The Ukrainians belive that occupying Kursk will be in a better position during a negotiations. Which doesn't make any sense as Russians will not negotiate until they don't push them back.
In anyway Ukraine will negotiate nothing, it will be an unconditionnal surrender; maybe they will name this a "negotiation" to please the western elites and Ukrainians but Ukraine will just lose some territory, the question is just how much? it will be more territory than the Russians have now.
Excellent! Thanks for the updated report Weeb. It has been interesting following your channel. Watching your understanding grow. It has greatly increased my own. When this conflict is resolved I wish continued success to you.
Yep. Koronevo was the key to Kursk. Weeb called it right. Ukrainians couldn't take it so now they're being attrited at the end of a long supply line while positions in Donetsk collapse. It's a mystery indeed why this spent offensive continues to be reinforced.
Because Zel. Doesn't want a peace deal. He knows very well that Putin won't sit at that table unless Ukraine Is fully expelled from Kursk Oblast. Moreover fearing the consequences of Trump's victory he tries all his best to mantain that bridge head inside Russia.
The purpose is to show the donors, Ukraine is still doing well on the battlefield. The donors keep lying to western people and keep spending their hard-earned taxpayer money on idiocy.
Ukraine is foolishly trying to defend even small villages rather then retreating to defend big towns and cities like Kurakhove and Vilya Novosilka. This Ukrainian strategy of defending small villages to the last is greatly demoralising because when they retreat it becomes too late which leads to huge casualties when retreating. Russia has also changed its strategy its now bypassing small villages to attack large towns and cities to cut supply line to villages that Ukraine stubbornly defends and possibly partially encircle them so that they will leave one road open to retreat which Russians will bombard to make retreat costly. Ukraine should retreat to big supply towns and defend them and preserve thier forces rather them letting them die defending small villages which had not value to defend
Haha, according to which western media? You keep claiming this but that news is nowhere to be found. Western media reports russian advancements on most fronts.
Northwest Donestk contains Kramatorsk,146 thousand pop. and Slovyansk 106 thousand pop. Both cities are heavily defended. To take them will be costly and slow going
Southern Donetsk seems to be collapsing but as the other comment said once they lose Kurakhove they will probably have to withdraw and realign the frontline at the Zaporizhia border and a line south of Pokrovsk.
The most logical explanation I heart so far is that the Ukrainian regime wants to bargain the Kursk's occupied parts for something else during negotiations.
True. I think the argument is that it won't be a complete victory for Russian people if they have to give something for exchange foe the liberated territories.

If AFU pulls out of Kursk, Russians will just continue their offensive operations into Sumy region. That would be disastrous for Ukrainian morale, especially during winter, when there will be upheaval because of the energy supply situation.
@Ceiling_Gato When your Commander in Chief says your country has become a testbed for weapons of unfathomable destructive power, take me through how morale works to those on the frontlines, bro..
I think Zelensky had been quite honest about the purpose of the incursion: it is meant to be a bargaining chip in peace negotiations. I would assume that the strategic calculation by ukrainian leadership is that they will be able to avoid collapse on their eastern front and hold the symbolically significant bargaining chip of being on russian turf when inevitable peace negotiations happen in 2025. While it is true that Russia would eventually fully win this war, it also remains true that the Ukraine is almost the most unadvantageous battlefield for the russian military arm to exert itself. A geared up, significantly western backed and experienced army defending on their home turf is a costly affair. And i do believe that unlike what western media tries to sell us, that putin is and has been willing to negotiate. The west wants to stop with all its power that russian can set its eyes on other regions such as the Caucasus, Middle East and Africa. With Trumps win in the election it is now clear that negotiations will occur either way in 2025, and i think Ukraine is now fully focussed on improving its negotiation position instead of long term military planning. Just my perspective on your question on why Ukraine keeps the Kursk Incursion alive.
As for Kursk : History Legends said something that makes sense in my opinion : The Ukrainian want to stay in Kursk in order to prevent a freezing of the front and peace talks. As a freezing of the front would mean Russia loosing those lands.
The talk that I've been hearing about Ukraines ongoing presence in Kursk is that their going to try and use it as a bargaining chip in negotiations when Trump's back in office, to try and get back some area/s that are under Russian control.
Politically, holding the Kursk territory serves at least two purposes. While Ukraine holds the Kursk territory, Russia is extremely unlikely to agree to a Korea-style armistice along current battle lines, and the Kursk territory is probably the least bad bargaining chip the Ukrainians can trade during peace negotiations. How valuable those 2 things are - and whether they are at all valuable - depends on a lot of assumptions. They could be used to make it harder for the next US administration to end the war. Consider that the next US administration has the options to end, to continue, or to escalate the war. Both current Ukrainian leadership and the current US administration seem to prefer if the next US administration picked the third option.
You give Trump too much credit. The MIC didn't listen to him when he told them to pull the US troops from Syria. What makes you think they will listen to him now? Easier to make him go the way of JFK and blame Iran and just open another front.
You will not find any military logic behind Kursk because there is none. But war is just another tool in politics. If it's assumed that some parties in this conflict have the goal to extend the war as long as possible, then the Kursk is the only thing that prevents negotiations. Strategic defeat of Russia can be done even if Ukraine is destroyed beyond recognition. Russia can't enforce peace even if it takes whole east side of Dnipro (if West decides so). Damned if you do, damned if you don't. A perfect trap for Russia.
