I started in working in radio in the 80's and I remember the engineer calling XLRs "Cannon", I never questioned why. A litteral "Ohhhhhhhh wow!" moment from me 30 years later.
Thank you for that vintage journey! Back into a time when there was no easy way to get an adapter for everything or a quick firmware update to fix issues with compatibility. All the best :-)!
Here's 1 for you, get those two Behringer synths you have and pop those through the Leslie 760 and have the synths set on a wide portamento sweep and pop an auto tuner over them for laughs. That will freakout those Dr.Who fans out their. Thinking about it any fx that you put on to the synths from the desk send those through the other Leslie on slowest spin setting then that will also freakout the star-wars fans as well. Perfect.

The baffle is a baffle - used to be over the console when it was in the middle of the room. There is a little ground hum with a guitar straight in as there’s no part the signal balanced, but via a mixer or Di it’s ok.
Cannon are I believe (or perhaps were) a brand who made various connectors (including XLR's) The connectors you're using are often known as EP5's (and are still very much in use, and made by various manufacturers) also available EP4's and EP6's (and quite possibly others) Still available on many higher end PA loudspeakers (although usually sold by default with Speakon connectors, many can be ordered with EP4 / 5 / 6 connections instead)

Hi Steve. A life saver of techno 'LessHamonias' speak. I am interested in your wiring on the M102 which I am assuming is very similar to the L112..I have a shell of a Leslie 700 and will be converting it into a std L as much as possible. An older gentleman dropped in a pair of brand new v22 and horns yesterday still with the white tape over the port of the drivers! So now to add I have a 600w Beyma crossover. 15" bass driver and both 2 speed motors. I've ordered an old 55watt 8ohm valve PA (someone said unlike a guitar amp which is highs dominant a PA is more accomodating to the H sound. Your take?) anyway I digress. I'm assuming from your helpful video that I can take a line feed (not resisted) and an 8ohm line to a source switcher from the L112? The line level feed goes into the valve amp in the leslie but I need to engineer the rotory speed switch to run from the powered (seperate Leslie amp mains) back to the Hammond as the 2nd switch. So what I would have is your setup? You didnt mention that (I am assuming) the M102 signal line output was not coming off the M102 speaker wires but rather from the internal bypassed/switched line level input feed with no resister? This I am assuming is part of the switch to use the onboard speaker or not? Also I am guessing as I am building from scratch that I may as well take the reverb line level (split out) to run to an 8" fitted into the Leslie giving an effect sound from a similar place but is it worth the hassle?..I might have answered my own question..mmm! Thanks - you should hopefully be able to deduce the correct wiring by having a look at this www.fishorgans.com/leslie_kits/012617A.pdf and anything else related to the organ you are connecting. Be careful with the mains wiring!

Laurens Hammond was an intensely private man; there is no public record of him ever attacking Don Leslie personally. In January of 1996, Don Leslie told this author, "I'm careful not to say too much about Laurens Hammond. After all, where would I be if it weren't for Hammond and his organ?" In spite of the lawsuits, anti-Leslie propaganda, and other silliness, the relationship between Laurens Hammond and Don Leslie certainly was symbiotic. Leslie Speakers sold many Hammond Organs to organ users beyond the traditional church market and Don Leslie obviously needed Hammond to promote his product. Leslie also developed speaker models for Wurlitzer, Conn, Gulbransen, and other organ makes, but the Hammond Organ was always Leslie's primary application." The "anti-Leslie" propaganda that is mentioned was in the form of advertising where Hammond stated that the new Hammond organs with scanner vibrato didn't need any external "irritants" with motors and rotating speakers anymore. The reason for Hammonds unvillingness to accept the Leslie speaker was maybe that Hammond had tried to develop a "Leslie" too but failed. I think it was called a 'Tremulant' speaker but I am not sure.

@@MrTimcoronel I am not a guitarplayer, but as far as I know the vibrato in a Fender amplifier is made electronically while Hammonds vibrato speaker was completely mechanical - it has a rotating drum with a hole in it in front of the speaker, but without the angled reflector which made the sound much less vibrating than the Leslie.

Did you know that there was a service bulletin issued for the Leslie 760 that allowed you to convert it into tumble dryer? I may have got that wrong; it could have been a modification to turn it into a small Hadron Collider. Either way, a fascinating insight don't you think?
When I was a young rock ‘n’ roll roller around 74 or 75, I traded a UniVox Bass amplifier for a Wurlitzer tone cabinet… This was their version of a Leslie …! It weigh a ton like most Leslie’s….😵💫 phase shifters were in their infancy. The MXR phase 90 was invented, but was quite pricey for a poor Guitar player….! I wired the tone cabinet with a toggle switch for fast and slow speed and I used a Sears and roebuck fuzz face distortion pedal for a preamp…! One of the big problems with the Leslie Cabinet was if it was not miked it was not very loud, but it did sound cool…! Hammond didn't like the way the Leslie cabinets made his organ sound. Hammond was going for more of a pipe organ sound, and he thought the Leslie cabinets made the Hammonds sound like a theater organ. So, in order to try to frustrate Don Leslie's efforts, Hammond changed the Leslie interface on every new model that came out. Don Leslie would then design a new interface to connect the newest models with his cabinets. Don Leslie and his Leslie cabinet contributed greatly to the Hammond sound.
