing on youtube. They remind me why I love the guitar.
Amazing opening jam! I was zoning out and wishing that was available for purchase. Note: June 1964 was a 20th anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy on D-Day.
I’ve loved all the studio greats over the years and what marks them out is everything they play, even their noodling, is inherently melodic and just ‘right’. How many times have people listened to the likes of Larry Carlton or Jay Graydon and thought that what they played was just perfect for the part and could not be bettered? Well I always get that feeling with Pete’s playing, and he is spot on in any style, boy does he have a very big trick bag. Pete really is the complete package and it’s rubbing off on Lee too. Keep up the great work guys.
Amazing guitars ... and I can't stress it enough: Pete, you are such an amazing dude and player ... Lee, what a smart move from you, to contract him. Love you guys !
Yeah, I must agree Captain, your playing is getting better and better! Really nice jam both of you :-)
This would be an interesting thing to do with Mick Taylor's sonic blue Strat and other's who have become famous from your enterprise. Maybe one of Dan's Tele's as well. Think about it you guys may be on to something.
I would love to see a Rabea model Epi, Les Paul recreation of his new black Gibson he got at Norm's. I would guess that Bea is famous enough to yield something like this. Or maybe if he hooks up with someone huge as a hired gun on a tour like Phil X then get the model made. ???
Except that Mick has "fallen out of love" with his blue strat and is in the process of shoving in various non-Fender parts in order to like it again. This is precisely the wrong time to try to get Fender interested.
@Dictum1 He did, that was part of his attempt to "fall back in love" with the guitar (as was adding a new bridge, and block... and he is probably planning to swap out the pickups with a different set as well.
WHOS KEEPING THE SGs HOSTAGE?
VinnieSmyyth we’re waiting for some of the new SG models to arrive & then we’ll shoot those videos
Rob
They’re out back in the dumpster 🤪
I think when I save enough money I'll be calling you guys, I love the idea of relic'ing the neck and keeping the body proper for me to age myself.
Diggin the sound of these strats.and diggin the dark rw fingerboards!they look like ebony or some really old Brazilian rw.they're beautiful. You guys are awesome.lee, digging the feel of your leads.keep up the great work.pete, magic!
I would love to see some of these built with aged nickel covered PAFs. 2 volumes and a master tone. Great playing guys and beautiful strats!
I applaud you and your parents for running this shop for over 50 years and continuously growing Andertons into what it is today with you Pete chappers and rabea doing cool ass videos. Great playing by the way guys
Those are great looking and sounding guitars and the playing is SWEET from both of you. My only problem with Strats, and the reason I modded mine, is the volume knob is just too close to the strings and I was always knocking it up or down. So, I moved mine down one position, and made a master tone for everything. I superglued an extra switch tip in the old volume hole as a pinky anchor/reference element, and love it now. Also some med. jumbo stainless frets are just what mine needed.
WHOAH Pant-wettingly great playing from both you guys (that intro was luscious), but man alive Pete, never mind putting the photos on the USB stick, record your playing of the guitars!!
Great playin`, great guitars, great presentation. Thank you again.
Man pete, you were really layin down some sweet tracks for lee to pick some pretty leads to,then you finish it off with your tasty stuff.fantastic!!! #1
Listening to you two playing is always enjoyable. Best Regards
Congrats. You have taken guitars in a new direction. Specifically tooling a guitar to a set of standards with great custom sounds and playability. Pete, your a genious. Capt. thx. Player's guitar. Cheers.
Has Lee ever made a video talking about the history of Andertons? I think it'd be an interesting vid if he hasn't!
I think there’s one on NAMMs youtube channel
Strat goals for sure. Another guitar added to the wishlist
I played an original 64 strat in candy apple red last summer and it was the best guitar I’ve ever played. I might have to buy one of these custom shop strats now.
Pete plays really well. In some of the other videos as well, he has played some great tunes. 👍
So this came on autoplay and was on in the background. Got my focus at the end when I heard that playing.... might just have finally made me like strats
I really enjoyed this video and some smokin playing!
gotta say the captain's playing is very awesome here. he's getten better and better
Holy smokes I want one of these so bad! Re: The Captain on relic jobs, I have a 2006 AVRI '57 Wildwood strat. It is graaaaaadually relicing, finish is checking, a bit of wear on the fretboard. But I would need to play another 10 years at the very least to get the feel I want. I love that guitar but I absolutely want a relic-neck and I 100% agree with him. Knocking someone for one of these is like knocking someone getting a print of a painting because it isnt a real monet.
Your playing is really improving Lee! Keep at it
Lee is playing better and better...congrats man! Very nice phrases.
All these haters saying they want to relic it naturally with their own playing, blah blah blah. Good luck. First off you gotta buy a nitro finish guitar to start with and unless you’re a touring musician 10 months of the year or a guy playing non stop bar gigs 7 nights a week for decades on end, you will NEVER get your guitar to look or feel this way in your lifetime. By the time it’s finally broken in and worn out you’ll be an old man who can no longer play and actually enjoy it. So again, good luck to you relicing your guitars naturally.
Awesome playing and awesome guitars! My phone says VJ Day is the 15 August btw 🤓
Wow those are perfect. Would love to have one in purple or seafoam green
Wonderful sounding Stratocasters! I feel very fortunate to be in California when it comes to vintage Fender. I recently changed my mind about desert island guitars, the Stratocaster is the winner. Whether playing a Tele or Les Paul, I will reach a point where I wish I had my Stratocaster. Can't say I have ever felt the reverse with either guitar.
Love that tone! The white looks soo sweet too
brought lump to my throat and water to my eyes..... that is the sound of my life! miss you dad!!!
The jamming interplay here is just phenomenal!
Beautiful intro and outro jams.
Amazing work yet again. As a beginner player, I love watching these videos. They are inspiring me to pick up my guitar every time! Any word on when that Squier version of the purple Tele will be available? I just found a used Squier classic vibe custom tele but will hold off if they will be available in Canada. More within my budget than a custom shop guitar haha. Thanks!
Anybody got sone chords for the opening intro? Hooked 😁
For me its about how a guitar sounds the looks are secondary.i've got guitars in poly and nitro finishes some look brand new some dont but they all sound great.
Great opening chops!
Had to replay that intro. Just had to, man...
Cheers
Wow that intro jam was SWEET!
Sounds great, looks great. Lee and Pete enjoy playing them. But sadly I dont have the money for one of these ...
My dessert island guitar: 1984 gibson night hawk. Lots of different sounds in one guitar.
OMG the red one sounds luscious. Seriously. *starts saving money for a Custom Shop*
Fender need to improve their QC. Paintwork badly scratched.
David S damaged in transport ☺
I agree. This problem seems to be most prominent in the "reliced" versions.
@@einoware436 I'd send it straight back and get a refund. Do they take me for a fool sending me a bashed up guitar?
Yeah I recently sent a pair of jeans back that had a hole in them and some weird coloring. Who do these people think we are selling “new” jeans with holes in them? Crazy! 🤣
The damage is intentional. This is a process known as “relicing” where the guitar is artificially damaged to have the appearance of an older, more used guitar. Fender does this for many of their guitars.
Lovely guitars great demo on the 65 pick ups might put them in mine is the middle pickup RWRP for hum cancelling or are they proper vintage spec which I’d prefer no RWRP hum cancelling in positions 2&4?
I think Pete may be my favourite guitarist in the world. He makes everything sound amazing. I wish I could afford one of these guitars - they are stunning!
Hey, I got a band name for you guys: the danish captains! Great playing from both!
You guys are such huge John Mayer fans lol everything you two play sounds like something he would be playing and I’m not talking shit, you can just hear it every time
Great stuff, need to sell 10 of these then!
So good feeling when you both playing, thanks for a wonderful video : ) By the way, do any of you know a good reliable problem free loop pedal you could recommend, or maybe more than one brand, it would be nice thanks.
3:02 that was just lovely
They are beautiful.... Let me know when you make the Squiers. I might be able to afford those.
Has anybody ever done a ‘wish I’d kept that guitar’ session? Man, first time I’ve done that today and it made me so nostalgic :-( I hope they’re doing fine...
Impeccable playing, joy to listen. You brought out the best of those strats :)
I did enjoy this little video here.
I must sound like a broken record by now, but I am really enjoying Lee`s playing a lot too! Im now hanging off the edge waiting to see where Lee goes just like listening to Pete! Pete definitely fires off more notes, but Lee is becoming a sharp shooter surrounded by the likes of those who push him on. Loving everyone's playing. Top notch youtube content in my book!
Cheers man!!
@@andertons The improvement in your playing since you have been jamming more with Pete is very noticeable - great job.
Daaamn that jam at the end was legit!
Super amazing video as always. Maybe ur thinking about anniversary of dday landings? Would have been 20 years in 1964 June.
Pete's Yin Yang moment at 3:30; balances out sidetable with coffee mug.
Awesome, real Carl Verheyen vibe going on there. Such a creamy tone! Nice one lads.
I would love to have a drummer and go to Anderson's to have a jam session with Pete. I bet could lay down some killer guitar as I play some blues fusion on my bass! Hell to the yeahs!
Lovely guitars. Lovely jams to start off and end the video. Dare I say the Captain's soloing chops are progressively improving ever since starting the guitar lessons with Justin! The Captain also seems more comfortable and his solos to my ear sound more melodic and less scaly. What can I say about Danish Pete's jamming?!! He is my favorite player on the Andertons roster including all the guest/regular jammers on the channel. Great video gents!
Some really nice playing 🤘🏼
Excellente vidéo, merci !
holy christmas! I'm in love. CAR and rosewood. droool
Does Pete deck his bridge on the strat? Love these relic guitars. They sound, rather you both sound, spectacular.
Faaantastic played with a great sound!
Dang, both your playing just kill me. So good...
Another one for the Andertons Jams Album!
I really love Petes playing. Its magic.
Oh man these are lovely!
Danish Pete is an awsome guitar player love hearing you both jam
So their a reliced 60s original series stratocaster but for alot more money !
I commented this on an older video yesterday, but it works on this one too. I don't see why Fender feels like they have to batter the heck out of their guitars' bodies because people like having a neck without the heavy sticky lacquer on it. I don't see why it should be restricted to Custom Shop, either. They know many people don't like the sticky feel, so don't add the sticky feel to other instruments to try to justify the existence of $8000 custom models.
Please somebody buy the 10 units needed for Pete to get his guitar back!
