On Race For The Prize, they had the drums set up in a dead room, close mic'd. For the verses, that was what you heard, and then leading up the choruses, the door was opened, and the sound was then picked up by a mic hanging from the ceiling of the adjacent live room. Incredible sound, and I love the mechanical reverb send door. :)
Thumbs up here because Jan Popthisintheoven (it's pronounced "Pooch") is still rockin' the embossed tape labeller. Your heartfelt demo of Clipped Cocker was reminiscent of Top 40 radio in 1975. It made tears well up in my eyes (and a little in my throat).
This is great! Exceptional job, and it looks and sounds great. That handle on the front alone is so cool. "Vaguely safe" needs to be my motto. 🙂 The "catharsis vocals" in the closing song reveal that your studio is indeed equipped with a roll of 64-bit lyric paper "at the ready," "just in case"! Nothing like forgetting a good chorus when you haven't the paper to write it down.
Geek streaker here - nice bit of mojo-in-a-box. Also enjoyed the guest appearance of the great Bert Chunder on backing vocals at the end. The "DBM" labels are a bit of a mystery but could refer to the fact that this compressor has a true "logarithmic" response, especially as it has no "threshold" adjustment.
Hello Steve, very interesting that am 447 mike compressor/modulator for RF transmitter, the "m" of dBm stands as you said before ,for mW. I enjoyed very much that very unique version of "You are so beautiful".
I think that when you do the enclosure, the whole log cabin birdhouse look would be the way to go. Brave AI says that you are correct on the DBM interpretation, but I think a human being should back that up.
Try doing a frequency sweep? Many of these are pretty low. This one sounds low. Perfect for what it was designed for. But still useful and fun today. But not worth thousands like you said. I plan on doing a federal 864 this winter. Dont believe specs on audio transformers , sometimes they are better than what they say
The shorter your hair gets, the more I am jealous of your playing. I am sure this happens on a day-to-day basis. How do the clerks at your local Aldi feel about this? Sincerely, Some guy from America
I just went and listened to that Flaming Lips song and chuckled all the way through the migraine bits. It's like they took this really nice song and thought but how can we capture that annoying your parents with your drum kit vibe.
Amazing
Paradox of history: comes without enclosure but built like a tank ... a (risky) gadget nice to have; thanks for sharing :-)!

Fantastic, like the lady singers in Holsts planet suite who are instructed to walk out of the room at the end, still singing, so they gradually fade
@@VintageKeysStudio I always require the singers to walk slowly out of the room. And that's before the recording session has even started!
Haha yes good!!

"Smooth knee"

That’s a fantastic idea - I actually have a lovely pair of great tits waiting to nest inside it. :)
This is dope 👍
Love this shit!
Sucky Cymbal: Check, Geek Streak: Check
I'd imagine that it's likely from a naval vessel (ship or submarine) for the Sonar guy. Those pings are very loud.
Ahh fantastic!
An adventurous beard on show, bold and gauche
Thank you, yes it’s a wild beard at present

Good idea!
Was that the one from Soundgas. Nearly went for it myself but it has a limited bandwidth so I passed!
No, it was very cheap (£175) from a private seller

Be careful, the capacitors probably have PCB oil filling...
Thanks yes they do! - they have now all been disconnected and redirected through modern ones under the chassis :)
