No pressure, singing to your idol who is sitting next to the King of your country. They rocked it. Gram Parsons was the love of her life. He had a tragic ending very prematurely.
Being a country/folks music fan since childhood after discover my parents records and a native swede I knew about First Aid Kit since 2008, maybe 2009. This song, at this occastion is such beautiful moment. One can really feel and see how love for music and artistery fills the room. Emmylou can lean back and just enjoy how she has inspired generations of (female) artist coming after her. Thanks for remind me about this amazing piece and act in the music history
I'm sure it was nerve wrecking for the girls, not only where they singing for Emmy-Lou herself, but the man sitting beside Emmy-Lou is the Swedish King Carl XVII Gustaf. The girls are Johanns and Klara Söderberg, they are born in 1990 and 1993. The video for this song was actually filmed at Josua Tree in remembrance of Gram Parsons.
The first reaction video I ever heard was "Tulsa Queen" by Emmy Lou Harris. I listened to that song a lot, so it was not surprising that you tube thought I might like this song. Note that these two talented Swedish sisters also performed Simon and Garfunkel's "America" in front of Paul Simon.
First Aid Kit always supply brilliant music and lyriics that makes you rewind. Plus perfect harmomising.

June and Johnny is a reference to June Carter Cash and Johnny Cash. :-) Such a beautiful song.
