The demon did not kill herself because she was prideful, she did it because of the magic tool she used. who ever has less mana has to obey the winner's every command. She had no ability to resist the "Kill yourself" command.
This arc is proof that a good direction could help step up the quality. Yes, Frieren has great animation, but it won't matter if the direction is bad, even if the manga source itself is good. Thankfully, Frieren was lucky to have Keichiro Saito as its director
It was actually the last conversation with Aura that actually interested me. Prideful as Demons are, they are also careful. Even Frieren didn't know Demons could actually see Mana Flow accurately. It makes what Flamme taught her far more complicated than just "hide your mana". Can imagine Flamme almost getting killed when one of the Demons saw through her technique, and she refined it for that very reason. As for who can defeat Frieren question, you have to go back to how Lugner and Line fought Stark and Fren. Mana capacity doesn't matter, considering that fight. It's usage of skills, as well as creating and capitalizing on openings. Basically, how a real fight can go if skills are involved.
The reason they're calling it a mockery of magic and despicable is because in this world, mage duels are almost like a very complicated version of chess. Opponents can tell how much mana their opposite has, but that mana doesn't tell them everything. Each spell has its weakness and technique, lightning quick reactions and a calm and focused mind can allow a mage with less mana to defeat an opponent with more. The ultimate outcome depends a lot on how much mana your foe expends to shield themselves from your attack, how much they waste by using a suboptimal attack to break through your defenses or if you can trick them into using the wrong response by weaving a spell they did not expect. This way, the outcome of the fight is an accumulation of the steady earnest effort a mage puts into studying and perfecting their spells, their hard-won experience and inherent talent. Demons go a step further. As magical predators, they often spend their entire lives honing a single aspect of magic that is inherent to them to the very peak, often surpassing the capacity of human magic in that particular aspect. Hiding your mana in the way these three do it is the equivalent to showing up to a poker game with 9 decks of cards up their sleeves. By appearing weak, they cause their enemies to let down their guard because their mana appears too feeble to pierce their defenses. It lures the demons into wasteful displays of spells, fools them into attempting to shield against a spell that's much stronger than the mana displayed by their enemy would allow them to wield or causes them to stay and fight when they would otherwise have run without hesitation. It's also a luxury most human mages don't have because it takes incredible effort and dedication to become proficient enough in suppressing your mana to the point that high calibre enemies won't notice anything untoward. That same effort invested into honing their base mana capacity, crafting better tools, learning additional spells or honing the ones they already have is widely considered to be a much more worthwhile use of their time because all of those things increase your overall might regardless of situation while hiding your mana only works if the enemy plays into it and makes mistakes. It worked for Flamme and Frieren because they were driven by a desire for revenge and Fern simply never knew any other way.
Demons are giving away a big advantage to their enemies in a fight, wondering how many people throughout Frieren's world still keep the knowledge of Demon's nature same way as Frieren and her teacher did
@@DenverSenpai It's an advantage for sure, but most people wouldn't be able to take advantage of it. It only works against demons and you have to be strong enough to actually be able to beat them - that's not easy when hiding your mana takes a decade of practice. Probably something you only usually see among veteran mages that lived through the demon wars.
many warriors can kill frieren. we only see the world magic of their world, we only see the glimpse of warrior can do with stark and eisen. In the manga, Himmel the hero can do most of the warrior thing can do. We only know how actually strong Frieren, but we never showed how strong all Hero Party can do tbh. She is the best mage out there probably, but who can defeat her is very much many people can do. Like, maybe some assassin who doesnt had any mana, and can do sneak attack.
@@kaigaikarano I'm skeptical that Frieren would be vulnerable to a warrior's melee attacks or an assassin's sneak attack, but explaining why requires referencing information from later in the season, so I won't talk about it here.
@@DarwinAwardWinnerI’d also add as a manga reader, there’s some interesting spells and abilities that would add a new level of complexity to the rock-paper-scissor aspect of magic combat.
They have stated several times that Aura's spell grants the one with the most mana control over the opponent, so I don't get how you could have missed it.
〇 Cyberpunk: Edgerunners(stylish, stimulating, interesting even if you don't understand the terminology) 〇 Puella Magi Madoka Magica 〇 Land of jewels ⇒ undecided on a sequel, Manga original is complete (revolutionary Anime in Japan, recommended for women) 〇 Made in Abyss(gross is present, viewer discretion advised, many cult fans) I thought it was a masterpiece among the 150 I watched. It was also highly rated in Japan. Sorry if you are seeing this.

Yeah, one of those fails we do sometimes :(
The demon killed herself because of that scale. The loser has to do what the winner says. The demon was more or less mind controlled to do it.

Never watched any of these, thank you for recommendations :)
