Custom stamps I bought off of Etsy.
Many have questions about washing them and storing them in the refrigerator. We wash all eggs in a special egg wash solution. Egg stamps are used with FDA approved food safe ink. These are the revommendations from the FDA, which I stay in complaince with, even though I only sell to family and friends. All of our customers have asked for their eggs to be cleaned prior to purchasing. All of my eggs are stored in a designated refrigerator used only for my eggs and delivered in a special transport cooler bag. ☺️ Here is a link to the FDA revommendations on handling and purchasing eggs in their shells. It is NOT recommend safe to purchase unwashed/unrefrigerated eggs here in the US.

It really is! It helps keep my hands doing small tasks like tying and stringing twine into a small hole. All things I.used to do in physical therapy.

I want to get chickens as soon as my husband can heal from his back injury. He lost his job of 20 yrs and then hurt his back. I have heard chickens are so much fun to raise. I can't wait!

Oh my gosh Heather loved this 💕I have hens that lay colors to and yes such a joy however I never knew you could get all that wonderful stuff to wrap them up with and the little stamp! Love the custom cartons. Love how you take extra little steps like this. And I just checked thank you for leaving the link. It was during my emergency surgery on my leg and I was bed bound. And homeschooling. Not much I could do from bed and the Lord laid this on my heart. Amazing! They just graduated to the garage. They still need their heat, but out garage is insulated and drywalled and they are growing all of their feathers in now. They are in their ugly stage. 🫣😆 AND I added 4 Buff Orpingtons because Tractor Supply needed them sold and they gave them to me for $1! I couldn't say no!😆 Those are straight run and I am praying for at least one rooster!!!!

We take our eggs to church and give them to help people out who are in need.
I have done that as well. It's such a wonderful treat to be gifted rainbow eggs when.times are hard. ♥️

If you dont mind me asking,how do you check to tell if your eggs are fertile or not,i use to help my neighbor check his eggs in a dark room by holding the eggs in front of a candle.
I have a special candler flashlight. I also have a light built into my incubator but that one isn't as powerful. If you have a good rooster to hen ratio, your odds are pretty good they are fertile. But even then they may not develope. It's all in the Lord's hands. 🥰

I have a long list! but mainly Ameracauna, Cochin, Brahma, Cream Legbar, Red Marans, Barred Rocks, Orpingtons, australorpe.... and probably a few more I forgot. LOL
Warm or cold water?
Cold soak with the cleanser and cool to rinse ☺️
Beautiful eggs however if your buyers want o water glass them they cannot and they mst be refrigerated after washing as bloom is gone no natural protection anymore

Absolutely! 😁 In fact I have some who request unwashed to incubate in which case they get their eggs fresh off the warm nest! I have lots of grand chicken babies out here 😆

Dont people want unwashed eggs? They last sooo long without refrigeration.
Sadly they don't, but I have more info in the description box about selling them according to USDA guidelines, which is to wash them. If someone asked me not to wash them, I would do that for them but my friends and family all want them washed. haha

No I’m just teasing. I think I have around 60 and I have 23 babies being added that are in the brooder. But chicken math is real 🤣 and I have my 3 turkeys.
Eggs have a natural coating called a “cuticle” or “bloom” that protects the contents from bacteria. When that cuticle is washed off, the semipermeable shell can allow bacteria to pass through and contaminate the contents. So, if you wash the protective coating off the eggs, immediately cook them or store in the fridge. We had people that got upset because we DID NOT wash our eggs. Now that they understand the process, they are glad we don't wash them, they last longer and they just need to wash them before they use them :0)
It's so interesting that you wash your eggs over in America. It's literally illegal to sell washed eggs here in the UK, because washed eggs go bad much faster, as it removes the natural waxy coating/barrier that prevents bacteria getting through the permeable shell. So, washed eggs are much less safe. (obviously, we wash them just before use, like vegetables). Beautiful eggs, though.
That's crazy! So do you sometimes find muddy or poopy eggs when you buy them from the store? Feathers stuck on them? I think if people bought them from the store fresh out of the nest most folks here would have a fit. 😆 People do not want dirty eggs! Even if it's just a little dirt. Which happens here in the rainy season. And the FDA, despite washing, if not pasteurized, require warning labels for safety. It's why I add stickers and an information card with a date on when those eggs were collected and cleaned. Not washing my eggs would make my life a lot easier, but almost everyone who buys from me has asked me to clean them first.even though aren't even dirty. @@TheKneadyHomesteader yup, we get the occasional feather or spec of dirt,- but that just proves they came from a chicken. Obviously you can give them a rub with a towel before selling.
But in the uk eggs (even supermarket eggs) are not pasteurised, because they do not need to be - the natural barrier protects the egg, as it would protect it for many weeks in warm temperatures if chicks were being hatched. It’s much healthier and more environmentally friendly.
It’s a matter of social attitudes, many people in America (especially the cities) seem less connected to the origins and nature of their food.

I was always told not to wash the eggs until ready to use, they would last longer. Guess that doesn’t stand true if you’re selling them
You can sell them unwashed IF whoever it is you are selling to wants them that way. The folks that buy mine want them washed. I sell mainly unwashed to folks who want to incubate them. Those are collected fresh the day of pick up ☺️ so it all depends.
Not supposed to wash eggs unto ready to use the.
If you water glass your eggs the bloom should not be washed off.

As a preference, my eggs ALWAYS will be washed.
I have known for 60 + years about the washed eggs vs unwashed drama **** and as a business person, im 💯 % sure that Heather does too. She has explained numerous times that her customers prefer washed eggs.

Why are you washing them? They last longer if you don’t wash them and you don’t have to refrigerate them.
Several reasons. Customers want them washed. I also have nowhere in my kitchen to store that many unwashed eggs. 😆
