I agree, it’s only since bumping into VKS that I noticed other channels ‘reviewing’ old organs but they generally aren’t anything like as informative or entertaining, cheers.
I was just trying to come to terms with your strange mixture of creepy sci fi and children’s tv incidental music from the 70’s then you mention Chorlton and the Wheelies, Wow that’s a real blast from the past just like the Jen.
One of the best things with a synth in an organ is that one can use the organ stops to fatten up / layer the synth sounds. Works like a charm on single oscillator monosynths.
So pleased this has ended up in your capable hands. On the sx2000 it's a lot of fun pressing down two of the preset instruments, at least of the stand alone synth. Goes into self oscillation which is hours of fun with wine and a delay such as the ross stereo. Great video!
That's a pretty versatile instrument. It has a lot of promise and potential for today's music as well. With some delay and reverb, it can be a potential synth.
The patch at position 21:03 sounds like a hybrid between a drunken baby wearing overloaded nappies and an alley cat - lamenting on running out of booze. In deed there seems to be a lot of rhythm & fun build into this electronic organ; thanks for sharing that awesome presentation :-)!
I'm glad this channel and I found each other. Although lately I feel you have become distant channel. Did I do something wrong channel? Please don't leave me! I can change....
Thank you Steve for yet another great demo of special rare instruments cool that Jimmy Smith owned it, he was a friend of my father,..=) also a great Organist,..BTW i see you got a great TEAC 2A Mixer that's great i have one too and love it,..
It’s the same synth as the JEN SX-2000, filter is the same as the Synthi-AKS, but done with diodes. Gets a bit raspy. I had one, which of course, I predictably sold. Good vid.
Steve, thanks a lot for this review! As a kid in the 70s we had this organ (minus the monophonic synthesizer) at home. Sold in Germany as "Wilga K-44", price in 1977 was 3200,- DM, I still remember my parents in fierce discussions if we could afford this. I guess it's a little bit cheaper nowadays. I always thought the cool sounding part was the Leslie, the rhythm section was crap even then. Although quite unimpressive overall hearing the sounds after decades again brings back many memories.
Thanks a lot! because of you my speaker fell apprt on the floor due to vibrations ! okay it's a cheap commercial thing with the fake tweeters but still... lol. i hope you're proud of yourseld Charles Dickens...
Steve, as all of the many lectures you give about keyboards, all of they are extremely interesting ,and those keyboards with integrated synthetizers sounds are only limited to human capabilities. I could devise many of Bach passages you played and of course that extraterrestrial creature came out from its outer dimension due to those fantastic synths sounds !!
For like 20 seconds I was like, "OMG, for the love of God why doesn't he get that giant skin tag on his face removed?! Surely he could .. wait a sec, what's ... what the F***?"
Genatall? Never heard of the JEN SX 1000? It’s the first synth I bought and I still own it. Shortly before they folded they even built a polysynth. This is also nice though. Especially when the fun bits begin.
That lil drummer in the organ must have "blisters on my fingers!" 🙂 I always wondered about that swell pedal. I saw a group who had a horse box trailer out behind the theatre, and I guess that was why? The doorbell sounded a bit like a Rhodes...maybe that doorbell they were making for a while. Stevie Wonder had one, I think.
Wow, that took a lot of guts to play that synth in such a way. Did you acquire the Naughty bits that Wendy C. Lost to gain this talent? Or are you just happy to see me?
You're quickly becoming a big source of vintage organ information. Keep going please~
Thank you very much indeed!

I just love it when you get your Leslie out!

Oh yes a firm favourite of mine! Especially Fenella
The short legs had me in stitches by the way haha

You’re a genius Ethel! This organ has so much potential for so many things
I had a Jen Pianotone in the 70s. Overdriven it produced a great sound that blended well with electric guitar in our band.
Wow yes I bet it did! I am looking for one of those
I love watching your videos. These organs are absolutely amazing, as a student I can only afford to play with a small midi keyboard and my laptop.
Best of luck!
these things go for almost nothing. just found one on a second hand market site in denmark for equivalent of 23 quid

Turn that “Fun” button up to 11 !
My Gran played organ in church and also had one at home; I wish to my core I had asked her to teach me...

Instantly my favorite new channel... making dusty and beautiful old organs fun and very funny! 😆
I do love the sounds of these organs, thank you!
I'm a synth lover but love these old organs jen did a synth I think
Yes they did several

Ahh brilliant that’s very interesting about the K-44!
You can also combine the synth presets
Ah, you have heard of them. This should be very close to the SX2000 and yes, that one could also be bought stand alone.
very entertaining and made me laugh as usual , TOP MARKS

Glad I could help!
The preset buttons and rythm buttons reminds of the buttons from the wersi matic 1 rythm units
Come for the synthesizer, stay for the gags!

The creature (known as the Hobster) is very partial to a synth
For like 20 seconds I was like, "OMG, for the love of God why doesn't he get that giant skin tag on his face removed?! Surely he could .. wait a sec, what's ... what the F***?"
How dare you! It’s my pet Tick, Thomas

Genetall; a grown man playing with his Organs
@@rossr6616 Hey, after a certain age one is supposed to play one’s organs oneself. One day you’l understand. 🤣

That horsie is a nuisance - still appears when you least expect him
I would like to have Carrousel its quite versatile, abd has a fantastics sinthetizer sound
Great video! sir 😊
What in the world
I like the sound of this contraption. I always think that the word diapason sounds like a new antidepressant drug.
Haha yes - the stronger one is Diapasonapine
17:08 - quick, flush your stash, it's the po-po!
Hahahahaaa
OK, at about the halfway point my ears are perking up. It *does* actually go into synth territory.
Doesn’t everyone have a Rubber Horse Snout lying around?
Wow, that human voice round! I saw Cossacks Dancing.
2:44 Oh, of course! "Tibia" is Italian for "like"!
I'm getting early OMD vibes
j'ai exactement le même mais je ne m'en sert plus car les jeux crachouillent , l'effet Leslie est surprenant...
8:52 got a bit gorillaz for a bit!
I agree!
I didn't realise that you were actually that tall
The Dingo ate ‘is Legs Mate!
Wow, that took a lot of guts to play that synth in such a way. Did you acquire the Naughty bits that Wendy C. Lost to gain this talent? Or are you just happy to see me?
i always hated the grandstand theme until you played it
I’m flattered
Jen at all... 😂😂😂
I had a Jen SX1000 which has to be one of the worst synths I have ever experienced
